It seems like a looooonger off season than usual, but it’s finally upon us.

And right off the bat, we draw a road game against the Patriots.  I’m particularly worried baout their defense, as they have several returning Pro Bowlers, plus they added Kyle Van Noy and Davon Godchaux.  Thos 2 men will clearly be pumped up and ready to face us.

New QB Mac Jones is probably our best hope of winning.  We have to hope for a lot of rookie mistakes, althought Bill Belichick is usually outstanding at prepping younger players.  A few years ago, Tom Brady was hurt, so second-string Jimmy Garropolo got the start.   But then we injured Jimmy early in the game, and in came unknown Jacoby Brissett (now a Dolphin).  I remember thinking that we would win the game, because a third stringer can’t hurt us, right?  Wrong.   That kid was so prepared and so tough.  He beat us.  I think he’s a great QB, but I have to credit his coaches for preparing him.  I expect no less from Mac Jones.

The interesting side story will be Jones and Tua both coming from Alabama.   Some say Tua is the THIRD-best QB from that college in the last 3 years behind Jones and Jalen Hurts.  I think Jones will have a lot to prove and perhaps try TOO hard, leading to mistakes.  Tua will be more sedate, knowing he has playmakers on both side of the ball to rely on.

It will be great to have live football again.  I will have a game day chat for anyone interested, and look forward to gabbing with our regulars and perhaps a few new faces as well!

  1. AMEN! Can’t wait for Sunday! I hope our defense has a field day against Jones! Two tough division games to start the season!

  2. My game-1 jitters…..

I too am worried about Pat defense. They will try to get into Tua’s head and force him to revert back to 2020 Tua who was more inclined to spin away from pocket, then step into it.

I am also not so confident Mac Jones will have a bad game.

Our Defense will need to step up, get into Mac Jones head and keep us in the game!

  3. After watching the Dallas – Tampa Bay game where the ball never touched the ground and the two teams scored a combined 6,789 points I’m afraid of watching the Dolphins get the ball first, run to the left twice for no gain, than on 3rd and 10 throw a draw to the right that gets blown up and we go three and out. Than we repeat that a few more times while Mac Jones gets his feet under him and then once Jones starts pitching for touchdowns we move the ball a little and start kicking field goals! I know this may not sound encouraging but its been our reality for way to long to ignore it.

    1. LOL. Yeah the offenses were pretty efficient weren’t they?
And when Brady got the ball back with a minute left and Dallas went into prevent defense, was there any doubt?

Yes, this is a likely scenario. Two run plays and a screen pass or draw. Way too much

  4. I’m hoping for 300 yards and 4 td’s from Tua.

  5. Did anyone notice Mac spelled backwards is Cam? I have this sinking feeling Patriots hit the bulls eye with Mac Jones pick…just a feeling. And I also have had a feeling that Phins missed the dart board completely with the Tua pick. Just visceral feelings. And of course, i hope my gut feelings are wrong. Gosh i hope i am wrong….
