During a bye week, I find myself bored to death on Sunday. Sure, there are other games to watch, but it’s not the same knowing our beloved Dolphins aren’t out there.
This Sunday will be even worse, because we have the sting of two straight losses eating at us. It’s not quite boredom, but depression. So many What Ifs. It would have been sooooooooooooo much nicer if Adam Gase had ran the ball on 4th and inches. Or if he didn’t try a stupid onside kick. Or if the defense remembered we had a game.
But none of that happened, and now the gnawing melancholy will last 9 more days….

We get a chance to watch teams that have a future and other teams like us that have none. It’s time to start over with this team and trade the laughably small number of players that have ANY value or package a few of them for maybe a 2nd round pic. And of course Gase and that bearded monkey DC. Cleveland had a buttlod of pics as do the Raiders and they have a long term plan with short term pain but I prefer that to 5-7 wins EVERY YEAR!

I don’t know the browns have had a million picks but if you have a donkey picking for you they’re wasted. They obviously need some more talent but I don’t think that they’re too far off. Coaching…well that’s another story I think they need some upgrades.
As much as these last few games have sucked some of the fan responses on other sites and even what some writers are saying is crazy. Perfect example is Hyde with the sun sentinel, literally saying the dolphins should trade Xavien Howard and Reshad Jones and anyone with any value. That is insane, Howard is young and Jones is literally the only good player on the defense. As bad as the defense has looked it’s really not all on the secondary. It’s really really hard to defend the pass when the other team can get 8 yards every run. It’s also really really hard to cover people when the opposing QB has enough time to plan a high school reunion every time they drop back to pass. Miami needs an overhaul on the defensive line and one better pass covering linebacker. Burke and Gase are the problem, Miami should be a top 10 rushing offense in the NFL if Adam Gase knew what he was doing. And Burke’s wide 9 doesn’t fit the personal on the dline at all.
It’s so depressing isn’t it? To me it seems so much more so this time around then in the past. I have not commented since the 3rd quarter of the game Thursday. Instead I have tried to really figure out why I feel that this time is worse than “The Stash” or “Falling forward Fast” and I think it’s because the Miami Dolphins are so thoroughly broken it’s beyond fixable.
Consider.
1 – We have an absentee owner who doesn’t know football and is not a fan
2 – We have a GM in Tanenbaum who has not accomplishments other than absolutely running franchises into dust.
3 – We have an assistant GM / Talent evaluator who we can’t judge because oddly he has no say over what talent is brought in that’s left to our Head Coach who has no experience evaluating talent.
4 – If you look through Miami’s 25 or so coaches we have two with actual experience in the positions they now occupy with Miami and only two who have been on a winning team in their coaching history.
5 – Our Offensive Coordinator Dowell Loggains is one of our few coaches who has experience in the position he now coaches in. Problem is he isn’t allowed to coach on Sunday? Yep you read that right. Now don’t let his experience fool you he’s done nothing in his career. He was the QB coach in Chicago and worked under Gase and when Gase got the HC job here Chicago moved Loggains into Gases OC job for a year until they let him go. Obviously we see how qualified Gase thinks he is.
6 – Our Defensive Coordinator is a joke. He was a linebackers coach with the Bungles and then the Detroit lions. To garbage teams and he was a position coach and Gase brings him here to be the Defensive Coordinator?
This is the cream of the corp it gets rally bad from there
Jim Arther – Charlie Bullen – Frank Bush – Andre Carter – Shane Day – Josh Grizzard – Bo Hardegree – Shawn Jefferson – Tony Oden who we got to see in action last Tuesday helping the Db’s figure out what assignment they blew (NOT) and the list of nobody’s goes on and on.
These guys don’t know how to coach.
I mean Bo Hardegree is our QB coach! Want to know why our QBs don’t improve look this kid up and you will understand.
The only coach we have who is coaching in a position he has had success before and the only coach we have who has been with a winning organization is our Special Teams Coordinator Darren Rizzi. Rizzi was the HC of the University of New Haven and in 2001 he went 5-4!
How does it get better from here because a few good players in the draft won’t make any difference and no respectable free agent is going to sign here with the clowns we have at every single position in the organization.
I don’t see any hope!
…….and I haven’t even mentioned the clown we have as a HC
If gase gets fired which I think is a wayyy higher possibility than people expect all those coaches go with him. Ross hates seeing his team get blown out on national TV he has said that before, and he also really wanted a new QB this offseason. Gase convinced him we could make it work with Tannehill. If the rest of the season plays out like it has so far I think there’s a really good chance Ross fires him at the end of the year.
but he has Burke as a scapegoat remember he doesn’t touch the D and the O hasn’t been nearly as bad this year. He also gave Burke the 1st pick to help the D by not taking a QB….
Shouldn’t a head coach pay attention or to all aspects of the game. Imagine a CEO saying I only care about sales let someone else handle everything else. His job is to over see everything and make sure the team is disciplined and going in the right direction. He fails at all of those things.
No doubt but it will buy him more time. Maybe Rex would come back now for DC but that could be volatile he’d be looking for Gase’s job immediately…haha!
You guys may think I’m nuts, but I’d welcome Rex with a red carpet. He got Mark Sanchez to 2 straight AFC Title games and he had the Bills in a decent rebuild mode.
He meets Brian M’s criteria too: he’s already been a coach and won’t need 3 or 4 years of adjusting to a leadership role.
Why not bring in someone from Andy Reid’s staff, Matt Nagy and Doug Pederson seem pretty good so far
I think Rex is too nuts to handle HC but if he could focus on DC I think he’d do a great job. Just like his dad but he needs to learn to stay on that side of the ball.
Guys you have some great comments on this. FF27 maybe Ross hates getting blown out but I don’t know about him firing Gase. I think at the end of the season Gase scapegoats Burke and Ross gives him another year.
I hope I am wrong……
Admin I would LOVE to see Rex Ryan come here as the Head Coach!
Here’s the issue with us landing Ryan….. Mike Tannenbaum! I don’t think Ryan tanked in NY so much as he was sabotaged by horrible GM’s. Tannenbaum sold him a bill of goods on many players and I think the Tebow fiasco was then end of their relationship and what ultimately ended Tannenbaums time in NY. Following Tannenbaum Ryan got paired with Idzik who I’m surprised isn’t here helping tank this team.
So Yes I would love to have Rex Ryan here but I doubt he steps foot in the building until Tannenbaums stench is long gone and I don’t see that happing anytime soon.
I wish it would because I would love to land Nick Caserio, Joe Douglas, Alonzo Highsmith or Eliot Wolf as our GM. Out of that list the big get would be Caserio who everyone wants but I would be super excited to get Eliot Wolf who has been the Packers Director of football operations.
Keep in mind we wiffed on Brian Gutekunst who had been the Director of player Personnel for over a decade with the Packers! He was taking interviews when we hired Tannenbaum and we probably could have landed him. That would have been a major upgrade. Eliot Wolf has worked under him for almost a decade so it would still be a huge upgrade from where we are today.
Back to reality……. There is no way Ross blows this whole thing up quite the contrary I suspect if he makes any real moves he will get rid of Gase, give Tannenbaum all the power over the team and players and hire Dan Campell to come back and be the HC.
If you think that is far fetched tell me what other coach is in the wings taking HC interviews who would come to this stink joint.
For the record I think Dan Campbell would be an huge upgrade from Gase and the idiots hes got here!
I think one of the reasons Miami has struggled to hire good coaches is the organization refusing to get rid of people in upper management. From memory multiple coaches turned down the job because Miami refused to bring in the front office people they wanted.
And most of the AFC lose today Fins are still in a good spot so there is no way they blow this up now. Teams are just close if you play smart ball you can get in but I agree it’s no use if you can’t compete with the best…
Patsies get buffalo without their rookie QB had to sign Anderson off the street just typical. Meanwhile I’m sure that the kid will be red hot when they play the Fins twice…
Totally agree, and seems to happen every year. The stars of the opponents get hurt right after they play us and just before they play the Pats.
