Barry Jackson reported today that the Dolphins asked for–and were denied–a request to move their London game back to Miami.

While I think the main issue is the NFL having a blatant disrespect for the Miami Dolphins and our fans, I think another problem is the way the Dolphins “asked” for this change.   There comes a time in life when things must be demanded.  Taken public.  Getting some force behind you instead of politely asking.

Stephen Ross should have demanded that the Europe game be moved back to Miami, just like he should have demanded that the Bucs game be played last Thursday or Friday.   When the league said no to both, then Ross needed to put his foot down.  Getting on social media, for example to get the people behind him.  So we only get 7 home games to begin with, and one of our home games was disrupted to the point that we now can’t even practice at home for two weeks.  And then from there, we have to leave for Europe.

The NFL thinks that is fair.  Stephen Ross whispered a private objection.  Is that how winners like Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft would handle things?

The hurricane hit hard.  It hurts.   But it struck Sunday.   There was no reason the NFL couldn’t schedule the game for last Thursday.   Give us one last thing to be excited about before going home to begin storm preparations.

Since the game was cancelled, the Dolphins spent Sunday in their hotel in California.    And if the game were played last Thursday night, the Dolphins would have spent Sunday in their hotel in California.  Either way, the team was going to California, so there was absolutely nothing to be gained from canceling this game.

Onto the Week 1 games.  Here are some random thoughts.

Many “experts” are picking the Titans to be a much stronger team this year, but they showed nothing yesterday.   Luckily for the Titans, they play in the easiest division in sports history.  They might finish 5-11 and make the playoffs.

The Failcons barely beat an awful Bears team, and only because two different bears dropped easy TDs at the end of the game.   As I’ve predicted, the Failcons will never recover from that Super Bowl loss.   And scraping by a crappy team tells you a lot.

The Browns will always be the Browns.

The 49ers were another team who were supposed to be vastly improved.  They hired a tv announcer to be their new GM.   And then he went out and hired Brian Hoyer to be his starting QB.   LOL!    And to make matters worse, he hired Kyle Shanahan to be his head coach.  You remember Kyle, right?  The man who handed a free victory to his opponent last time.

Seems like the Cowboys never play on the road, doesn’t it?  And why do they always get to start the season on Sunday Night…and always against the Giants?

The Colts are dead meat without Andrew Luck.

It’s a crying shame that the Patriots had some injuries the other night.   Makes you feel real bad for them, eh?

  1. Yep Fins were screwed. I get that they couldn’t play in Miami due to various concerns but there is absolutely no reason why they couldn’t play somewhere nearby. They were flying out west anyway with their families so what was the exact issue? It wasn’t like the players were preparing Ross wanted them out of Dodge!

As per London the least that the league could do was give this team a break. Patsies no doubt would have not only been given the home game back but the license to cheat even more to make up for the inconvenience. Probably open up the helmet radio or something to help…fackkk!

After watching the games it feels like there’s a playoff spot to be had. A lot of teams looked bad as you mentioned. KC and the raiders look good as expected but who else? Steelers didn’t blow the doors and ravens played what looked to be a horrible Bengals teams. Texans atrocious! Titans blah. Denver and chargers much of the same. AFC looks open at least for a wildcard but possibly more if NE fade you never know.

Good points. I fully agree about a playoff spot being readily available. But it’s still tough. Gotta figure New England, Oakland, Houston, and Pittsburgh all win their divisions. Then we are in the identical boat as last year. We’re competing for two spots with KC, Denver, Baltimore, Cincy, and possibly Houston. Denver is probably in decline with no offense. Houston doesn’t scare me too much. But I think Baltimore (who wasn’t in the playoff hunt last year) is much improved, and the Chiefs are still strong. We have a lot to overcome to catch them…

      1. Can’t disagree but in reality either KC or Oakland will get a WC. But I like the odds of Fins over ravens, titans, possibly broncos. Cincy sucks which may help the ravens but the ravens have no offence they have to rely solely on D. Titans may be the spoiler simply due to a horrible division. Just as long as the Fins can play some decent D, run the ball and avoid any further major injuries they can be in it. Although the schedule sucks they’ll have an even better chance next year. Who knows patsies may fall apart this year too you never know…

I watched the Chargers game, and a few things come to mind.
    1. Rex Ryan was diagnosing plays so quickly. It’s not too late to hire him to run our defense, instead of promoting the guy who managed the worst linebackers in the NFL last year.
    2. That chick announcer was annoying.
    3. Philip Rivers is the same as always. Our hands will be full come Sunday.
    4. Tampa has officially announced that they will play at home, as scheduled, this Sunday. That means the Dolphins are the only team who got screwed by the hurricane, even though Tampa got hit much harder than Miami. Another sarcastic thanks to Roger Goodell for moving our game to last Thursday.

    1. Apparently Romo was calling the plays before they ran them on his broadcast as well. Doesn’t make them a good coach but it sure as hell would be worth it to sit in the stands and make them an advisor. They wouldn’t even have to film the plays like the patsies do.

I honestly thought that it was a guy until I saw her then she reminded me of a chick who smoked 4 packs a day maybe one of the Simpson sisters!

Rivers looked ok but the team always blows it. They don’t play 60 minutes either.

Yep thanks NFL…..but if they can beat the chargers on Sunday that would be a nice start. At least the saints looked horrible but we need them to find their groove at home against the patsies hopefully jekyll and hyde at home.

  3. I’d love to play the London game here but let’s be real, you don’t cancel a game that has sold 50k tickets.

Our game on September 10 had 70,000 sold tickets and they canceled that one !
