So this week, the Dolphins were in the news again because Minkah Fitzpatrick’s mom mouthed off (correctly so) about her son being played out of position.  It’s pretty sad when an old lady knows more about coaching that our alleged professional staff.   Just like when Miko Grimes wasn’t really off base in her analyses.  These ladies are loud and vocal, bit they make strong points. Nothing really matters in pre-season, so let’s get that right out in the open.  Yet despite that, some things become noticeable, if not meaningful. Our new defensive line looked horrendous.  In a normal pre-season game, you don’t read into it too much.  However, I must point out that our STARTING defensive line stayed in the game until the 4th quarter.   So our boys were getting shoved aside by Atlanta’s 4th and 5th stringers.  Guys who will be working construction in a few weeks were getting the best of Christian Wilkins.  Charles Harris, as usual, was a non factor.   The other guys?  Invisible as well. Every single year it seems, without fail, we hear the same old stories in Dolphins camp that we don’t necessarily hear from other teams. This time around, it’s the usual July-August stories about all the Dolphins who are under the radar. I’ve barely heard a word about first-round pick Christian Wilkins.  Our star QB, Josh Rosen, is under-performing and not making any notable strides.   So our two star acquisitions are floundering away, but we keep hearing about the undrafted rookies. Citing a health issue, Jim Caldwell has “stepped back” from his role of assistant head coach and will now be merely a consultant. As I always say, there is no good news that ever comes out of June or July, and this is bad news. So, Reshad Jones is an intriguing guy. He skipped last month’s voluntary team workouts but did report to the mandatory practices that began today.  He said he skipped the May sessions because “voluntary means voluntary.”   Um, okay. Senorise Perry, a backup Dolphin running back for several seasons, is now on the Bills.  Perry is a little-used substitute on an awful team in a city with zero sports titles.  This part isn’t newsworthy.  No one cares. So why the news?  Perry has chosen to wear #32.   The Bills have not allowed anyone to wear that number since The Juice left Buffalo in the late 1970s.   It’s a pretty ballsy move for Perry to request that number.   Gotta give him credit. So we’ll be a taking a bit of a hiatus for the first few weeks in May. I’ll leave everything up and running so you guys can talk about all things Dolphins. Make no mistake about this:   Coach Brian Flores and GM Chris Grier know who their starting QB is. Well, apparently we’re stuck with Charles Harris as our leading sack monster.   He has two sacks in two years, and yet our brain trusts thought it was better to waste draft picks on running backs and a project LB with pretty long hair who left many pundits scratching their heads.   We really really needed a DE or two. We might be getting close to a new QB… I don’t know enough about the guy to judge yet, but i know he was highly touted LAST year.   During the season, he had a lot of bust-like qualities.  But did he get a fair shot with that awful Cardinal line?
