The Dolphins have place Davis on IR.

He seemed very promising for 2021, and you can read plenty of quotes from the coaching staff about the big things they expected from him this year.  Our pass rush and run defense were already quite porous, and I fear it just got worse.

However, on the good side…Davis’s IR stint is non the season-ending IR, but rather the month-long IR.  That part is very fortunate for us.

  1. Yes thank goodness to hear that as they definitely need him. Hopefully the others can hold the fort the next few weeks. Buf likes to pass so shouldn’t mess things up too much this week.

On the D-line, Zach Sieler was pretty quiet on Sunday, so I expect him to shine and have something to prove against the Bills coming up.

  2. It’s been a minute. My biggest worry with the team at the moment is offense. Particularly 3rd down conversion. Sure New England always has a great defense but we went 4-11 on 3rd down and that probably why they killed us on time of possession. Not sure that Mac Jones looked that much better but he just threw the ball more and had more plays. Have to figure out a way to lengthen drives and get Tua to throw the ball more about 33-35 times per game. We invested a lot into receivers and not running backs. Have to throw the ball a lot with this team

I think our O-line hurt us badly on our third downs. NEP knew we were going to pass, and they played it perfectly on many of those downs. The line has to toughen up or try better schemes. They did well in the 3rd and inches scenarios. The whole stadium knew that Brissett was going to keep the ball, and NEP could not stop us anyway. That’s a lot of determination and power by our O-line, and I commend them on those plays. Brissett’s conversion just before the 2-minute mark won us the game. I am 100% certain that Adam Gaee would have tried to “fool” the Patriots there by throwing a long pass. Incomplete. We punt. NEP gets the ball back at their own 30 with 2 minutes left. Game over. I am grateful that we can execute a basic QB sneak effectively.

  3. Agreed. speaking of WR’s, aren’t we getting Will Fuller back (after suspension) for this next game ?

And because they will be home (less crowd noise) – how about a few (audibiled) reverses to Waddle, Grant, and USE THEIR SPEED ! and how about a flee-flicker or two – especially if behind and needing a spark.

And they better have a plan to contain QB Allen’s runs, he always has huge rushing yards against us.

Yes, Fuller is back. He was hurt and didn’t practice much during camp, but hopefully he can contribute. I’ve never really studied his game. buit everything I read shows that he’s a speed burner with great hands. I’d love to see some long routes, with Fuller and Waddle and either Grant/Wilson sprinting downfield. Leave in an extra blocker or two, and I doubt the 2 safeties can cover 3 speedsters. Just keep letting them blow past the defenders and toss them the ball. I know it’s not that easy, but honestly, it IS that easy. 🙂 Playcallers try to get tricky too often.

      1. I agree and how about Gaskin sneaking out behind them with no one around. ..

Sounds good, in theory, but honestly that means one less blocker for Tua. I’d be more content with leaving an RB in to block and sending only three guys downfield. Three separate go-routes, nothing fancy. Gaskin out of the backfield is a wheel route that is slow to develop and Tua will get killed. If you want to use Gaskin, I’d say okay, but line him up outside and let him run a 4th go route. I just don’t think it’s possible with all our speed that all 3 or 4 guys will be covered.

Thank you. I love watching film breakdown like this. It’s a good breakdown, and it shows you a lot of different routes that guys run on any given play.
