On a day when kicker Jason Sanders outscored both offenses combined with 7 of his own points (one more than Jerome Baker). Adam Gase talked about complementary football.
If you ever needed proof to believe my assertion about Unqualified Adam, don’t listen to me. Listen to Gase. He said the offense complemented the defense. His words.
So when the defense forced multiple three-and-outs, the offense did nothing. That’s complimentary to Adam Gase.
When the defense scored us 7 points on a gorgeous pick-6 from a rookie, the offense returned the favor by going three-and-out the rest of the game. Complementary football means both units feed off of each other, and there was none of that.
Four interceptions yielded two field goals. And Gase praised his offense.
All year long.
Other Gase highlights today:
His decisions were (rightfully) critiqued by yet another hall of famer, James Lofton. So next time Gase wants to ask who is criticizing him and what are their qualifications, we can now say Lofton, Tony Dungy, Cris Carter, Troy Aikman, and others. All Hall of Famers. They are qualified to question Gase’s numerous weekly mistakes.
Gase has lost all control of the locker room, with Reshad Jones apparently refusing to play. That part is not Gase’s fault. But Gase not knowing about it until after the game? And not knowing why? That is a failed leader. They say Caesar knew the names of every single man in his army. They loved him. 12,000 men at a time would go out and die for this guy. Adam Gase can’t get 11 to even attempt to play.
The most jarring image of the day came when CBS cameras caught Gase looking at his play sheet. All alone. No one near him. Not watching the game. Not looking at the field to find a Jet weakness. Not engaging. Just sitting there pouting with his game sheet. On the bench where he belongs.
The good news: We went for it on 4th down and actually ran the ball! Can you believe it?
The bad news: We had numerous other third downs that failed, because Gase kept calling pass plays as usual. Our run game was not particularly fluid today, so that will be Gase’s excuse tomorrow when Stephen Ross demands to know how come he called so many passes on third and inches. Yeah, right!!!
Questions coming up for the next 24 hours. Did Laremy Tunsil blow out his ACL, and WTF happened to Reshad Jones?

NE already has one sneak on 3rd and 1 within 4 minutes of tonights game. Ancient Brady got it no problem… Gase at least ran a few times on short yardage but one time had the RB 7 yards back and ran off tackle. This gave the D time to get over there for a loss on the play. If I were Jones I wouldn’t want to go out there after watching that shit either. He’ll probably be cut Monday…
It’s like every good player that has played for Miami under Gase (Ajayi, Landry, Suh, Pouncey, and now it seems Jones) have had problems with Gase. This guy isn’t Bill Belicheck you don’t choose a head coach over this many good players. People took for granted that Landry never missed many games in his time in Miami, then they replace him with Wilson and he is out for the year. People also took Suh being out there every play for granted. Now almost every DT is hurt. There are a reason these players are well known and a big part of that is their availability.
Admin you’re not qualified enough to write this blog and I’m not qualified enough to comment on it.Neither one of us are adam gase(……although I did stay at a Holiday inn last night)
At home, the we beat the Jets despite gaining just 168 yards on offense, managing just seven first downs, converting 3 of 16 third downs and having one play of more than 20 yards. At home, against the pitiful Jets.
I think that it’s time for Gase to hand over the play calling. Probably hard for him but it’s not like it’s a mandatory thing. A lot of coaches allow their OC to call plays. He didn’t even realize that there was a problem with Jones tells me he has too much on his plate. He can still talk to his OC during the game offer suggestions but keep focus on the entire team. He fully admitted that the opposing coaches were all over his calls!
As per Jones I understand why he’d feel slighted but you still can’t do what he did if the reports are true. You never sit on your team. Protest during the week not during the game. Unless I’m missing something?
Re: Jones,we’ll find out today. Gase doesn’t have too much on his plate-when he does nothing else than stare at his play list. He does 1 thing and he does it poorly-he needs to be gone after this season. He’s been in over his head since the day he was given an audition for HC and we have suffered for it since. He has no business being a HC.
Gase will call it an internal team matter and not discuss it. We’ll have to rely on rumor and innuendo, just like went Lawrence Timmons went AWOL.
Most coaches employ full-time play callers. Gase is far to stubborn to admit he needs one, let alone make it happen.
Wow…… did I watch the same game as all the local and national reporters because I keep hearing how dominant our defense was, how our defense and especially our defensive Cordinator re-scheamed everything and how the defense is back on track!
What Brian the idiot saw – Our defense was gifted the Jets on a week they needed an absolute must win. The jets, by way of their obviously broken rookie qb gifted the Miami defense four turnovers. On top of that the jets offense only put six points of pressure on the dolphins.
So everyone in the world thinks the 5-4 Miami dolphins are playoff bound, I think they suck. Who is closer to right?
To me there is absolutely NOTHING to be celebrating especially since we won’t be getting a bottom barrel team who’s qb is going to quite on us this week. Our defense and our whole team is about to be humiliated again so please excuse me if I don’t join in the downtown parade!
My take: You’re both right. Our D beat a doormat team with a rookie QB who gifted us 4 interceptions, including one that we scored on. It shoulda been 5, but Torrey McTyer dropped one right in his arms. Our Offense was nonexistent on the day. We only had 7 first downs. 7 first downs is the lowest-ever for a winning team in NFL history. A horrendous win, if there is such a thing.
All that being said, Brian, it’s still okay to enjoy a win. We played like shit and still won. Imagine how enraged we’d all be if we lost. It’s a nice feeling to get a win, no matter when and no matter who against. Sweeping any team is tough, and we did it. At least we have some semblance of positive energy to take in Green Bay.
By the way, we now have a better record than the Packers, so that means we will win in Lambeau, right?
(kidding about the sure-thing win, but we truly do have a better record than the Pack. Green Bay lost two games in a row because of fumbles late in the game. I doubt they’ll make it three.)
Green Bay is overrated they are one lucky 4th quarter comeback against the bears away from being 2-5-1. But as much as we all can’t stand Tanny, he is better than whatever the hell Brock was doing on Sunday. If Miami starts Brock again be prepared for a 35-3 type of game, it’s time to go to Fales. And Admin as cool as it is to beat the jets the way Miami played yesterday a lose would of been better. What if Miami plays just as bad against the garbage colts and bills twice and finishes 8-8? That most likely means Gase keeps his job and we get to watch this all over again next year (with a much tougher schedule). 6-10 or 5-11 and he is gone IMO. Isn’t that better for the team?
