More to come during the week, but for now, I wanted to point out how impressive the defense looks lately.
Big plays allowed and breakdowns are inevitable in football. But as long as they don’t occur routinely (Which was happening during the 7-game losing streak), the Dolphins can ride it out.
Yesterday, the Jets had one big 35-yard rush that led to a short touchdown a few plays later. They also had one 62-yard TD pass, in which Byron Jones just missed breaking it up, and Jevon Holland seemed to turn the wrong way. I won’t say it was a lucky Jets TD, but we weren’t out of place. Weren’t burned by the blitz. It was well defensed. But Flacco threw a perfect pass, so you tip your cap. 2 big plays allowed all day, and the rest of the day the D played well.
Incidentally, the Jets first TD was a breakdown and miscommunication caused by Brian Flores. Yes, he was outsmarted again. Watch the short TD pass. We stopped them on third down, and Flores thought the NYJ would kick a field goal. Our FG defense team started to come onto the field. But the Jets left their offense out there. Our defense scrambled to get back and get set. They never did.
Watch the highlights, and look at the bottom of the screen. 3 or 4 different Dolphins were yelling at each other. None of them knew where to go or what to do. Again–this is NOT the first time this happened–Flores did not use a timeout to get settled. He let the play run as is, and it was a Jet touchdown. And guess where? To the bottom of the screen where all our miscommunication and confusion had occurred.
Flores is still grossly inexperienced and has a habit of KNOWING disaster is gonna strike, but doing nothing about it. And once again, it cost us.

I’m sure the Jet fan deserved it, but the Dolphins fan comes up from behind with a sucker punch. Not cool, man!
I’m upset that the cheating patsies are back on top of the division again.
I agree Jimbo. They must be cheating for them to be this good so fast.
Cheating or not, Belichick knows the game and preps his players perfectly. Flores still makes rookie mistakes in year three, and the game is far too fast for him.
If there still cheating makes it a lot easier to do.
I remember one of your comments a year ago that we found out what kind of coach belichek is without Brady. Now all of a sudden there good so fast. I’m not saying for sure mac Jones isn’t the real deal or they our cheating ,but there is a saying in life if something is too good to be true it is. They have been caught so many times and for a team to be as good as long as they our no matter what it makes you wonder. Really does.
Well, deflating footballs to help Tom Brady is about as low as you can go. Blatant cheating there for sure. Video taping an opponent’s private practices? Another blemish where they only got a slap on the wrist. Ridiculous
.
Exactly, they have been caught so many times. I read an amazing book about spygate. They talked a lot about Ernie Adams being the key guy to a lot of things. Love your site by the way.
They’ve been cheating since SnowplowGate in the early 80’s.
Damn prison furlough!
Thanks, glad to hear you love the site. People don’t always agree with each other (or me) here, but at least we’re all diehard, knowledgeable fans who aren’t afraid to critique our own team.
I believe the first JETS touchdown was a pick play (correct me if I’m mistaken). I dont understand why you just dont destroy the picker. Knock him down and play it up. You are correct, Flores was outsmarted again here. I still think this team misses too many easy reads on defense and are slow to react (this is mostly a complaint about the linebackers). I pointed this out several times on the chat (most others did as well so its not hard to see). Another thing I cant stand is the DBacks playing back 10 yards when you are blitzing from the zero. The only option open is going to be short and Miami continues to get burned by 2 yard passes that turn into 5-8 yards. Play up and take that short pass away, its the highest percentage play.
I was thinking the exact same thing. If anything the DB’s should be close enough to quickly close on the WR while being far enough back to not get burned on a fade or slant.
Regarding Flores, I think that he & staff do pretty good pre-game prep (offense). Where Flores struggles are in-game adjustments (as admin has highlighted)
Except for the first Bills game, we have usually come-out strong, scoring a TD on first or 2nd drive. This tells me pre-game prep/planning has been good. But then the other team makes in-game adjustments, which leads to offensive struggles the rest of the game.
I must say, I am liking Tua’s progression. He’s looking more comfortable and completion percentage was near 80 percent I think. Another bad intercepton, but that’s going to happen. This is still like a rookie year for him again. Just imagine giving him time to go long down the field. Running game has improved during this win streak and that has helped him for sure! And obviously the defensive improvement is great to see!
