We’ll be posting a blog this week about the continuing mess that is the Dolphins’ front office.  But for now, here are a few quick thoughts… In the past, there was at least some debate about whose fault things were.  Do you blame our clueless an inept head strategist, Joey Philbin?  Or do you blame the man who hired him and allowed such incorrect decisions to fester? Now we have our answer.  Clear as day. Mr. Stephen Ross has just given Joe Philbin a fourth year on the job, and this is devastatingly bad news for Dolfans everywhere. The only good thing about this situationRead More →

Will this misery never end? Joe Philbin’s inept and incorrect decisions in the first half set the Dolphins up for failure.  More to come on this. Can we sign Rex Ryan now, or do we have to wait another week? Minnesota has among the worst offenses out there, and theyRead More →

Rumors continue about the future of Joe Philbin in Miami, including a report from the Miami Herald that said Stephen Ross hasn’t had any discussions or thoughts about replacing Philbin. First of all, unless the Herald spies on Mr. Ross 24/7, they have no idea what he discusses and with whom. Secondly, Ross would be foolishly naive if he hasn’t at least  thought about firing Philbin.   He probably has discussed it at some point.  It is laughable to think that the ONLY thing on Stephen Ross’s mind this week is how toRead More →

In the continuing battle of inept and uninformative reporting that seems to surround the Miami Dolphins, the Herald today had an article with a headline about: “Joe Philbin’s Future is in Stephen Ross’s Hands.” Really?  An owner has authority to hire and fire a coach?   I had no idea about that until I read the Miami Herald’s thrilling expose. They also had an article about the Dolphins playing for pride, which is the same old stuff you read every time a team is eliminated.  These articles are less than captivating, and theyRead More →

A quick look at the high points and low points of the Dolphins loss to New  England. The HIGHS: Caleb Sturgis hit on a long field goal. He has slowly become more reliable as the season’s gone on. Let’s hope this continues into next year. And I don’t think the blocked field goal was his fault; the right side of the line just caved in on him. Mike Wallace made a few incredible catches, some of which were on underthrown balls that he had to adjust to. Lamar Miller continues to do his job well and earn my respect. I underestimated him at the beginningRead More →

What a surprise! ‘Tis the season for sports writers and alleged Dolphin experts to recycle the same old articles they published last year.  And the year before.  And the…you get the idea. It’s not even 48 hours after the Dolphins lost, and already the “news” about Jon Gruden coming to Miami are out there.  The Miami Herald columnists are saying Philbin is gone.  The Phinsider site is copying rumors they dig up on other blogs and repeating it.   (The Phinsider allows people to copy other writers’ material, but they do not allow you to make comments disagreeing with them). Since yesterday, you can find rumor-filledRead More →

First play was great.   Ball was underthrown, but we will take it. Dallas Thomas gets the start.  Philbin simply afraid to bench anyone and hurt their feelings. Everyone knows that the referees favor the Patriots, especially at home.  It is a simple fact.  But don’t take my word for it.  Look at the photo here: This is right before the second play from scrimmage, right after Miami’s long pass.  Note that the Dolphins are lined up and ready to go.  Look at the top right.  A Patriot (#52) is jogging off the field.  AND he is offside.  Tannehill just has to snap the ball,Read More →

As our regular readers know, Dolphins Truth can be opinionated. Yes, we try to stick to the facts and to the truth, but at times we can’t help ourselves… and we have to take a dig at a particular opponent, the league, other writers, or (more often than we want to) Joe Philbin. But one thing we always encourage is a great interaction with our readers. We do not censor any opinion you guys want to comment on. Whether you’re a Dolphin fan who comes here to socialize with your fellow fans, or you’re a Bills or Jets fan who came here to troll andRead More →

So now that the dust has settled after the Dolphins were defeated pretty badly by the Ravens, it’s time to realize that the situation is not as dire as some people think. Losing an important game in Week 14 is a LOT better than losing in Week 17, as we learned last year. So maybe Sunday’s loss was the rock bottom that we needed to hit in order to start bouncing back. The Dolphins sit at 7-6 and are still in the playoff mix. We are only one game behind the two wildcard teams (8-5 teams Pittsburgh and San Diego). We have three weeks toRead More →

There was a play in Sunday’s game vs. the Baltimore Ravens that I felt Joe Philbin made a poor decision on.   But I didn’t have a chance to write about it until now, because there were too many other Philbin mistakes to write about. But now that I had a chance to review and analyze the play in depth, Joe Philbin’s error is 10 times more devastating than I first thought.  He cost us yet another game because he made an incorrect decision.  Again. And this one is a doozy!  All Dolfans should be furious at him all over again. It was the 3rdRead More →

Not a lot of Highs this week. Brian Hartline’s touchdown catch was impressive.  Tannehill threw that ball a hundred miles an hour, and Hartline was only 5 yards away.  Somehow he corralled that ball into his body and fell without dropping it.  A great catch and pass. Caleb Strugis is recovering from a shaky start.  His 3 points early on from a 40+ field goal set the tone.  We couldn’t sustain it, but it was a nice start.  In the past, he would miss those andRead More →

In Sunday’s tough loss to the Ravens, it seems overly simple to say that only two plays determined the outcome.  But when you look into it further, you’ll see the point. One was a gutsy call by the game’s winner, John Harbaugh.  The other was a typically conservative and incorrect (as usual) call by loser Joe Philbin.   The first play occurred at the end of the first quarter.  We had the Ravens pinned back in punt formation as the quarter wound down.  Joe Philbin called a timeout to make them punt into the wind, and we don’t mind that timeout. But his very nextRead More →
