I find it rather ominous that the Dolphins chose to sat BOTH Tua and Jacoby Brissett.  Are they saving those guys from injury on order to trade them tomorrow for DeShaun Watson?  That always happens in baseball when a trade is imminent.  Why not give Brissett a few reps?   Could be nothing, but something feels off.

Another ominous sign for me is that Chris Grier and Brian Flores BOTH REFUSE to simply say, “We aren’t going to trade for Watson.   We are keeping Tua and keeping all our draft picks.   We do not want a player with 20 legal allegations against him.”  Why won’t Grier simply end these rumors…or confirm them?  Are these rumors true at all?

The Dolphins were distracted through most of August by the Xavien Howard whining about his contract, and DeShaun Watson is 100 times worse than Howard.  Watson refuses to play for the Texans, because he didn’t like some of the front offife moves.  Yes, Watson wanted to choose his own head coach and control who the Texans drafted.  What a power trip!  That ego is ginormous, and I don’t want him as aa Dolphin.

Just from my unofficial viewing of fan sites and social media, it looks like 3 or 4 fans really want Watson.   They think he is worth 3 future #1 draft picks.  Maybe Grier feels the same way.   Stranger things have happened.   The other 99.9% of fans do NOT want Watson.

I envisions a mass cryout if we do get Watson, led by me.  Stephen Ross has done well over the past few years to stay of of things and let his executives manage.   But this may be a case where Ross needs to step in.  He should prohibit Grier from making this trade….if these rumors are true at all.

  1. Per Barry Jackson: “Flores, citing his policy, declines to answer when asked directly if Dolphins are pursuing a trade for Deshaun Watson. Said in follow up that “I’m very confident in Tua.”

“We will never trade Jason Taylor”
Bill Parcells, a week before he traded Jason Taylor to the Redskins.

  3. I was on the Watson bandwagon early on and not ashamed to admit…. He’s a tremendous QB and when you get a chance at a guy like that in his prime you at least have to explore it. But then the legal problems leaked out… And then the asking price leaked out (which apparently are STILL 3 firsts and 2 seconds even with the legal problems)…. And I’d be the first to cry out against it with you admin. That’s a steep price even in the best of circumstances, but it’s insane with uncertainty of his legal issues.

I think he will beat the legal rap. Sounds like made-up nonsense charges (allegedly). His stats are outstanding. So what am I against the guy?
What I hate about the guy is he whines and holds out. We just went through that with X, and now we want to bring in yet another guy with a proven history of turning his back on his team?? Watson was mad because he wasn’t allowed to dictate who the Texan coach should. Sorry, sir, it doesn’t work that way.
You don’t bail on your team and demand a trade because you don’t like things!

  5. I’m actually upset that they didn’t let Tua play for at least one quarter. We kept hearing about how he never got a preseason last year in his rookie year, then with one less game this year they bench him in the final…so technically he only got half a preseason this year. Tua had a great week last week and we could’ve built off that momentum.

    1. Lol.. did you and ADMIN hear what happened to J K Dobbins in the Baltimore Ravens last preseason game? If Tua or Brisset had received season ending injuries in the last meaningless preseason game, you and ADMIN would’ve been asking for Flores and Grier’s heads on a platter.

I’m all for keeping Tua out of the game. I can’t imagine Joe Burrow going out there for 3 plays will help him. Imagine if he tripped on his own lineman or something and got hurt!

  6. Please do not trade for Whiney Watson! I was also more than okay with the decision to rest Tua and Jacoby. The last game of the pre-season is the highest risk of injury because of all the scrubs trying to make the team, or impress the coaches to make the practice squad. We are also playing the Bellichick Patriots in game-1, so that might be part of strategy to minimize tipping our hat, so to speak. Give Bellichick as little info as possible

Yeah, I was fine with them resting Tua and Brissett…IF it were for the right reason! But if they rested them because they’re about to be shipped, that is such bullshit. I just wrote a new column out of fear. These rumors won’t go away, and in my book, When you refuse to deny a rumor, you are admitting it’s true. I’m scared.

    2. Additionally, I was actually impressed with Reid Sinnett in pre-season game 3. I know it’s against 2nd and 3rd stringers and scrubs, but he looked composed in the pocket and under pressure. 343 yards! He has an arm.
