Mr. Ross, I owe you an apology.  You DID make the right call after all. You DID give us the best present we could ask for.

Arrogant Adam Gase is gone.

Yes, the dust hasn’t settled yet, and our new coach might be worse, but I doubt it.   Even so, let’s revel in the holiday joy for a while and take it all in.  No more Gase.

  • We might run a QB sneak now.
  • We might utilize a position called Tight End, something unknown to Gase.
  • We might keep our good players.
  • We might have a coach who hires professionals and not his friends. Or relatives.*
  • We might run a QB sneak.
  • A coach who might accept blame.
  • A coach who is engaged on game days, instead of sitting down on the bench by himself.
  • A coach who won’t call for 75-yard bombs when we need a handoff to ice a win.
  • A coach who will stick to successful plays.
  • A coach who will abandon unsuccessful plays.
  • Did I mention a QB sneak?

Reports indicate that Adam was Arrogant right up until the bitter end.   Ross wanted to keep him but make him give up roster/personnel moves.  Gase said no!  The man who got rid of Ajayi and Landry refused to alter his role a little, and chose to hit the road.   Indeed, right up until the end, Gase still feels he’ll easily find a new job coaching elsewhere.

Good riddance, you arrogant piece of shit.

The next step is for the Dolphins to interview a black candidate just to appease the ridiculous, racist Rooney rule.   After that, the list of candidates is big.   We heard about Rex yesterday.   The Harbaugh brothers have some complications, so I don’t wanna pursue those (Jim doesn’t wanna come here and John is under contract). Recently fired Marv Lewis and Todd Bowles.   A few other sub-par guys from the Cards and Buccaneers who got canned yesterday.   Mike McCarthy and a Jim Caldwell as well.

Ross promoted Chris Grier to an executive position with hiring power for a head coach.  The tax situation and weather make Miami an attractive port for these coaches.     So Ross and Grier need to ensure the next coach wants to win, and not just want to take a cushy job in Miami.   It’s a caveat, but they need to hire the man who wants to win, and doesn’t want to use his position to prove how smart he is.

*ESPN had an article to rank all the coaching candidates.   Believe it or not Zac Taylor made the list!!   Seriously, I cannot make it up.   You guys remember Zac, he is Mike Sherman’s son-in-law who Ross allowed Philbin to allow Sherman to hire to coach our QBs!!   http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25626408/nfl-coaching-candidates-hire-2019-espn-panelists-make-their-picks

  1. I think Rex or McCarthy right now. Arians said he is interested in the Bucs. Who are you guys hoping for?

  2. If Greg Williams doesn’t stay in Cleveland he would be a great DC.

  3. Author

My main wish would be to NOT hire a retread. Marv Lewis would be a terrible choice, for example. Dirk Koetter from Tampa is another.
I do not put Rex in that category for the main reason that he got to 2 AFC title games…with Mark Sanchez. That is a huge accomplishment.
Even bigger accomplishment is winning the Super Bowl, and that’s where McCarthy comes in. However, it’s doubtful if he would take a job unless he controls everything, and I don’t think Ross is willing to do that this time around.
Another name I have always always liked is Brian Billick. He’s never on anyone’s radar but he was a helluva coach, and if I had to pick someone from outside of the names we keep hearing, he would be my sleeper

    1. Game has passed Ryan by-non-starter. Next.

  4. Jim Swartz HC-DC -Mike Shula -OC and plan B,Rizzi -HC

    1. Author

I’d like Schwartz. His defense won the Super Bowl AND he was a HC before and has learned from mistakes. Ross wouldn’t be giving the job to a novice, like he did with Philbin and Gase.
Shula would have something to prove and work his ass off. Not opposed to him either.
Rizzi…now that’s interesting. He shows more passion on a single punt than Gase showed in 3 years.

      1. Rizzi would have an accurate pulse on this team,he’s engaged in the game,he seems to be able to evaluate talent and I think the players respect and enjoy playing for him.The only reason he’s not my “first” choice is lack of experience. But with strong OC /DC around him I could see it happening..like McVay out west

      2. Lol….. I like Rizzi but there are to many good options in front of him.

Obviously I like Rex because he coached the heck out of the jets teams tannabum gave him and I’m sorry but after years of soft spoken loser coaches I’m in the mood for a loud mouth coach who wants to beat the hell out of everyone.

Swartz too is a great coach, would he take the Miami job? I doubt it but he would be a hell of a get too.

Your mention of Bilick is 100% and I had forgotten him but I would take him over everyone on the list.

        1. Rex is not in consideration for the job according to Grier…..thank god

          1. Agreed too much risk with rex. I liked Billik last time around but has he been out too long? Same with Shanahan. The game has changed a lot…

          2. Author

Sorry, but this is troubling. The man is tough as nails AND he got to the AFC Title game twice, and now some guy (Grier) who’s been on the job literally for an hour is gonna come in and say NO to qualified candidates.
I know a few of you hate him, but why not give Rex an interview.

            1. This probably has more to do with Tannenbaum still in the fold remember they didn’t jive. Grier was probably given a list and rex simply wasn’t on it.

I’m hearing that Jim Harbough is being sought after big time. Ross gave a smokescreen but I think he wants him. I’d be ok with this as he had the 49’ers rolling and it went sideways but he built a solid team that could play D and run the ball. Playoff football he gets it….

              1. Author

That would be a steal. The only Harbaugh distraction would be for the next decade, all we’d hear about is the Sparano-Ross-Harbaugh debacle and how much Ross coveted harbaugh.

                1. I could live with that as Harbaugh knows what it takes and players love him. He has an ego but earned it. Understands situational football and the value of a running game which could help this team win sooner than later. Crossing my ballsack….

              2. I would be ok with trading our 1st round pick to get Harbaugh. I know a lot of folks might not be but I think we know by now that having a great coach is key.

                QB is next.

Could be said that the other way around is the right way but I would rather have Harbough here to give input on the QB decision.

                1. I believe that it’s Jim Harbaugh not John that they are taking a run at so there would be no compensation. Don’t get me wrong John hasn’t signed either and it would be worth it if Jim doesn’t pan out. They are both winners and no how to win playing tough playoff football…

              3. Author

True, plus I take for granted what the experts say. Remember just yesterday the Herald said Gase was safe.

      3. Rizzi would be another audition like Gase was-no thanks.

  5. Cowherd made a good point that noisy teams never contend too emotional and too many distractions. Rex attracts noise and that’s my worry with him. He understands football but if he comes in here and starts yelling super bowl and isn’t focused it probably wouldn’t work. If he’s calmed down he could be effective but I’d take McCarthy any day over him.

    1. Author

Yep, that is a valid point.

      1. Schwartz may also be a good choice if he has a smart OC under him. He’d fix the D too. He’s not a drama queen either. Seattle got noisy and it was quelled now they are a threat again it all makes sense…

  6. Gase just said that he’s going to be patient and build the team the right way older FA’s isn’t working. Harbaugh would be a good guy to help with young talent…

    1. Author

Yeah an older guy like Gore had a horrible season. Gase is such a dick.

  7. After listing the accomplishments of the the buisness side of the Dolphins organization that he was proud of Ross said this…..

“What I am not proud of is what we’ve done on the football field. That’s what I owe to the fans. I take total responsibility myself. We have to take a different approach because what I want is sustained winning seasons and having an organization that is used to winning because that’s what the fans want and fans deserve”

Ok guys I think I’m good with Ross as owner. I don’t think an apology for doubting him is due because he’s bungled enough things for doubt to be warranted BUT he won me over with what he said AND by what he is doing!

    1. Author

Absolutely agree. I could not believe this when I read it earlier.
“I am not proud of is what we’ve done on the football field”
I’m grateful today. A sentimental and honest self-appraisal.

      1. Also I don’t BUY that they are not interviewing Ryan. Of course they are they just don’t want the entire national media to be talking about that and it make other coaches back out.

I’m not a fan of NE DC, he has no experience as a HC. To me it’s Harbough, Schwartz (Who I dont think will come here) or Ryan.

        1. I agree I think that the risk reward on a hot shot offensive genius is too high for this team now they need a solid HC. If anything take a chance on a OC at least you can pull the reigns on him or let him go without too much trouble. I’d also like an experienced DC unless the HC has D in his background.

  8. Also I read that Tannubum has been reassigned to Non-Football operations and that Tannubum will have nothing to do with the football side of things. Translation = “You screwed my team up and you owe me! Start by taking out the trash for a month!

    1. I bet Tannubum screwed up the draft picks that went sour as Ross is giving Grier a lot of control for a reason. Probably all of the ones that hit were Griers choices…

      1. Yes and remember Ross knows who Gier wanted to pick but was overruled by Tannenbaum and Gase. Ross is probably seeing those over ruled picks light it up for other teams.

  9. I hope Gase gets signed by a team we play next year! It will be a sure win!

  10. Miami is bringing in the bears defensive coordinator for an interview. This is awesome! This is the guy who ran the defenses in San Francisco when Harbaugh was there and he has turned the bears from one of the worst defensives in the league in 2015 to the best this year, and last year they were top 5 without Mack. This man knows how to coach a great defense. Please hire him

    1. Or they could bring Burke back as HC!

      .

      Just kidding……

    2. Author

No, No, No. No more coordinators who wish to try and take the next leap up to a head coaching job. Ross has done this twice already, and you see the results. Let other teams give experimental promotions to coordinators. This time, we need a tough head coach who knows how to head coach, not someone who has to learn.
Besides, Adam Gase ran the 31st ranked offense in the NFL…and that shitty offense defeated Fangio’s alleged tough defense. No thank you please.

      1. Yeah I have to agree the Fins just had the newbie and failed they need someone solid. Someone who can call a QB sneak or at least have the option to hand off with the QB under center or pass if the D gives it. Gase would show his hand by operating out of shotgun and bombing it every time. No one was fooled except the fool himself…

      2. Other idiot teams will offer him a chance to screw them too!

        1. Author

Yes, several articles out there about Gase lining up his interviews, LOL
Gase and his protege/buddy/charity case Vance Joseph both fired the same day. Now that’s a coaching tree for ya !

  11. Vic Fangio is his name I think

    1. I prefer Juan Manual Fangio- he is more accomplished.

  12. I understand the hate towards a first time coach. But Gase was the youngest coach ever and Philbin was a guy that never even called plays for the pack. Fangio is 60 and has been one of the most successful defensive coordinators in the league today. If not Fangio cause I do understand the skepticism, than I would give Dan Campbell an interview he has been with the saints since leaving Miami and has been pretty successful. I wouldn’t mind trading for Haurbuagh but I don’t think the ravens will give him up. If Miami hires someone with head coaching experience it needs to be someone still coaching in the NFL today. Not someone that hasnt coached in years, the raiders tried that with Gruden and it’s been a disaster.

  13. IMO it also has to be a defensive minded coach

    1. Defence wins championships and travel well. You still need offence but a good OC can solve that.

  14. This a glorious day. Armando at the Herald is crying. He’s whining about the thought of his lover Gase being gone and we might take years to get better.
We already are better. With one signature, Ross made us better this morning

    1. No shit. I don’t understand why others can’t see it although I did read a bunch of tweets saying that his play calling got him turfed. As well as unwise personnel decisions. I wonder how long Fales will use up a roster spot…

  15. Ross did exactly what I asked. Fire Gase AND start over!!!! And no more Tranny!! TannunBUM is where he belongs-passing out Gatorade! I’m in South Carolina tonight celebrating and I’ll be in Maryland tomorrow doing the same-all the while proudly wearing my new Dolphins cap at every stop along the way!!!!!!!

    1. Author

I don’t dislike Tannenbaum as much as you guys, but I am glad Ross shook things up and demoted him. The main component that needed to be replaced was Gase, and step one began today. Thank you Mr Ross

      1. Tannenbaum complicated the decision making process. I’m sure that he will still be consulted from time to time but it won’t be as convoluted. Ross said that it would also clean up who is doing a good or bad job. Most football people said that this was a problem in Miami…

  16. Author

I prefer a former head coach who was fired…Rex or McCarthy, for example. NOT someone who quit on their own and then missed the game like Gruden. We want passion and the desire to prove the previous team wrong.
McCarthy and my boy Billick would fit that category.
In addition, I want the head coach to hire the normal 2 coordinators and let them do their jobs. No more Head Coach calling plays on either side of the ball. Trust your OC and DC. McCarthy won’t like that provision, but that’s how it must be in DolphinTruth’s book

    1. If the HC is good at play calling I have no problem with it but I’m OK either way…

  17. Author

ANOTHER Herald story todat praising Gase. Armando and his boys simply won’t give up on this!. I’m truly LMAO.

Their article begins, “The Miami Dolphins just fired a good football coach.”

They did? What’s his name? To be good, don’t you (at least) need a winning record?

    1. I really am starting to think that Gase and Armando talked a lot! I think Armando’s inability to be honest in his assessment of Gase and his constant defending of him and his idiot moves over the last three years and now continuing to defend him is highlighting why reporters and team personnel should stay at arms length.

Armando will probably use his HOF Ballot to vote Gase in!

      1. The love makes no sense. It takes a lot for Ross to fire anyone so he had more than enough reasons probably some that only he knows… his play calling alone was enough in my books.

  18. As far as Gase gone …good riddance…I also think the Dolphins don’t need to look far for a coach cause I think he is in the building …yup I said it ..Rizzi,that guy has a fire in his belly and isn’t afraid to get in players face when they screw up [like Cohwer]..Rizzi has his special team in the top5 in the nfl …get him some good OC and DC and I think he will do fine …mind you that’s my opinion.

    1. Well Larry he IS interviewing for the job so we will see. There are a few really qualified guys I would like to see get the job but I don’t dislike Rossi. The thing is guys like Swartz and Ryan can pull good coaches who know them and have worked for them from other teams. The fact they have a ligit shoot at making it here will pull good Cordinator here.

The same old Dolphins with Rizzi at coach won’t bring good coachs and Cordinators.

  19. One complaint voiced by players about Gase is that he didn’t necessarily stick with what was working in games. One player said the team would be running the ball successfully, and Gase inexplicably then started throwing it.

One sentiment we heard: Gase wanted to fool the other team but sometimes ended up outsmarting himself. That frustrated some players.

    This is sooo funny.

    1. Author

Yep, I’ve been saying that for 3 years, and it’s not surprising that the players agree with me.

I encourage you all to watch Ross’s press conference. The guy seems contrite and says all the right things. I was very impressed.
He never once mentioned Soccer, Celebrity owners, new stadium Jumbotron Screen, Bullying, etc. Typically, he mentions all sorts of stuff about all the “gifts” he’s given us fans. But this time, He talked about the Miami Dolphins. He was focused on the Dolphins for truly the first time in a decade.
And…he starts off by saying how WRONG all the media was, and he looked right at Armando, LOL
