The ignorance and lack of leadership of Brian Flores is utterly astounding.
He is simply unqualified to be a head coach. His frequent, consistent mistakes prove that. I hope and pray that Stephen Ross realizes this.
His absence of strategic football knowledge is mind-blowing. And us fans have to suffer for Flores’s half-wit stupidity.
Let’s start at the end of the game, with Jacksonville about to throw a desperate hail Mary. Flores called a timeout to help them. That gave Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence a chance to think things over. Sadly, this wasn’t Flores’s first incorrect use of a timeout in this game, but more on that later. So Jax opted for a short slant play. Fine. The clock will expire and we go to OT. But Meyer outsmarted Flores.
If the Dolphins defenders did NOT touch the WR, then he keeps sliding. The play is alive and the clock ticks away.
But our guys weren’t coached that way. Flores called a time out but did not warn them to simply let time expire. Instead, they touched the WR down with a second left. Poor poor coaching. Flores was outsmarted. Again.
Now go back to the the ignorant, unqualified Flores’s decision to go for it on 4th down in his own territory. It’s a terrible, incorrect decision. BUT, if you are gonna make the wrong decision, at least give yourself a chance but calling for a rollout…give yourself an option or two…ANYTHING except a handoff up the middle. But Brian Flores isn’t smart enough to think of that.
How about Flores’s (NOT ONE BUT TWO) wasted challenges? Both plays were close, but clearly they were not going to be overturned. Why waste 2 timeouts there? You have to let close plays go. It’s utter desperation to challenge a call. And only losing coaches play desperately.
Flores blew the game much earlier, by taking a defensive time out right before halftime. Flores tried to be cute and get the ball back to his offense with about 40 seconds left to play. He called a timeout, for which Trevor Lawrence said thank you. 2 plays later, the Jags had a touchdown. They were gonna run out the clock or possibly try a long FG, but Flores gave them time to reconsider.
He simply lacks basic knowledge of football strategy. Yes, he did well when he had to call in defensive plays for Bill Belichick, but he never had to make decisions there. Remember, he was never name the defensive coordinator in New England. Officially, he was a defensive assistant, and before that an assistant scout. Now that he does make decisions, he proves his inadequacies with head-scratching stupidity week in and week out. Outsmarted by Urban Meyer. It doesn’t get much lower.
A team loses 20 games in a row and then mocks you? Degrading. Ross MUST make the move. And now.
Losses to 3 previous winless teams (Jags, Bills, and Colts).
Getting Tua killed vs. the Bills on a play that was (you guessed it) going for it on 4th down in our own territory?
Getting rid of Kyle Van Noy and Shaq Lawson? Letting Bobby McCain walk because Jevon Holland and Noah Inactive can get burned week after week?
Flores is killing the Dolphins. He really is. He’s just not qualified, and hopefully the final straw was this morning.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 someone’s got to go!
Ross will not have the balls to do that.
I did like the successful use of our TE’s in the passing attack. And Waddle had a decent game, same with Tua. That interception was his fault, call it rookie mistake
Yes, I have no problem forgiving a bad pass. Tua isn’t the one who ordered us to go for it on 4th down on OUR OWN 45. Inadequate Flores made that call.
I think it’s pretty clear after today to anybody not paying attention that the problem is not Tua, or Waddle, or any other scapegoats that people want to throw under the bus. Flo is way out of his league and it’s just embarrassing at this point. Either he is the most unlucky decision maker in NFL history, or he’s just incompetent. It is the latter. Every crucial decision he has made this year has backfired completely. Kicks when he should go, goes when he should kick, two challenges today that were never going to be overturned (tho we did get screwed on the muffed punt, but it wasn’t obvious enough in the moment to give it to us). Poor timeouts, poor clock management, and so on and so on and so on. Tua looked great today and the offense finally had some juice, so what do they do? Avoid the playcalls that had been successful all day (broken record for Dolphins fans). Defense FINALLY gets some energy and what do they do? Go for it on fourth instead of punting and letting them close out regulation. Today was a perfect collection of all the things wrong with this team, and very few of them are directly player related. Our O-line actually played somewhat decently in pass protection today and Tua (aside from a terrible overthrow that turned into a pick) looked like somebody you can build around. Sorry for all the parentheses and longwindedness, but holy crap what a disappointment. Grier and Flo need to be gone.
No need to apologize. Your long windedness shows you care about the Dolphins. unlike Ross. And you are knowledgeable, unlike Flores.
Total loss for words. I’ve never seen a team degenerate this way. You haven’t been able to consistently get 2 yards running the ball and you run it at the 50. Plus your defense can’t hold anybody. This is worse than Gase and I thought that was impossible. Remember Gase made the playoffs.
I’m going to stand on my pulpit and preach bec I am beyond disgusteed! It starts at the TOP! The facts are starting to seep in that Flores is not ready for prime time NFL coaching. But, who hired him? Who suggested him? Who recommended him? Who looked at his resume to see what his NFL coaching was about? I do! I CARE who made the decision to hire a defensive “coordinator”…not exactly what I was expecting to have a our head coach from the moron owner, but I should have expected he would pull another non-informed football move. Grier needs to empty his desk out and be done with it. Someone else can fill in until the season is over-he has nothing to offer so get out. I put much of the blame on theisowner-other owners have businesses that they have made their billions on but their first love is their NFL team. Ross is in love with his NYC real estate and don’t ever think it’s not. How or why Grier would even think a two offensive coordinator tandem would be a good idea indicates he has no idea what he’s doing and we’ve seen the end results haven’t we? Why can’t this organization hire the right staff?? Why? Because it starts at the top and the top is not interested enough!
We all feel your pain. But Ross will not do a thing about it. Lots of subtle comments out there sprouting up about Ross being proud of having a black GM and head coach. He doesn’t wanna be seen as a racist by firing a couple of black execs. I see no proof that Ross feels that way. But people are question long if Ross felt guilty and made a Rooney rule hire of Flores. The man isn’t qualified and got the job anyway. Why???
Oops, disregard the I do! Was so annoyed while typing this.
Please excuse any typos that are due from utter annoyance!
