This has to be among the most predictable discussions of all time.  The Miami Herald reported on what Chris Grier had to say about the Watson trade, his last draft etc.

Even before I read Grier’s words, I predicted 100% what he was going to say.

“We always explore all options, Watson included.”

“We are happy with our draft.   No regrets.”

“We love Tua.  He is our man.”

“Giving up the #3 overall pick PLUS a #1 pick next year in order to move up 6 spots in the 2021 draft?  We feel good about that.   We made the right call.”

Anyway, here are his predictable answers:   https://www.yahoo.com/news/dolphins-chris-grier-discusses-deshaun-141751117.html

    1. At the end of the article it mentions Tua may demand a trade, although he likely wouldn’t. But this whole ordeal is flat out disrespect to Tua. We saw this happen to Sparano too. Ross doesn’t understand football culture it seems. As long a Ross owns the team, we are doomed to be the laughingstock bottom feeders of the NFL. Sadly.

      1. I hear this a lot. The die is cast. His NFL 32 made-man successor is Bruce Beal, Jr. Another star fucker who isn’t any better the Ross. Hoes his protege. It’s the Eagle’s model.

Yes, very true. Beal is out of the spotlight for the most part, but you can Google him. A billionaire NY City real estate developer without ties to the Miami community or to the Dolphins and their fans. Sound familiar?

  1. We could have stayed at #3 and drafted Pitts……

Yep. Plus…(and I know some of you regular readers disagree with me)…I think we could have stayed at 12 and still gotten Waddle.
I think that Waddle would NOT have been selected between 7 and 11. I think he woulda been there at 12 if Grier did not panic and give up a #1 draft pick to move up only 6 spots.

    2. The move was to sign Green Bay’s all-pro center and then draft Sewell at 3. This fixes the O-line for 8 years.

I think the move was defense. We have the most “average” LB corps in NFL history. They are not horrendous, but they don’t make game-changing plays either. Secondary is fine, but opponents are learning to find weaknesses.
D-line is another sub-par group. I know you cannot snap your fingers and create a new Jason Taylor or Cameron Wake, but you have to try. Our ends are not feared by any opponent. They don’t sack anyone consistently. Rather than drafting Hunter Long or Jevon Holland or Larnel Coleman, why not take a chance on a hungry LB or DE prospect.
Or O line. Anything other than an undersized slot receiver.

        1. If you go defense in the last draft then M. Parsons was the guy. Already looking like a defensive protogy in Dallas.

  2. There lies the problem…Grier. He’s horrific-when is this going to stop? This team has had a quality GM in ages….and I don’t think Ireland was of the quality some have touted him to be. A good GM will have the respect of the league and coaches-uh, no respect here. Start with good GM first and foremost…not these guys that have had the title and stink. But again, who is going to WANT to come here with a moron for an owner? We are stuck until Ross croaks or sells the team. Ross pulling another Sparano is beyond embarrassing! How can he not be embarrassed for being an a$$?

  3. Has NOT had a quality GM-I’m frustrated when I type.

      1. Agreed. Grier works the draft like a 14 year old playing madden, wheeling and dealing picks just for the sake of wheeling and dealing. I really didn’t mind the trade back to 12, we got some value, but the recent string of #1’s has been less than we need. I do like Tua though, he’s showing more leadership and the ball really zips out of his arm.

LOL, I always says Brian Flores runs a game like he’s playing Madden with his young sons. “Yeah, let’s go for it on 4th down in our own territory. It’ll be fun!!”

  4. Admin, I did read your comparison. I didn’t like Ireland that much, though he did some good deals, but not enough to make me feel he was that prized a GM…again, this is my opinion and I will agree to disagree. Who is this owner going to listen to? He’s not a football man-never was, never will be. He has a crappy GM and HC that doesn’t really have the experience to right this team. Starts at the top-the top lacks full commitment, possesses no dedicated football acumen to his organization, the Miami Dolphins. What’s next for this team? Another botched head coaching hire? We messed up the prized winner we thought we had.

I’ve said from day one that Ross tired to be all things to all people. I think is is good at heart but he never concentrated on the Miami Dolphins. It was always something sorta-kinda related, like bringing soccer and NASCAR to Miami. Eh, nice for the city, but the Dolphins didn’t benefit. Sending his team to London every other year? Again, nice ambassadorship for the NFL, but horrible for the Dolphins to give up a home game. Trying to improve the team with mangled efforts to get Harbaugh and Watson? His intentions meant well, but they caused the Dolphins embarrassment. The list goes on and it’s long.

  5. After seeing the Jets play the Colts I realize we aren’t winning another game this year.

    1. Yep. Sunday’s game is the Toilet Bowl.

  6. I am liking Tua’s progression this season. Aside from the horrible redzone pics, he is definitely showing improvement. He needs to know when to call time outs when the offense can’t get lined up for sure. The coordinators are the biggest concern! We need offensive and defensive coordinators that have been head coaches before!
