It’s shocking to see how quick and easy we opened the game, only to be stymied the rest of the way. McDaniel has to get better at counteracting the opponents’ adjustments. I think he will. Sometimes, we all need to take a deep breath and realize he is a man with 7 games under his belt. He’s beaten 4 coaches this year with a combined 900 years’ experience. He will get there. The start is awesome so far.

Similarly, we must realize that the offense–the 11 guys out there starting the game–have only played together for 7 games. Only 7 times have they had a chance to put into motion the new plays they all had to learn. There is SOME continuity and familiarity with each other growing, but just imagine toward the end of the year or the next few years, when that familiarity is second nature. It could be scary good once we’re more experienced in our own offense.

I was extremely impressed on that first drive, and mostly because of the way it started. Eichenberg jumped early, first and 15. Hill got tackled for a loss on a poorly designed play, second and 19. And then Tua took over. He hit Waddle for 20+ yards for a first down, and then never looked back. Impressive.

But the defense was more impressive because they sustained their play all night long. Unlike the offense, who preformed well on one drive only, the D kept it up all night. With a ton of backups, we showed we could win. The Bills are still whining about their injuries in Week 3 when we beat them. We had the same excuse, but overcame it.

The hero was Noah Igbinoghene. As a sign of respect, I have learned how to spell his name and will no longer call him Noah Inactive. After getting butchered all night long, he stepped up to make one of the greatest catches you’ll ever see. The referee right on top of the play called it incomplete, unable to comprehend what Igbinoghene had just accomplished. An unreal ending. I am so happy for that kid now, after 3 years of criticizing him.

Now we move to some doormat teams. The hype of Tua’s “return” is over. Now back to work scoring points against so-so defenses. We’ve beaten the 3 best teams we faced, so now let’s see what McD can do with a healthy Tua vs. some of the NFL’s cellar dwellers.

  1. Look, Tua should’ve been intercepted at least three times in the game against the Steelers. The Dolphins were lucky to get that win. Now don’t be so fast to count the Lions out. Tua has to clean up his act and stop slinging the ball into tight coverage like we saw him do against the Steelers. The Dolphins defense will play fine but we don’t need to see our number one quarterback stupidly giving the ball back to our opponents offense.

I absolutely agree with Phil. It was great to see Tua back on that first drive, but he put us in danger throughout the rest of the game. Trying too hard can be a great character trait, but it can also work against you if the Steeler defense would’ve made one of those four catches.

  2. Fun fact: Charles Harris, (remember him) has 8.5 sacks in 21 games with the Detroit Lions. Heck, I didn’t know he was still in the league 😃

Yes, He’s turned into a beast in the NFC after being a lamb for us!

Dolphins have re-signed former DB Jamal Perry. I like this move. Perry is not a star, but I found him to be versatile like Nik Needham, and he has (at least some) familiarity with the boys. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s an active 53 on Sunday

    1. Safety Jones out for the year with ACL!

  4. Safety Jones is out for the year! ACL!

    1. Yes horrible break but what else is new everyone in the secondary has been hurt even X! Hopefully guys like Darth Kader will be back need all hands.

Tua just came off a bad concussion can we just be happy that he still helped them win and wasn’t pulled out by the creepy stumble spotter…

How about Mostert he was fantastic although Edmonds has been a dudd. He should be improving as he learns the offense but seems to be regressing. I say move Gaskin back up he can at least catch and break one.

Yeah, and when Tua dove to try for a first down, we all breather a sigh of relief once he go back up. But still I was worried. I mean, even if he slipped on the wet field, some doctor would say the concussion caused it and order him to the bench. Guys have to learned how to hide their injuries now instead of playing through them like they did in the 70s.

Those ACLs are so tricky. He hobbled off the field, so my first reaction was it looked like a sprain. The Achilles is the one that you know right away. Guys can’t put any weight at all on that.

  5. Honestly, when Tua ran with the ball twice that I recall, I nearly went thru the TV screen! That is too risky just coming off concussion protocol. It’s not like this was a playoff game and we are fighting to win it. He did comment after the game that he probably should not have made that decision. Liking Mostert!
