There are 7 teams ahead of us in ESPN’s latest power polls. 2 of them are undefeated, so I have no problem there. But 5 of them have a worse record than us. That makes me scratch my head.
But I see their point. Never mind the win-loss records, you have to say that Pittsburgh and New England are probably stronger teams than us…but only going by their history. This will all work itself out as the season progresses. Our offense needs to start getting into the 30-point range and not settle for the 20s, where we always have to nervously await an onside kick.
So I won’t argue with ESPN placing us at 8. We’re probably not there yet. Beat New England, and we’re sure to leapfrog them. Lose to New England, and they’ll rank us 25th and say “Told you so. The 3-0 record was a fluke.”

#8 is laughable at best. We have beat 3 crap teams, period. And after the Pats this week,we have 5 winnable games against more crap teams. If we laughably are 8-1 after that stretch, will we be #1? Remember a few season ago when we won 10 games beating crap teams and at the end of the season had to play legitimate GOOD teams and were absolutely crushed? Our 3-0 would be as hollow as our 8-1 would be. We aren’t that good you saw how we suffered with Minky at safety and now Hayes and Branch are gone but don’t worry,Ms. Parker is back to save us. Can you imagine the Pats going to 1-3 when they lose? This is an early-season must win for them on Sunday. This season has been bizarre with crazy upsets so far. Includng the Jills beating the Vikings, ect. The awful Lions beating the Pats.
Karma, I’d normally agree with you 100%, but here it’s only 50%. The main reason is that Gase is using the proper tools more and more each week on offense.
Look, we trailed by 10 and the game was on the line. Gase started calling plays for Grant and Wilson. They were successful, and he stuck with it. In 3 years, this is the first time I remember Gase sticking to something that works. He didn’t try to force the ball to Miss Parker. He didn’t try to develop Mike Gisecki mid-game. Instead, he used his most dynamic players. I think Gase is finally over the hump. As dense as he is, even Adam Gase must recognize that Wilson and Grant are matchup nightmares. he finally gets it!
(That being said, I bet our first series this Sunday is 1. Bubble screen for 3 yards. 2. Handoff for 2 yards. 3. Third and 5, we run a 3-yard crossing pattern and getting tackled. ) 4th and 2 we punt
I agree completely. This will be the 1st accurate gauge for us. And like I said, imagine what Bellychump is telling his players about possibly going to 1-3.
Bengals are a decent team, they’ll be 3-1 (beat the Ravens) the bears have the best defense in the NFL and Khalil Mack is on fire this year. Green Bay in Green Bay? Aaron Rodgers almost never loses at home. If Miami is 8-1 that would be insane
I hope you are wrong but I have a feeling that there is a lot of Truth to what you have said. I still don’t see a lock down defense yet. When teams must move the ball urgently, they are able. Miami still gives up way too many 3rd and long plays. THis needs to end if they want to be among the leagues’ best. It also takes Gase too long to call plays that work. I think these problems can be overcome but they need to be before they play elite teams.
Losing 2 DL this week is a huge loss for us. It will be worse that what you describe for the next few weeks.
Do they bring Langford back? How bad is Branch?
The Lions doubled Gronk all night long, and did you see the result? Let’s hope Gase saw the same result and practices that all week.
Totally agree definitely Doug Gronk. Also cover white and you shut them down. Put X on 7-11. They have F all else unless the degenerate doper plays…if so I put X on him.
On a positive note BOTH Fitzpatrick and Baker had really strong games. Did they both have some blown coverages and missed assignments….. YES. However they both had plenty of great plays too. Probably the best was that after that first quarter and a half they LEARNED from their mistakes and corrected that.
That shows that the young players are football smart and that the coaches are actually doing their damn job finally. Very encouraging and unlike anything we have seen for a long time.
Huston came here and with all the delays that’s not an easy win and we won.
I expect Miami’s pass rush to get to Brady this week. We all know what happens then! I think that this is a different team. As bad as the Jets are they are no joke, no matter their personnel or standing when they play at home. That is never an easy win and we won!
Then the Raiders came here and had a great game plan to keep the offense off the field and wear out our defense and not only did they wear the defense out they sent half of the Dline home by halftime and they were up by two scores.
When the hell do we ever win a game like that?
I keep hearing that these are BAD BAD teams. I call BS on that. Those are hard games to go out and win. This is the NFL not Pop Warner any team (Other than Cleveland) can win on any gameday and usually its the team with more talent, better coaching and more desire and through three games that team has been the Dolphins.
By the way having one of the top 5 QBs who has won 9 of his last 10 games doesn’t hurt.
Having X locking down one of the patriots three receivers doesn’t hurt
Having Jones back this week doesn’t hurt.
Having Baker who can run and cover slot receivers and TE doesn’t hurt
I think we have a pretty decent chance this week.
A win in New England will signify a changing of the guard and no better way to voice that than to rip away the win, in New England and take a 3 game lead in the division on the AFC Champs!
Go Fins!
Titans are 2-1 and beat Jax who beat NE. Jets are tougher at home beat Lions who killed the patsies. Oakland played desperate ball, got some fortuitous calls and maybe not a great team they aren’t horrible. Any given Sunday they should have beaten the Fins but they didn’t. Fins didn’t give up.
Will the Fins have to be better next week absolutely. Patsies will be desperate but you just feel that the Fins aren’t close to potential yet. They can do much more if they didn’t fuck around for much of the game. The patsies look old slow missing some of their better players they seem ripe. Of course anything can happen but if the Fins can not shit the bed in the first half and actually play decent watch out…
