Call it a mistake.   Call it a lie.  Whatever was said on Sunday and Monday simply wasn’t true:

Tua did NOT merely have some bruised ribs.   They are cracked and broken.  He will not play Sunday.  The forseeable future is in doubt as well.

Yeah, I had seen that article, but unfortunately it’s more of the same. We cannot protect the passer so we must run the ball. Simple…but never that easy. The Raiders will be playing to stop the run, we then we’ll have to pass it. But when we pass it, even when Oakland is in a run defense, we cannot protect.
Looks like Eichenberg is set to start this week, with either Hunt or Kindley on the bench. Meanwhile, Jesse Davis got our QB killed and remains a starter.

      1. But in this case Admin the Fins oline has a large size advantage over the raiders dline. If they want to put out some bigger guys they lose some pass rush and they are still smaller than the Fins oline. Fact is they need to run more to take the pressure off the oline and QB. Basically what NE is doing with their rookie QB and their oline is better than the Fins.

Yeah, our line has a decent size advantage every week, it seems, and yet we see how poorly they play. I remember the best Dolphin linemen like Stephenson and Webb were not huge bruisers, but smart players whose fundamentals were flawless. I’ll be watching our O-line very closely this week. (unfortunately. No fan should be paying attention to the trenches, but it’s a point of concern I’ll be reporting on)

  1. Yes, they are now telling full truth. Broken/fractured Ribs take about four about to six weeks to heal.

  2. I remember the first down play when Brisset came in the game Sunday and immediately he saw what Tua was dealing with. The Dolphins tinkered around with all of that draft capitol and instead of seeing a somewhat powerhouse team on their field, we see our quarterback get smashed in just the second game of the season. I mean, after having some hindsight about this off season debacle, probably the only good thing was picking up Jacoby Brisset.

Yes, the drafted players have not panned out, but it’s definitely early. I’ve read and re-read all the great comments that the experts/scouts said about Jaelen Phillips, Austin Jackson, etc., Liam Eichenberg, etc.
They all may turn into busts, but I have to believe that all the experts cannot be wrong about all these players. There has to be a gem ready to shine through, right? Maybe? We pray?

  3. Who cares who plays with this O-line. But as been pointed out before, Brissett took the hits and did not get destroyed. The conclusion that Tua is injury prone may be true. This tells me that the search for a QB remains on. You cant rely, ever, that your O-line is great and if it’s not, your QB is going out for extended periods of time. What if injuries reduce your o-line to average? Now we are supposed to go with the backup every time this happens? This is not a formula for reaching the playoff on any consistent basis. Drew Brees survived because of HOF-like pocket presence and great ability to move in the pocket, non of which Tua has and may not survive long enough to develop. I know this sucks but I think by not taking Herbert this frachise was set back 5 years (at least). In my view the only thing to do (here comes the uncomfortable part) is to trade X Howard for a first (hopefully 2 first or a first and a second) and get a QB next year.

    1. I wouldn’t get that excited WCFF we have to remember that Tua is still virtually a rookie he hasn’t played a full season and is still learning. It took Allen 3 years most of us thought he was an inaccurate boob and then boom he got it. I think with a weak oline, bad playcalling and Tua’s inexperience it was a bad combination. Does it mean Tua will be crap for the rest of his career….I wouldn’t bet on it either way just yet.

      1. That’s rational but Tua has a history of injury and is small, so like you I aint betting on it

I have no problem with the Dolphins “lying” about Tua’s condition. It gave the Raiders a few extra days to guess. Carr might not be able to go for the Raiders either.
West Coast…yes, Brissett took some serious shots, but he also ducked and eluded many more. That is something I’ve never yet seen from Tua, so the escapability advantage goes to Brissett. As does the experience factor. We’re not dead yet. Brissett is no Ray Lucas or Pat White.

    1. Maybe Brissett becomes the Marino replacing Woodley scenerio. Hopefully

I remember when Brady was suspended for deflating footballs, and Jimmy Garrapolo filled in for 4 games. Jimmy then got hurt, and Brissett, the 3rd-stringer, came in. He beat the Dolphins of course! He’s a decent QB, but he has to stay healthy. Let’s not get excited about Reed Stennet, just because he passed the ball 5,000 times against the Bengals’ 6th-stringers in a practice game last month.

        1. Watch that play again ADMIN when Tua got blasted. There were not one, but two, defenders bearing down on him. First game, we watched ILB Roberts get a clean tackle on NE’s quarterback for a sack and he received a “roughing the passer” penalty for it. On the football field you can have all the escape ability in the world but sooner or later you will get hit and hit hard… just ask Joe Montana.

    2. Carr is a go. Raiders just announced it.

Thank you, Moonbear, I hadn’t seen that yet.

  5. Brisset is 6’4″ so he can see better over lineman and make a quick throw before getting hit.
When you are a short QB, about your only option, when the pocket is breaking/collapsing, is to escape and allude (like Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray do). Thus Tua’s challenge….

  6. Admin, at this point, I’ll take Brisset’s 6’4″ and let him play the game! Tua is missing the Russell Wilson power grit and guts! He puts himself out there and does not hold back. I’m already finished with the season…Again! I will be watching Mac Jones as I hope other Dolphin fans will because THAT is what Belichick does best…he picks’em out and no one sees what he sees. His scouts know exactly what to bring in…no glitz glam player from college (Brady wasn’t until he was). Taking Newton was a desperate move and where is he now…waiting for his cell to ring and dressing up on Instagram.

As painful as it was, I watched the game film again, and there is not much I can add to what we already know. I find it interesting that the Bills’ defense is run by a former head coach, Leslie Frazier. I am a big proponent of hiring former head coaches and coordinators to the Dolphins, but we rarely do it. Last time we tried it, Chan Gailey took us from 5 wins to 10 wins. it works. But then Flores got rid of him.
Our current defensive coordinator is a friend of Flores and has never held a high-end position anywhere. Stephen Ross allows his head coach to choose their friends to become coordinators, and this hurts the Dolphins. It pads the resume of an unqualified assistant coach, and it does NOT help the Dolphins.

    1. This really pisses me off about how some people think new is always better. There is a reason why every team has done things the same way for the entire history of football, it works. Being novel just for the purpose of being novel is stupid. ANd experimenting at the cost of a season is even more stupid as windows of opportunity are not open long.

    2. I would still love Rex Ryan to come in and be defensive coordinator! Hell I’d love to have him come in and be the HC and move FLO to DC!
