I’m not a big fan of bye weeks.  Never have been. The NFL switched to 16 games in 17 weeks because of extra money and tv advertising.   As if the multi-billion dollar league needed a few extra bucks. The timing of bye weeks is arbitrary and unfair.  Some teams get their byes early, and some late, and it’s a crapshoot each year as to when the league will grant them. Glad to see reports today of a tough practice, with more than one fight breaking out under first-day coach Dan Campbell. I think toughness on the playing field is an asset, but not the only component of a successful team.  You also need smarts and discipline.  Sadly, the Dolphins lacked ALL of that under Joe Philbin, especially this season so far. It ain’t over yet.  If anything, it’s just beginning. Like we’ve been saying for 4 straight weeks, we’re about to face a team with a very pathetic offense and an unknown young quarterback who should be susceptible to blitzes as long as we don’t make it easy for him. When Joe Philbin was first hired several years ago, this site did not exist. But I can share some of my thoughts at the time.  I swear, I’m not saying this in hindsight.  It’s really what I felt at the time. Various media sources are reporting that Stephen Ross and Clueless Joe Philbin had a private meeting in London, after the Dolphins were embarrassed on an international stage. The good news?  Well, there is no good news, except for Philbin, who related that he and Mr. Ross had a good talk and that his job is safe. When Joe Philbin talks, people listen. While all the media and so-called experts are saying Joe Philbin is on thin ice, as well as the rest of his staff,don’t expect anything soon. Miko Grimes, social media darling and outspoken Dolfan, was arrested during the game today. We can’t confirm yet what exactly she did, but there was speculation that getting arrested was a better fate than having to watch the game. Despite some negativity and doubt this week, the Dolphins have a team that can beat the Bills.   I am not convinced the Bills are a strong team, and let’s hope we can prove it today. Here’s how: Our offense must score points often, and that has not been occurring.   Philbin/Lazor simply MUST come up with a better game plan to beat the Bills and their stout defense. On the positive side, the Dolphins have played two crappy games in a row, and we’re due  for a good one. Will Davis, who we so desperately need at cornerback, has been traded for a draft choice to the Baltimore Ravens.
