Who do you guys want?

So a lot of names are flying around out there, including Darren Rizzi.

From the heart, he’s not a bad pick.   As long as he proves to management and to the players that he knows his stuff.  He does seem a lot smarter than a guy who just works with punters and kickers.  The rah-rah attitude can be tiresome, but I will not fault him for getting in players’ faces.   Miami needs a disciplinarian head coach, and not another buddy ol’ pal like Gase.

The Bears’ DC is getting a lot of attention, but I’m not feeling it.  He’s been a DC in a LOT of other cities, and he’s never been good enough to be retained.  John Gruden handed him Khalil Mack this year, and that would make anyone look good!

Rex Ryan and Mike McCarthy are still my hopes, but the other coach-less teams want them too.  We’ll see.

Oh, and Adam Gase is heading to Phoenix to interview for the Cardinal job.   LOL, poor Larry Fitzgerald.

  1. Everyone here knows who I want!

Ryan and his onterage of good coaches and cordinators

McCarthy and his onterage of good coaches

Bilick and his onterage of good coaches and cordinators

No one else those are enough coaches to go and get one!

    1. Definitely no coordinator of God forbid a college coach!

Yes, you have a point about the coordinators. I would trust Rex to hire a DC who knows his stuff, and same for McCarthy.
Mike Munchak is not a glamorous choice, but he’s a hall of famer with some head coaching experience, and that’s an important trait in my book. He had a losing record as the Titan HC, but he also had garbage teams to work with.

  2. I don’t want someone that hasn’t coached in years, that puts them way to far behind the curve in game planning compared to someone who was actively creating gameplans in 2017. Football is a business and like all business it evolves over time, just because someone was good ten years ago doesn’t mean they will be today. Also not sure if they have the same pull with good coordinators that someone actively coaching would. If Miami hires a coordinator it needs to be someone with a long track record of success with multiple teams. In other words the opposite of Gase and Philbin guys who only had success with HOF QBs.

  3. 2018* lol. Rex I don’t like but he hasn’t been out of the game to long so I could live with that. The more I read about the search the more I would like to see Dan Campbell get another shot. He showed promise in a really tough position in 2015 and the players played hard for him.

Not opposed to Dan Campbell. They played hard for him for a week or two, and the Ross fell in love with Gase, so bye bye Dan

  4. Rizzi is a no-go. He does 2 things well, scream and special teams. I can’t think of anyone in the NFL who has gone from special teams to HC- we don’t need another 3 year audition. I’m in DC area today and I pulled my cap lower than Gase does just for laughes. McCarthy is my choice-no way Rex and his ego and entourage.BTW yesterday I posted that Ross followed my wishes of no Gase or Tranny and TannunBUM is now mobile Gatorade squirted during games (posted as anonymous yesterday).

Karma, a fellow by the name of John Harbaugh went directly from Special Teams to HEAD coach. Other than him, I don’t know anyone else.
Plus, Rizzi was a head coach before at some Ivy League d-2 schools. I would not make him my top choice, but I admit it would be intriguing.

P.S., I figured you were “Anonymous” from the context of your posts!

  5. That’s a no on Campbell too.

  6. We need someone that has proven success in building stability on, at least, one side of the ball. Obviously we want stability on both sides but at least when you do something well then it’s not too hard to build a winner. Miami has had, what, five coaches in a row that suck at everything. I think with Rizzi we are still hoping he knows wha he’s doing. Campbell still has only proven that players play hard for him. I want either Rex, McCarthy, or someone like Schwartz. They all have built elite defenses. No more 200 yards rushing per game

I’d love for Grier to make some personnel decisions, asap. Would love to see who he likes and doesn’t like. Ross seems concerned with signing older players. But I don’t care if Frank Gore is 35 or 40…the guy had 900+ yards this year on a pass-obsessed team. That is absolutely remarkable production.

    1. Yes agreed but I believe he meant cap crippling deals on older vets. He’d rather spend money on young players that can grow together. Gore did play well but stunted the growth of Drake and Ballage..

I’m leery of the concept of stunting someone’s growth.
If the top dog is performing, then there is no need to use anyone else.
How many Patriot backup QBs has Tom Brady stunted? Too many to name, and yet they all have rings.
If Gore is shredding through defenses, then I have no problem with Drake on the bench.
If the top dog is NOT performing (e.g., Julia Thomas last year), then let a younger guy have some reps.

        1. I hear you but it’s quite possible that the two young guys could have done even better and for numerous years after. Now if it meant making a super bowl this year I’m all for riding Gore but we had no chance of this. If the younger guy was slightly not as good play him although Gase didn’t use them properly anyway…

True. Gase was not good at recognizing talent.
Remember, this is a coach who started the aged Arian Foster over Jay Ajayi, until Foster quit on us mid-season.
Now there is a true case of talent-stunting. it comes from lack of vision of what a youngster can do because Gase was too focused on his elderly friends like Foster and Julia Thomas
