Maybe he read all the stats about how accurate he was and decided it was a given. So Tua tried his hardest to not try. He threw horribly all day long. He gave the Jets points. He underthrew a wide open Albert Wilson early. But before we even got there, he fumbled on the first series of the game, then threw a pick on the second. Disgusting performance.
Maybe Brian Flores thought that giving players 5 days off in the middle of a (at least on paper) playoff run was a good idea. Flores, evidently, certainly thought that running a fake field goal from midfield WITH THE LEAD was a good idea. When you need one yard, why have Duke Johnson run the ball when Clayton Fejedelem is a better running back. THAT is the logic that Brian Flores used. You want to make a mistake and go for it on fourth down? Fine. At least getting your starting 11 on the field and try it. Don’t utilize benchwarmer Fejedelum on a play that the Jets had sniffed out from the start.
On a day when the running offense FINALLY showed up, we passed way too often. And this coincided with a terrible game from Tua.
Needless to say, this was the luckiest Dolphins win in recent memory. But, as they say, we’ll take it!

Glad to get the win because any win with this front office and coaching staff is a blessing. That said, whoever put in the play where Tua’s pick-6 happened needs to go IMMEDIATELY. How stupid can you be? Short out patterns are run by speedy receivers BECAUSE the corner has to respect their speed and ability to take it upfield. That’s why you usually get a cushion out there. The faster the WR, usually the bigger the cushion. You NEVER see a short out pattern with a slow lumbering TE at the FAR HASH for exactly this reason. A speedy corner will just sit on that route all day and just jump it IF he doesn’t have to worry about the vertical speed of the receiver. And that exactly what happened! Tua should NEVER have even thrown it and the INT is on him…but whoever put that brain dead garbage in the playbook had to be smoking something. It was easily the dumbest offensive call of the day and almost cost us the game.
And on that pick 6, draft bust Hunter Long just sat there like a statue, making zero effort to go toward the ball
My biggest take is that this team was unprepared, period. Can’t give guys days off if it compromises their performance. This would have been a loss to every team in the hunt for the playoffs. It also allowed me to appreciate Waddle even more. Only he and Gisecki can get separation.
Guys, Guys, guys, stop the bitching…the win was not due to luck. yes it was an off day (somewhat expected because of the bye week) and yes Flores 4th and 1 play was a bone head call, but we still won. our offense scored 31 points! And even though Tua did not have a good game game, we won. To me that is a great sign. After that pick six, Tua led the offense down the field and responded with a TD throw. This is the type of experience that Tua needs to be exposed to, make a mistake, then respond affirmatively. And I liked very much what I saw out of Duke J. And the defense pitched a shut out in the 2nd half. Keep it rolling, Phins!
Well for sure we have improved. We are now able to overcome mistakes that previous cost us games. Two INTs and a fumble from Tua, and we still win? During the losing streak we would have lost this game for sure.
Right and the jets our better than the jaguars. They beat the Titans when they were hot with derrick Henry and the Bengals when they were hot. I am actually impressed they pulled it out. This had all the makings of a trap game loss. Coming off a bye week rusty, and the jets desperate to avenge there loss not get swept. I’m proud they rallied from ten down because of rust probably and pulled it off. Look at the lions and Cardinals yesterday.
Forgot to add no waddle either that is tuas bread and butter and Holland out. Another reason I was afraid of this game.
I dont think this is bitching as we are just pointing out the same problems that cost us, what, 3-4 loses earlier in the season. Give us 2 of those 4 loses and we are in a playoff spot with some wiggle room.
I think Tua got a little too reliant on Waddle, and so it took him a while to get going yesterday without his #1 guy. We remember the two picks. But don’t forget the 3 other near-picks. He could have had a 5-INT game if the Jets’ CBs had any hands at all.
Once he settled down and utilized Parker and Gesicki a bit, he seemed better.
And a respectable running game from Duke!
that’s a good point, i did not think of that. His absence probably figured in that pick-six too (that would have been a route normally run by waddle)
I am happy that Saints beat Brady and the Bucs. Human nature says the Saints will subsequently be over-confident for their next game against the Phins, so we should take advantage of that. Could be very low scoring affair, Jason Sanders better be on his best game!
