Adam Gase on Monday continues to blame injuries for all the Dolphin losses, still refusing to look in the mirror. And the media, once again, let him get away with it.
When asked about his regrets this year, his first reply was to regret all the injuries. He then moved on to change the subject, and the local hack writers let him dictate the conversation.
If I had a press pass, I would politely raise my hand and ask a follow-up: Coach Gase, you led the Bengals by 17 points and faced a third and inches with a few minutes left to play. Why did you call a long bomb?
Another: Coach Gase, you led the Colts by 10 points and faced a third and inches with a few minutes left to play. Why did you call a long bomb?
Another: Coach Gase, why have you been unable to get any production out of any tight end in your 3 years here? When Nick O’Leary came onto the scene in late September and added a spark (including a touchdown in his very first game), why did you remove him from the game plan for the remainder of 2018? You passed to your buddy Julia Thomas all last year and watched her drop pass after pass. But Nick O’Leary gets no chances?
Why did you stop feeding the ball to Kalen Ballage in games when he was red hot?
Why did you stop feeding the ball to Frank Gore in games when he was red hot?
Why did you stop feeding the ball to Jay Ajayi in games when he was red hot?
Why did you stop feeding the ball to Kenyan Drake in games when he was red hot?
Why did you stop feeding the ball to Brandon Bolden in games when he was red hot?
Here’s the point, and I’ve said this repeatedly. It’s something the media REFUSES to challenge Arrogant Adam on: If we had zero injuries this year, would he still have made the wrong call and blown the Bengals game? Yes! The Colt game? Yes.
His pass plays are at the wrong times, and his plays are garbage anyway. Why won’t the media question him about it, and more important, why does Mr. Ross not see this?

Gates is a puts.
Gates is a putz….
Admin,
I saw this story and had a similar reaction to it. One thing that I thought was absolutely ridiculous was that “Gase says he will not lobby for job”
Great if he can’t even figure out why he should be the head coach I think that says about as much as him sitting on the bench by himself in the MIDDLE OF A GAME!
Gase benched himself, now he can’t defend himself.
It’s time for Ross to rid us of this garbage and while hes at it get rid of Tannumbumm too!
Injuries are no excuse and Miami honestly hasn’t been hit as hard as many other teams. The eagles lost their entire secondary and are still in playoff contention. The redskins lost 3 QBs their entire starting oline and their starting running back in training camp and have the same number of wins. The colts have more players on IR than Miami yet there still in playoff contention. The patriots have played multiple games this year without a single healthy running back on the roster having to use a wideout as running back. The titans lost half their starting oline and Mariota for a few games and are still in playoff contention. The Texans also lost half their starting oline and most of their secondary and just locked up a playoff spot.
Watching the MNF game, the Broncos are playing with 4 tackles and a guard playing center. So no,we aren’t the only team with OL injuries or injuries, period. I am so sick of Gayse and his lame excuses. I hope Ross fires him on the 26th,cutting him the indignity of being fired on Christmas, which may have been a first! Also,Gayse needs a cap that fits, the one he waers is 3 sizes too large and covers his constant shame and ability to coach. Wear a cap like a human.
Greg Cote had the best article so far:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/greg-cote-is-loss-that-ended-dolphins-playoffs-hopes-also-beginning-of-the-end-for-gase-and-tannehill/ar-BBRmMHI?ocid=spartanntp
So now there are several articles out there calling for a clean sweep of Gase, Tannumbum and Trannyhill and I agree with them all. One common theme among them though that is a bit discouraging is that they all ask, “….but who do you replace them with?”
Obviously for us as Dolphins we know that is a valid question because for almost two decades the replacements have been worse than the clowns that got replaced which is why it has been brandished around that maybe Ross should sell the team to someone who knows football.
We all know that Ross wont sell the team. It was a wise investment that only grows his money no matter the product on the field. That said I am no longer convinced that Ross is not a Dolphins fan and that in his heart he loves the Jets.
Yes he did try to buy the Jets……. TWICE.
But that makes sense right? He lives in NY so the proximity would be convenient.
One thing I noticed this year is that he is at all the games. Maybe he was in years past and I didn’t notice it but I noticed it this year. I love the Dolphins and I haven’t BEEN to a game in about 7 years. Moreover I missed a few games this year because they sucked and I didn’t really care.
I get the sense that Ross wants to have a great team. Or at the very lest a respectable team.
What sources do I site for this belief? What has Ross said in public that I can point to and validate this belief?
Admittedly not much!
However, the image I’m sure you have all see twenty times of Ross sitting between Marino and Loserbumm holding his head speaks volumes.
I am HOPING that it says….. “We can’t go on like this any longer. I am going to figure a way out of this mess.”
What Ross has said publicly was that he wasn’t sold on Trannyhill and wanted to move on from him last year and specifically in the draft. Ross liked Allen and Jackson and both were there for Miami if Loserbumm and Gase had wanted to make the deals to move up and grab them.
Allen went to the Bills who MOVED to get him and while it’s to early to say if he will be elite the Allen the Dolphins will be facing this week is a vastly better QB than we bearly beat a few weeks ago. In the first 6 games of this year Allen ranked 33 out of 34 QB with a completion rating of 53.4 percent and a passer rating of 50.2. However over the last four games it seems thing have clicked for him and he now ranks 2 out of 34 QB mainly because of his 12% big time throw percentage and only 2 turnovers during that stretch. So while he may not be the next Tom Brady I would have liked to have had him.
Jackson went to the Ravens who moved up to get him. Miami could have moved up to get him too and it wouldn’t have really cost much more than a few draft picks we wasted on TE who can’t play anyhow. All Jackson has done since being inserted as the starter is win! In his first 6 games his team has won 5 of them and is positioned for the Playoffs.
Now Ross stated he wanted one of those players.
What he got was this crap we have been watching each week and Ross has been watching it too and it MUST be reasonable to conclude that in his mind he is screaming, “I know more about running this franchise than these idiots”
I think that is the look on Ross’s face sitting between Marino and Loserbum while watching his idiot coach sitting on the bench and his team hapless all over the field.
I think a clean sweep has already been planed.
I think Ross has talked to the Harbaughs at length and nether one of them wants to come here. Maybe Ross is friends with them and no one wants to destroy that friendship which is exactly what would happen if they came to Miami.
So that takes be back to how I started this post.
For almost 20 years we have all suffered through one bad change after the next.
Poor Karma, at his age, may not have to many regimes to wait though before he gives it up or his heart give out on him.
So who could come in here and rebuild this once, so long ago, proud franchise back into a winner?
The majority of analysis I see continues to blame Tannehill and the front office. That alarms me. It’s ridiculous how many reporters give Gase a free pass. You know who benefits? Gase. Imagine being the director of an offensive scheme that can’t beat the lowly Jags, and then the reporters all blame someone else. Gase must be laughing.
I do not give him such a free pass. No matter who plays QB or what players the GM drafts, Gase will use his faulty logic to blow games. Three seasons full of inadequacies, and it falls on Gase 95%
So the more I read about change needed in the front office, the more irate I get, because it takes the heat off of Gase.
Hopefully front office change means Gase is leaving to. Usually when a team hires a new GM or VP of football operations they allow them to pick a head coach they like. I’m pretty sure if Miami hires smart people to run the front office they will fire Gase before they get on a plane to Miami.
Good stuff Brian. I am afraid they will get rid of Grier only and allow Gase to continue, meaning we get Burke and Tanny
Gase can’t be allowed to stay. A smart franchise would see the Miami is bottom 2 in both offense and defense this year. That the only things Miami did well this year are historically unsustainable from year to year (winning close games and forcing turnovers). Tannehill also in the last half of the year had more dropped picks than any other QB according to PFF. All that means if Miami bring back the same core with Gase and Tanny all signs point to a much worse season next year. Like a 4-12 type year.
I think it was Omar at the Sentinel who placed a ton of blame on the scouts/draft people/GM, but I don’t see it that way.
As I’ve pointed out, this season, we had 3 different rookies score a touchdown…a first in Miami history. Gesicki and Smythe are –so far– busts. But Gase does not know how to use a tight end, so I will wait until we have a new coach (I am praying). Seriously, why can’t our tight ends run a 5 yard slant when we need 4 yards? Such a basic play, and every team runs it against us, but not Gase.
Charles Harris is a bust, as was DeVante Parker. But I’m willing to let that slide because I feel 2018 was an excellent draft, and our GMs might have turned a corner with their talent evaluation.
Besides, I bet you anything that Gase was involved in the talent choosing. No way on earth did Mike Tannenbaum secretly trade Jay Ajayi one night without Gase’s consent. No way did we cut Suh without Gase asking for it. Rather than blaming the GM for these horrible moves, you have to blame the coach who first asked for these moves to happen.
Yes I saw his arrtical to and thought it wasn’t very well thought out because we do know that Gase jade the finial say on all personal moves. It’s what really bothers me because I think Gier and his father who is a consultant are very good talent evaluators. The sad part is we don’t know who picked who and I think most of the talent on this team were signed off on by Gase and that is one huge reason we suck worse now than when he got here.
If Ross gets a real GM no one will be left from this crowd except MAYBE Rizze but even that’s in doubt.
No matter how much player analysis you perform, the Dolphins still have no identity (what do we do well?), still can’t pick up a blitz or handle a stunt, has almost no run defense, has very poor situational play calling, and below average player development. These are all coaching problems. Gase is the Waterboy coach with a spiral notebook of plays but has no advanced coaching skill. I believe that there are a lot of players that would succeed with another coach.
