Unfortunately, with a short week on the road (again), the Dolphins don’t have time to correct or change anything.
Let’s assume we lose to the Bills. Fine, no shame in that. But then our next two games are home on MNF against the Jets and then the Panthers after that. We have 2 doormat teams on the horizon, and that is what I want to see. Can we at least compete? Are there teams worse than us?
Losing to the Bills will answer no questions, but losing to the Jets and Panthers would validate our low opinion of the Dolphins.
One thing that has changed for me personally is that I’ve given up on Tua. Pains me to say it. I’ve defended him every step of the way, but no more.
It’s not just his bad throws. Not just his lack of mobility. Not just his failure to take accountability (if you’ve seen his interviews the last few weeks). Not his lack of passion. It’s a combination of all those things.
But of all those things, his lack situational awareness was the final straw for me.
Final play of the game, Fourth down with no timeouts. This is it, do or die. Complete a pass or lose the game. It’s that simple.
This is where the QB has to show his awareness of the situation. He has to try something–anything–to keep the game going.
You’re about to lose anyway, so a desperate hope for a miracle is okay. It’s better than taking a sack.
Yes, the defender was charging Tua, and he had no chance of making a perfect throw. But he could have just lofted a pass up there and hoped for a catch. Hoped for a PI. Hoped for a D holding. Hoped for a roughing call. A pass would have given us hope.
Instead, he tucked the ball tightly so that he wouldn’t fumble when hit.
You know what? A fumble would have been better.
At least the ball night have been kicked around and some bizarre miracle recovery could have happened. It would have taken a miracle, but so did Kenyan Drake burning Rob Gronkowski. Miracles can happen if you don’t just give up clutch the ball away and go down.
Throw the ball up for grabs. Fumble on purpose. Hell, even punt it and hope for a Patriot muff. Given this was our last desperate grasp to extend the game, ANYTHING is better than what he did.
McDaniel could have reminded him of the situation in his headphones before the play. “Hey, last play. Just throw it anywhere asap if you’re in trouble” But seriously, a coach should NOT have to remind his QB of this.

Admin, welcome to the other side. I’ve been here since Tua go here. I didn’t see what I longed to see. I didn’t see what he was billed as Tua’s all that. I didn’t see a QB that could think fast on his feet. I didn’t see a QB that gave me confidence when the game is on the line that he gives this team a good chance.
They need to make a change. This is Tannehill.2
Yes, and it just took me longer to arrive there !
