The Jets and Buccaneers quickly wasted no time in all in getting rid of their unsuccessful coaches.   Stephen Ross, on the other hand, needs more time.

And that, my friends, is nothing but bad news.  You see, the more Ross waits, the more time Adam Gase has to make up excuses, giving Ross reason to think that one more year might do the trick.  Ross’s hesitation shows us that he is not ready to make the call that needs to be made.

The more reporters say that Gase is on the hot seat, the colder that seat gets.

Mr. Ross is a quiet man, so no one knows what he’s thinking.   Mike Tannenbaum or Minkah Fitzpatrick or John Denney could both be gone tomorrow.  Factually, we just don’t know.   All the insiders are just guessing.   I can guess too, only my guesses are educated guesses.   My education comes from analyzing every Dolphins game for the past 20 or so years, never missing a single down, and always rewatching games.   Part of that education also includes studying Mr. Ross’s tendencies, and more specifically, his tendency toward inaction.

Never once has Ross made a hasty decision.  And never once has he made a good decision (about hiring coaches, that is).  Sometimes, you have to pull the trigger instead of watching your ship sink.  Thinking about if it is really sinking will only drown everyone…

  1. Armando claims Rex Ryan is gearing up for coaching interviews in Miami both with the Dolphins and UM but that Rex wants the Dolphins!

To me this is good news and would make sense that Ross hasn’t done this already after the sparono disaster.

Outstanding news if true. College coaching pays about the same, but the stress is a million times less. No cap. 195 players in uniform. 75 different bowl games to go to. I’d pull a Saban if I were Rex, but fingers crossed he comes to Dolphins. I see no indication that Gase will be fired tho. 🙁

    2. Who’s going to do Ryan’s toenails? Does he have someone local? Ryan is a worse choice than Gruden in Oakland/LA/Vegas.

      1. The game has passed Ryan by.

  2. I’m not as high on Rex as you guys. Saw him in Buffalo not win and in New York not win. I know he made the AFC championship twice but he has had years of failure since then. I would much rather Miami go after McCarthy.

    1. I wouldn’t mind McCartny rather but Rex was sabotaged in NY by Tannambum giving him old and limited talent players just like we have now.

They guy can coach and his player love playing for him

      1. I want to agree but then I feel like someone outside of Miami could use that same excuse for Gase.

        1. Maybe but gase can’t coach his way out of a piss soaked paper bag

          1. Oh I agree with you because I watched the dolphins games. My fear is that I don’t know if Rex is the same since I didn’t closely watch his jets teams.

            1. Well I know Tannenbaum kept signing ages players in free agency and his draft picks sucked and after a few years of that nothing worked. As for Rex his guys, injured, old and not all that talented played their tails off for him and he hired assistants and let them do their jobs. Like you I didn’t watch many games but I always thought Rex had good pedigree and could coach.

  3. I would hire Rex in a heartbeat. Gase is worse than Philbin ever was. I thought that was impossible to do.

    1. I don’t know if anyone could be worse than philbum but Gase just isn’t learning same mistakes over and over. If he relinquished play calling he may be ok but I’d still prefer someone new.

I don’t know about Rex lots of hot air. He’s not stupid knows D but eventually he grows old. I think that they could do better. McCarthy would be better but I guess anyone better than long bombs when you need inches to keep drives alive…

  4. The one thing we get with Ryan is Good defense, which we don’t remotely have. We would have to hope that he has developed offensively since his last stent. Whatever the case, I want experienced coaching in all positions. No more young gurus with 1 lucky season or aided by a superstar BS artist.

  5. The real question is who is gonna replace Tannehill and what does Miami do with its first round pick this year. A lot of really good defensive linemen coming out, not many good QBs does Miami force a early pick on a QB anyway? I really don’t know the answer to that because I feel like it’s way more logical to take a defensive tackle but I just can’t watch Tannehill start another game for Miami, these last two games have drove me insane.

    1. Whoever that kid that plays qb for Alabama is I say we move to wherever and grab him.

If he doesn’t work we do the same thing next year and if that doesn’t work we do it the year after until we have the elite QB

    2. They should have moved up this year but didn’t. That sealer our fate for 2 more years at least. ow its free agents Bilgewater probably. And Todd Bowels back as DC. I’d take McCarthy over Coach Painted Toenails all day long.

Bridgewater looked like shit water today.

        1. He has upside-Tranny doesn’t. So we have him for 1-2 seasons and groom anyone with a pulse.

  6. Ok so in some bizarre twist of comedy Manny Diez is now the HC of the Hurricanes so if Rex is going to be interviewing for HC of one of the Miami Football teams it only leaves one left!

  7. Admin, give Ross a break! He is still smarting over his FAVORITE team getting crushed in a bowl game 10 days ago!

Rex Ryan will not sit on a bench all by himself looking for answers.

    1. He has to-you can’t get your toenails done standing up!

  9. On a brighter note: Confirmed: Manny Diaz will replace Mark Richt as the new Miami Hurricanes head coach.

And like a lot of us have said for several years, a HC with previous HC experience is valuable. Far more real experience than a hotshot coordinator who Ross gives charity jobs to.

    1. I agree but the game has passed Ryan by.

Real tough schedule next year, with Colts Chargers Ravens Steelers Cowboys and Pats twice. Lot of playoff teams there

    1. Yep,I’ll say 5 wins again next season. I was shocked this year but we could have easily been 5-10 going in to the nut-crushing beatdown today.

      1. We got beat by 2 10-loss teams and crushed by one of them. Awful OL & DL. I’ll stop there. Yeah,we have good players-LOL! We need to break up this losing juggernaut and start fresh. Seriously, top to bottom. Blow it up.

Bills and Vikes games, we started so far behind, fought ourselves back into game, then tanked. Gase’s attitude is to make it close in the 2nd quarter, so we have hope, then lose by 30

  12. It’s over thank god peace out Gase hope that door doesn’t hit you on the way out, don’t forget to take Tanny with you!

  13. Ok boys it’s better than we had thought. Gase is gone and like me I’m sure we all knew he should have been but we didn’t have the confidence that Ross would pull the trigger.

I am not sure how I feel about Gier ad VP yet but I can tell you exactly how I feel about Tannenbaum being reassigned, I would reassign him to trash duty, I wouldnt have that losser within 1500 miles of Davie Florida.

Anyhow we’re way better off without Gase and his no experience coordinators.

Now if we can just work on getting Ross on this blogs RSS feed!

  14. At this point Rex Ryan or Mike McCarthy are my top choices for HC. Who are you guys hoping for?

I just posted a new blog entry with the well-known candidates. Rex tops my list, and McCarthy would be great. I am leery of either Harbaugh
