So a fan shows up at Dolphins training camp and demands to speak to Coach Adam Gase.
The security guard says, “I’m sorry. But Adam Gase is no longer head coach.”
A week later, the same fan shows up again and asks the same guard to let him talk to Coach Adam Gase. Again the guard says that Adam Gase is no longer the head coach.
Another week, and the fan once again asks to speak to Coach Adam Gase. This time, the guard is angry.
He says, “Listen, Adam Gase is not our head coach. Don’t you get it? Gase is gone. Adam Gase is not the coach!! Adam Gase is not the coach!!”
The fan says, “I know. I just like the sound of that.”
The guard fist-bumps him and says, “Cool, see ya next week.”
Today and tomorrow they interview Brian Flores from the Patsies. Belichick has told him to go under the guise of an interview simply to know what our plans are.
Interesting how myself and all my regular readers are pretty much all opposed to elevating some other team’s coordinator to our head position. I’m sure Mr Flores is a good coach, but i suspect he’s coming in to satisfy the Racist Rule, I mean Rooney rule.
Flores hasn’t been at it long enough nor paid the right dues…then again, neither did gase.
True that. Every time I pick up my phone another player or former Dolphin player is praising Rizzi. If I were a gambling man I’d say he’ll get the job.
The players’ wishes are always ignored in these cases. If we were to elevate a coordinator, then i’m fine with Rizzi over some other team’s coordinator. By the way, I didn’t see current players praise Rizzi. It’s third-string has-beens like Michael Thomas and Brian Hartline and Spencer Paysinger.

Again,has anyone been promoted from Special Teams/Leading Screamer to HC? I can’t remember . Rams got it right promoting just out of high school-figuratively. He was OC for only 2 years with Redskins.
Harbaugh apparently was a ST coach so it can work but how often? I wouldn’t be upset with Rizzi if he has solid coordinators…but still prefer a guy who’s done it. It’s been too many years of trials if a newbie flops again and wastes another 3-4 years most of us couldn’t handle it haha!
If it has to be Rizzi then so be it. But I hope the D-coordinator is an old vet who has built a defense before successfully.

I watched the end of the Browns-Ravens last Sunday, when the Browns had nothing to play for and the Ravens were fighting for their playoff lives.
Browns were about 10 yards away from Field goal range for the win.
The announcers said that Baltimore will blitz 4 downs in a row. No way on earth they will give Baker Mayfield any time. They are gonna come, and Baker knows their gonna come.
So, guess what? 4 downs in a row, they blitzed like crazy, and Baker threw 3 incompletions and then an interception. A furiious pass rush often cannot be defended, even when the opponent knows it’s coming.
Compare that to the Dolphins and Burke’s mentality, which is to rush 3 guys and leave 8 deep…daring a QB to find someone open. Guys what? They always do
