We now interrupt our Stephen Ross Weekly Tankgate Drama with some different news…

Doug Pederson has been hired by Jacksonville.  HE was the coach he needed.  By far the best option out there.

With Pederson and Daboll and Harbaugh avoiding Miami like the plague, the stakes are dire.   There is still time for Ross to hit a home run and bring in an experienced coach like Rex Ryan or Todd Bowles, but things are looking grim.

The two unqualified kid coordinators (from San Fran and Dallas) aren’t even on the radar any more.  Who the hell else is out there?

Pederson’s Jaguar interviews were extremely secretive, so there is hope that Ross is interviewing some qualified candidates privately as well.

Your thoughts?

  1. Admin, I have typed two long posts and bec. I typed so fast, I hit a weird key and was deleted…twice! I’m so disgusted I don’t know how I’m going to be a Dolphin fan with any passion, devotion or interest! Ross has ruined, R-U-I-N-E-D this franchise! How can one man “f” it up so bad? Pederson was a sliver of hope, but now a state rival team has swooped him up. Better for Pederson he made the right choice to not work for this idiot! Who is left again? Sloppy seconds is what’s coming to town. I’d cancel my season tix and let Ross be put on notice fans aren’t spending hard earned money to watch your $hit show. Just think, the f’g Jets will be in better shape than Miami and that doesn’t make you want to vomit, you aren’t a true Dolphins fan. If this whole entire Ross debacle doesn’t make anyone upset, annoyed, pissed, disgusted than they aren’t a true Dolphins fan.

Sloppy seconds arriving soon! Yeah, it sure seems that way, doesn’t it? Whoever accept the job will spend his first 5 months answering questions about all our scandals. I can see it now…”Well, I’m proud to be the Dolphins coach, and Stephen Ross is an honorable man.” All the rumors say it’s going to be the kid coordinator from San Fran, but he may pull out rather than deal with the Miami shit show.

  2. Any coach we get will be terrible. We went from arguably the second best job after the raiders to dead last now. Ross just had to fire the coach with back to back winning seasons!

  3. Yeah, what an awful CF for the dolphins. If the pay-to-lose allegations are even close to being true, I respect Flores that much more for his decision not to play along and Ross gotta go. I think the other racism charges are a nothing burger. What Flores experienced is an artifact consequence of of affirmative-action type rules like the Rooney rule.

Fun conjecture #1 – I find it interesting in the timing of Flores law suit. He announced lawsuit after the Championship game, when Ross’s Joe Burrows was victorious. Could Ross have sent a ‘told ya so’ message to Flores that triggered Flores to act sooner than later?

Fun conjecture #2 – who was the mysterious Yacht quarterback? Tom Brady? Maybe Tom Brady will buy the organization from Ross.

I don’t think Brady has enough money to buy a team! Shaquille O’Neal once said that “athletes are rich, but team owners are wealthy.” I always remembered that.

    2. I will execute a perfect backflip if Brady buys this team from Ross.

  4. McDaniel was interviewed yesterday and Keller is interviewing today. If I had to guess, I’d say we’re getting McDaniel.

    1. Sorry. Meant to say “Moore” not Keller.

    2. Yeah looks like McDaniel. He is a minority, so it’s a good hire for Ross to show he’s not prejudice. Also, might be a damn good coach. I don’t know enough about him though. Fingers crossed

  6. Admin, can you get some intel on McDaniel and post? It would be just like Ross to hire a minority HC just to say see, I’m not racist, I hired another minority coach. Really? Cause there isn’t much to choose from now and who will believe you? I think Jacksonville did the best.

I don’t know much more than you all, but I was studying a lot about McDaniel and also Kellen Moore of the Cowboys. McDaniel’s mom is white and his dad is black. That should not matter in any hiring decision, but who knows with Stephen Ross.
I prefer McDaniel over Moore only because of the things I’ve read and his offensive mind. He’s done some good things with some average QBs.
I don’t think he’s perfect, but if it’s down to only two contenders, I’ll take the lesser of two unqualifieds.

  7. My initial, impression, based on his CV, is that McDaniel reminds me of Gase. No head coaching experience, but great offensive mind that has done good things with some QB’s. They both are scrawny too. Those are my lazy prejudices.

  8. Appreciate the background on McDaniel. It just seems like here we go again with the HC search down to coordinator level candidates with no HC experience. IMO, that matters to the players. Who would you naturally respect more-a McDaniel coordinator or a Sean Payton with HC on his resume? or Rex Ryan? Jason Garrett? Ross doesn’t and hasn’t given this team, players and fan base any HC to be proud of. Was getting to feel a bit more confident with Flores so Ross fires him. When is this owner going to make a decision that’s right?
