In the continuing battle of inept and uninformative reporting that seems to surround the Miami Dolphins, the Herald today had an article with a headline about: “Joe Philbin’s Future is in Stephen Ross’s Hands.”
Really? An owner has authority to hire and fire a coach? I had no idea about that until I read the Miami Herald’s thrilling expose.
They also had an article about the Dolphins playing for pride, which is the same old stuff you read every time a team is eliminated. These articles are less than captivating, and they inspire us at Dolphins Truth to keep our little blog alive.
So as we move on the upcoming Vikings game, here are a few things to look for. While the Dolphins are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, they are dead in the water, and there is no hope. Joe Philbin has to stop this nonsense about there is still a chance.
With that in mind, it’s time for Joe to make some personnel moves. These games do not count, so we have nothing to lose…
- Let’s see Chris McCain.
- Let’s see Dion Jordan at LB.
- Let’s see Billy Turner and Jason Fox start the game.
- Throw Jamar Taylor out there for 60 full minutes.
- Cut Damian Williams for that absolutely inexcusable drop of a touchdown pass.
- Try a trick play for God’s sake.
- Give LaMichael James 25 carries and see if he’s worth keeping.
- Save your stars and play them sparingly. Remember, a lot of injuries take a year to heal. We don’t need Cam Wake tearing his Achilles in a meaningless game and not be available until 2016.
- Let Coyle and Lazor call their plays with absolutely zero interference from Joe Philbin. Joey just needs to vow that he will not overrule a single play these guys call.
- Try Caleb Sturgis as a punter, because Brandon Fields and his 40-yard average makes too much money to be around next year.
- Could be Matt Moore’s last two games in a Dolphins uniform, and he deserves a little playing time.

Let’s see Chris McCain. = YES PLEASE!
•Let’s see Dion Jordan at LB. = FINALLY!
•Let’s see Billy Turner and Jason Fox start the game. =CHECK!
•Throw Jamar Taylor out there for 60 full minutes. =CHECK +
•Cut Damian Williams for that absolutely inexcusable drop of a touchdown pass. = Ride the bench and suck wind. You just screwed your career coming out party. You deserve some penance!
•Try a trick play for God’s sake.= FUMBLE!
•Give LaMichael James 25 carries and see if he’s worth keeping. YES MIGHT AS WELL!
•Save your stars and play them sparingly. Remember, a lot of injuries take a year to heal. We don’t need Cam Wake tearing his Achilles in a meaningless game and not be available until 2016. = We need some wins for morale and Wake’s too. NO!
•Let Coyle and Lazor call their plays with absolutely zero interference from Joe Philbin. Joey just needs to vow that he will not overrule a single play these guys call. YES! DOUBLE YES! TRIPLE YES! QUADRUPLE YES! QUINTUPLE YES! SEXTUPLE YES!
•Try Caleb Sturgis as a punter, because Brandon Fields and his 40-yard average makes too much money to be around next year. = MIGHT AS WELL!
•Could be Matt Moore’s last two games in a Dolphins uniform, and he deserves a little playing time. = Tannehill needs all the developing time he can get. Matt makes more than T-Hill let him fend for himself when he’s done. Sad cause Moore’s talent kept D-Lineman from sacking T-Hill with too much force for risk of injuring him b/c they didn’t want to face Matt Moore as his replacement. Now that’s food for thought.
Nice suggestions – good on luck on all of them!
I agree with the suggestions and PhinsUp’s comments.
Ah…Matt Moore. After the 2010 season I mistakenly assumed he’d be our quarterback, and that Ireland would focus on the O-line. Nope! I also had a feeling (albeit a small one) that Bowles would be our coach – after him having coached himself to a 66% record. Nope! I figured at the time the Dolphins could save a LOT of time and money searching when they had good people right here already on the team. Nope!
Sorry – didn’t mean to rehash. Let’s hope the Dolphins win the last 2 games! Although part of me wants them to lose, just to get rid of Philbin – hey wait…didn’t he do that last year, and they still kept him? Oh well….
Yep, Bowles has a better record as Dolphins coach than does Philbin.
