A lot to write and cover in the coming weeks, but I thought I’d start here and open this up to our comments and debate.
I was mad about the loss. I was mad at Tyler Huntley in the first half. I was mad at the defense in the second half. 32 points allowed against a 4-12 team is disgusting.
I was mad at Stephen Ross, the ultimate dolt, who didn’t even THINK about making any changes. He could have at least PRETENDED to think about firing Chris Grier. Instead, Ross issued a vote of confidence to McDaniel and Grier about 20 minutes after our season ended in heartbreak again.
Yes, it is wrong to keep rewarding mediocrity, but it’s even worse to reward them 20 minutes after we just failed. At least sleep on it, for God’s sake.
Mike Vrabel will more than likely coach the Patriots next year. Rex Ryan will more than likely coach the Jets. (He’s already stated that he will rein in the pouty shenanigans of Aaron Rodgers. Rex Ryan doesn’t take shit from anyone). Meanwhile, we’re still stuck with the mediocre cast of characters that inept Ross has assembled for us.
Two good things that came out of yesterday. 1) We don’t have to lose to the Bills by 40+ points on Sunday. And 2) We moved up 4 draft spots. We now pick at Lucky 13.
We can’t let Tyreek off the hook either. See link below. There’s talk he took himself out the Jets game in the 4th quarter. I guess we won’t see any team changes until the end of next season – when we finish another 8-9 season.
The Chiefs had the foresight to see that Hill was going to be a problem and knew that Grier and the Dolphins were dumb enough to trade for him. This is one of the many reasons why the Dolphins are the laughingstock of the NFL.

The whole “Hill” debacle is really frustrating to see play out. I say we immediately trade him to the north Alaskan Snow Dogs! If only there was such a team it would be fitting for childish jerks like Hill. On the flip side I understand his frustration as several times I’ve said the same thing, “I’m done with the Dolphins this team sucks” however I always come back. I guess we will wait it out and see how he reacts in a few weeks but this is totally not a good look! In other news I’m sure Ross was in on sitting Tua for a quarter of the season so no one to fire for that stupidity and since Ross is screwing up a full quarter of our season how can he be upset about Gier and McD screwing up their own quarters too! So we got one good quarter of the year and the three guys at the top stunk up the rest. This is life as a dolphin fan the last 40 years or so!
Sitting Tua was such a P.C., stupid and unnecessary move. I agree that coward Ross was in on it, not wanting the media to chastise the Dolphins. “Tua needs to retire right now, but evil Stephen Ross is forcing him to play.”
I know many disagree with me, but Ross made the same mistake several years ago when he got rid of ALL PRO guard Richie Incognito because he teased a teammate. Ross is terrified of any negative publicity. Losing games doesn’t bother Ross. Losing the feel-good entertaining value of the Miami lifestyle DOES bother him. Funny how the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts cleared protocol and will start in the playoffs after a week off.
Boy I forgot about incognito! A true get in the gutter and play football guy, no finess all beat the hell out of the guy on the other side! Kind of what we desperately have needed since he was sent packing!
I would have had no problem if Ross sat down with Richie (and Jonathan Martin) and punished him after giving things some thought and hearing all sides over the course of several weeks. But to suspend Richie an hour before an important prime time game (that we ended up losing because of the distractions/turmoil), just shows the Dolphins have no commitment to winning. Hurt the team first, then look into your options second. That’s the Dolphin way.
According to reports, McDaniel met with Hill on Monday, telling him that taking yourself out of a game is unacceptable. Hill seemed to accept this and was accountable. My guess is that a big apology is coming, and he’ll stay. I never care about what a guy does off the field. Baby Mamas, Arrests, Weed, Supporting Trump or Harris…I don’t care about a guy’s character off the field as long as he produces on the field.
In this recent Hill situation, his shenanigans were ON the field. And that is where I draw the line!
Disappointing season. Dolphins had the easiest Strength of Schedule and couldnt make the playoffs. But also not horrible 8-9. This is an inflection point for this team. It’s hard for me with Grier, on one side this is the most competitive and exciting its been to watch the dolphins in my lifetime! Yet on the other hand with all pros and probowlers talent on the roster we can’t make it to the playoffs. A lot of the blame isn’t on the players but with McDaniel. He isn’t a bad coach and probably slightly above average. But schemes aside, I don’t see how he has gotten better at all. He still makes the exact same first year rookie mistakes. So many of our losses were winnable
A few things to say but first once the donkeys score was shown the team said F it. Don’t blame them the chiefs didn’t show up.
As per Hill take him with a grain of salt. He was upset and obviously didn’t handle it well last thing he needed was a microphone in his mouth. On a good note he was upset about losing not smiling about it I don’t mind that anger.
Should changes be made? You can argue either way. You can’t lose your top two pass rushers and expect a lot of success. But oline and backup QB were mistakes.i wouldn’t mind seeing a new or extra voice in the draft room although I highly doubt that Grier won’t improve the oline. Should draft a decent QB to groom as well.
My main issue is consistency. We are consistently inconsistent, and it hurts.
The D looked so impressive in some games, and Weaver got all this adoration. But they disappeared when we needed them most. Never mind what our offense did in these games, but just consider this: the Titans are the worst team in the NFL, and they scored 31 on our D. The 4-12 Jets just scored 32. Tua was missing from both of these games, and I THOUGHT the D would step up and play their ass off. Nope. We did have Tua in the Cardinals and second Bills games. In BOTH games, we needed the D to make ONE stop at the end of the game. They failed both times.
In my view, that is FOUR of our 9 losses where I adamantly blame the defense.
I blame Tua Turnover specifically for the first Bills loss and the Texans loss. If he held onto the damn ball, we would have won at least one of those.
2 losses on Tua. 4 on the defense. That leave only 3 losses where I blame others, namely our bad backup QBs and Mike McDaniel.
McD got better as a play caller this year, but still doesn’t consistently produce the right results. Remember last Sunday when Achane broke a 60-yarder and got tackled at the 3 yardline? First and goal from the 3. Here’s what you do….You stick with the red-hot Achane, who just a moment ago had knifed them for 60 yards. Four handoffs in a row to Achane, or maybe Jeff Wilson, who’s the toughest of the bunch and can easily fall forward for 2 yards at a time. 4 tries to get three yards, and McD called only one handoff, 2 shitty passes, and then a FG. He needs to be smarter.
I agree with most of this just that the D was playing well in the jests game until they flashed the score all over the stadium. Then the D went into the toilet. Human nature.
Def agree with running it 4 times on the 3 MM seems to abandon the run at the worst of times. He was a little better this year with bad results but sometimes you have to just go with the odds.
FFF, where were you all year in our chats? 🙂
Things got hectic and when I tried I couldn’t get in for the life of me not sure what happened? I do enjoy chatting with everyone though.
Interesting read here about players being late to practices and meetings.

So sad that we have a head coach who’s not a leader. There’s a difference. A coach can teach you things and work out a game plan. X’s and O’s. McDaniel isn’t bad at that. But as a leader? A lot to be desired. Absolutely embarrassing that he NOW says (after 3 full seasons) that skipping practice and removing yourself from a game will not be tolerated. So by inference, in the past 3 years, it was indeed tolerated. Character counts when it comes to winning. Dolphins management simply must do a better job of finding guys who want to win, and not just collect a tax-free paycheck along South Beach with the bikini bimbos. Miami has a bad track record of signing nonperforming slackers who just come here for the lifestyle. Sure, they all SAY they want to win, but actions speak louder than words. Especially when you go to a team where you know you can skip practice whenever you want and get away with it.
THAT falls on McDaniel.
I am not surprised by this discipline reality as anyone could see and feel glimpses of it over the past three years. McDaniel is a good play designer and is emotionally intelligent and that’s it. He is not a good head coach.
That lack of consistency and sloppy execution that admin talks about☝️
is due to their culture and their culture is a result
of Mommy McDaniel’s poor leadership and stewardship.
And Tyreek Hill is poster boy #1. He is toxic to a professional winning culture. The Chiefs were so smart to trade him. If McDaniel wants to change the culture and have his players believe him in 2025, he needs to get rid of Tyreek now. I would like to trade Tyreek, But I think we are stuck with him for another season.
Alas, next year will be more of the same with the Three Amigos McDaniel, Tua, Tyreek….
Hey old friends. its PhinsUp from many years ago!!
I never forgot about this place and am overjoyed its been cranking for over a decade.
Im FB friends with Ron Weiss. Hes a somewhat famous Dolphins fan. He has almost all of the dolphins games on video dating back to the early 80’s . So if you’re interested in Dolphins nostalgia like I am. Hes your guy. But a friend of his posted this on FB and when I read it I immediately thought of DolphinsTruth. And lets be clear its not because I associate this place with criticism per se. But …..HERE IT IS ALLOWED!! unlike just about everywhere else.
So absolutely not!!! I do not want to criticize my favorite team but damn if they don’t stop giving me reasons to do so…..NOT SORRY!!!
I told Ro about this place and I hope he joins. He was a wonderful way with words and like he said, he pulls NO PUNCHES. And to that end, I may start visiting here more regularly.

PhinsUp, how are ya !!?? Yes, we are still at it here on DolphinsTruth, and we always welcome criticism of our beloved Dolphins…unlike following the Dolphins on Reddit, where they practically ban you for criticizing McDaniel or Ross!
The post you sent is interesting, especially since I had forgotten all about Tyreek slapping the old man on the pier. “Just a misunderstanding” he said. 🙁
