Dolphins Truth

Dion Jordan has been suspended for the entire season. NOW will all the Dolphin Truth haters begin to believe me? NOW will you please stop demanding that Dion be moved to linebacker? NOW will you please admit he is a bust?   Thanks to Dion forRead More →

THIS JUST IN.  DOLPHINS  HAVE SIGNED WIDE RECEIVER GREG JENNINGS. The schedule is out. And there some good things and some bad things. The bad things are compounded by the fact that Stephen Ross–and not the NFL–made them bad. More on that later. Let’s start with the good, for all the Dolphins Truth naysayers who claim that we never have anything positive to say! It’s good to play the bad teams on the road. When we have to play the really difficult teams, we need every bit of help we can get, and home field advantage helps. Playing a difficult team on the road makesRead More →

The wait is over.  On Tuesday. we’ll learn not only who and where the Dolphins play, but when. In recent years, the “when” has not been good for the Dolphins.  We closed out the season at home the last two years, and blew both games to a vastly inferior New York Jets team.   So I’m not too concerned about where our season openers and finales are. I’m more concerned with spacing out and away games.   The NFL is not Major League Baseball.   There is no reason for any team to have to play 2 or even three road games in a row.Read More →

This week, the Dolphins signed cornerback Zack Bowman and re-signed center (maybe guard) Mike Pouncey. Neither move has me overly excited, yet they are both good movies. Pouncey, who supported his friend and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez and who was involved in the Jonathan Martin teasing, has a lot to prove still. Was it immature of him to publically say that Aaron Hernandez should be freed? Not my place to say. I don’t care about a man’s immaturity nor his taste in friends, as long as he’s an excellent player. So that brings up the question: Is Pouncey an excellent player? He’s certainly good, andRead More →

As we look forward to the 2015 draft, the Dolphins have just as many holes, if not more, than at last year’s draft. Our current pre-draft offensive line might be more settled than last year, but we’re short on WRs, LBs, and (as always) DBs. No matter what players we pick, the Dolphin coaches need to do a better job of utilizing them. Today we’re going to examine Bill Lazor’s offense…what went wrong and what needs to be done. All the best offensive players in the world will not help the Dolphins unless Lazor and Philbin utilize them properly. As we went back and reviewedRead More →

Sometimes the mainstream media who cover the Dolphins  just don’t get it.   They are duped into writing things that seem accurate, but they just aren’t true. Here at Dolphins Truth, we pride ourselves on digging deeper.  We don’t just report about what Joe Philbin says as if it were fact, but we analyze it, and (in most cases) we can demonstrate why Philbin is wrong so often. In today’s Miami Herald, for example, the usually reliable but a little-too-naive Armando Salguero wrote this: “Joe Philbin knows the results haven’t been good enough. He knows his players haven’t been good enough. He knows his assistant coachesRead More →

For the third year in a row, we’re hearing all kinds of rumors about Dion Jordan moving to linebacker. Yes, the Dolphins need a linebacker.  Yes, Dion Jordan has done absolutely nothing as a defensive end.  But, no, the Dolphins aren’t moving him anywhere. Head Coach Joe Philbin recently squashed all rumors when he determinedly stated that Dion Jordan would remain at defensive end.  This bothers some Dolfans, who want to see Jordan be given a fair chance at linebacker, especially given the need we have there. There are two sides to this, and both are bad. One, it’s always a bad sign when aRead More →

Dolphins Truth has been waiting for the dust to settle before writing this latest article about all the recent cuts, signings, and other news. While some media outlets were writing about Mike Wallace getting traded weeks ago, it didn’t happen until today. And what about all the rumors of Charles Clay signing with the Bills? Or how about NBC reporting that Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron is secretly heading back to the Browns.  Where do these guys come up with this nonsense, and how do they have the nerve to report these rumors as fact? We at Dolphins Truth think it’s better to wait a minute, examineRead More →

The Jets have acquired former Dolphin and Pro Bowl MVP Brandon Marshall. You remember Marshall, right?  He was the Pro Bowler who was traded away from the Dolphins, apparently because Joe Philbin thought that Marlon Moore and Davonne Bess would be better playmakers. I know some Dolfans never liked Marshall.  They point out his drops and stuff like that.  But Mike Wallace had drops too.  That doesn’t make these guys are bad players.  They are still playmakers.  Still the best receivers on their team.  Still fast and still clutch. Now we have to defend this beast twice a year.  Half of our WR corps hasRead More →

When Jason Fox first signed as a Dolphin last year, we at Dolphins Truth thought he would have more impact.  We studied him a lot, and found he was tough as nails and thought he’d be a great addition. Now, we still like him, but our opinion is lower.  He is tough, but he proved that he can be out-finessed but some of the NFL’s better defensive linemen.  But Fox adds depth and stability, and those are important factors for an offensive line that needs it. He is not an All Pro, but he is a valuable player, and this is a great re-signing. BrandonRead More →

Dolphins Truth was hesitating to comment on the release of Brian Hartline, Nate Garner, and Brandon Gibson until the dust had settled.  And so here we are. But first, the really exciting news!! The Dolphins have hired a new director of sports performance or some meaningless title like that.  A team in desperate need of a new coach instead hires a guy who will magically make all ACLs go away, and he will fix concussions with the power of his mind.  What a waste of money. For the people who believe the Stephen Ross conspiracy theories, this hire is intriguing.  Lots of rumors out thereRead More →

Reggie averaged over a thousand yards in each of his two Dolphins seasons. He worked hard and produced some amazing, electrifying runs, and he was deadly on screen passes.  Despite his production, Joe Philbin felt he wasn’t good enough to be a Dolphin. We really like Mike Gillislee and hope he can recover from his injury.  But Reggie is twice the back that Gillislee is, and his proven experience could make him and Lamar Miller a deadly combination. Bring back Knowshon Moreno, and we could give any team in the league matchup nightmares. This is all conjecture, of course.  Joe Philbin has proven that heRead More →

Thanks to reader Rik for pointing out Yahoo Sports’ recent rankings of all the coaches in the NFL…a list on which Joe Philbin finished dead last. Philbin in last place is not a surprise.  It’s accurate and fair.  And a little bit sad. But the saddest part is not that Philbin is ranked last.  The saddest part is that us Dolphin fans cannot argue the point.  That is depressing. Imagine if someone said that the Dolphins are the worst team in the NFL.  Or Cam Wake is the worst defensive end in the league.  Or someone said that Ryan Tannehill is the worst QB inRead More →

When a child gets behind the wheel of a car and runs into a tree, You don’t blame the child. He didn’t know any better.   You blame the idiot authority figure who handed him the keys and said, “Drive, kid. I trust you.“ That’s a bastardized quote from Pam in The Office. It also brilliantly portrays the quagmire the Dolphins are in thanks to Clueless Joe Philbin’s management style. Philbin kicks Pro-Bowlers off the team. He calls time outs to help the opponent. He passes when it’s 3rd and inches. He kicks whenever it’s 4th and inches. He hires his friends and their relatives. He admits heRead More →

Pro Bowl guard Richie Incognito is now a member of the arch-rival Buffalo Bills, and that is bad news for Dolfans. It’s just another item in the long list of exciting news that is occurring for the 3 other AFC East teams, while Stephen Ross keeps the Dolphins mired in morbose mediocrity. 2015 has been filled with exciting news for 3 of the 4 teams in the AFC East. The Patriots were handed a free Super Bowl victory. The Bills got a tough-as-nails head coach with a chip on his shoulder.  They also got Richie Incognito, a Pro Bowl guard who Miami should have kept.Read More →

Pete Philbin, I mean Carroll handed a free victory to the opponent in a similar way to how Joe Philbin has handed free victories to Dolphin opponents for three years. But in the case, Carroll did it on a stage where the whole world was watching.  Half the world saw his blunder.  And we also saw his insane rationalization. In case you missed his excuse, he said that when Seattle got ready for the 2nd-and-goal play, New England came out in a goal line defense, which Seattle wasn’t ready for. Apparently Pete didn’t expect  New England to use a goal line defense on the goalRead More →
