The more and more uninformed announcers and reporters sing the praises of DeVante Parker, the more I have to point out his lack of effort when fighting for a ball and his overall poor mechanics.

I’ve already mentioned the lazy way he WAITED for a pass to gently float down to him in the Ravens game, which of course made it easy pickings for a defender to intercept the ball.

The week before vs. the Niners, Parker TWICE set his hand down out of bounds while landing.   The “catches” looked nice at full speed and even fooled the refs.  But upon further review, both “catches” were easily overturned. If only Parker would have raised–not lowered–his hand on the way down.

The week before, Parker mis-timed his jump horribly in Los Angeles, and the Ram defender had the ball in his arms while Parker was still in mid-air.  A horrible effort from Mr. Parker.

And then there is this gem from the Titans game.   Watch the way that Parker fiercely fights for the ball.   Or at the very least, knocks it away from the defender.  Uhhhhh, nope.  He gets the ball right in the sweet zone and then seems to be shocked that an opponent is allowed to take it away.  He doesn’t quite hand the ball to the Titan, but he sure as heck makes little effort to fight for it.

Before you even click on the video, look at the still screen capture.   The ball is right in his chest AND he has both hands on it.

His problems continue to be mechanics and lack of effort.  And it doesn’t seem to be getting any better each week.

In other Dolphins news, Rashaan Salaam has passed away. He was a former Heismann winner who became a Dolphin on paper only, but never played for us. The Dolphins traded for him with the Bears, and then Miami opted to nullify the trade mysteriously. (It was either a bad ankle that the Bears initially hid from us or else Salaam’s drug use came to light). Either way, he was a Dolphin briefly. RIP.

  2. The pass was clearly behind Parker. Bad throw resulting in INT.

Jay, you are as predictable as an Andrew Franks field goal attempt: consistently off target!

      1. It was thrown behind Parker. He was running one way and had to turn around to TRY and catch it. If he was led in front it would’ve been a nice gain!! Look again. Amazing you don’t see it!!

I see an imperfect pass, you’re right. But I also see a professional receiver with the ball in his chest and two hands on the ball. He has to grab that thing and treat it like a kidnapper is trying to steal his baby. Fight for that ball with all your might.

  3. By , NFL standards, that pass was good. If thrown better, that would be considered a spectacular throw. All moot when the coaching keeps setting up 3rd and long and that D-fense cant cover anyone.
