For the second time in three years, the Dolphins need a win in Week 18 with a backup quarterback at the helm. A few years ago, Skylar Thompson beat the Jets on the final game of the year to squeak Miami into the playoffs.
Can Tyler Huntley do the same?
Well, anything is possible, and the 2024 Jets are not very formidable. Aaron Rodgers played very well against us last month, and we only won because Jonnu Smith went off in overtime after Jason Sanders kicked a tying FG as regulation expired. We snuck past the Jets, at home, in overtime, while other teams destroy them. We’ll see how Sunday goes.
In addition to a must-win, we also need must-help. The Chiefs’ scrubs and backups with nothing to play for have to beat the scrappy Broncos in Denver, with their whole season on the line. I still like the Chiefs, mostly because their backups will be fighting hard for their jobs and trying to show the coaches that they know the playbook.
I hate the fact that these games are on at the same time. This marks the THIRD week in a row that the Dolphins will be in the Eastern time zone, but still the NFL forces them to play the late game (Which is usually reserved for the West games). The NFL does not like a team knowing another team’s score in advance and adjusting their strategy.
So…all we can do is win and hope for help. Huntley looked okay vs. the Browns, but Aaron Rodgers is a thousand times better than that poor kid QB the Browns threw to our wolves last Sunday. Can we get that final win? Playoffs or no, a 9-8 season is respectable.
I don’t know if I can agree that 9-8 is respectable. From the moment the franchise decided to bench Tua for four games I think respectability was lost in my eyes. How they could concede the year that early on was a mystery to me. Now Tua is hurt and missing games but back than he wasn’t even hurt. Crazy crazy crazy! Can we win in NY? It depends but this is possibly Rodgers last game after being humiliated last week if he gets on a tear we’re done but let’s see. I’m not convinced Tua isn’t playing and even if he doesn’t it looks like both Hill and Waddle will be playing and Huntley can play so let’s see how the finial week plays out. A win at the jets, in the cold, to back into the playoffs, would be huge for this franchise! I’ll see you all on the chat Sunday! Go Fins!
I’d rather lose to the Bills 75-0 in the first round of the playoffs than not even make the playoffs at all. other disagree, but with a youngish offense, we need as much playoff experience as we can
To have the privilege of getting beat by the the Bills, 75-0, in the playoffs, one must first must beat the 4-12 Jets in the last game of the season.
Alas, the this Dolphins team can’t conquer that challenge. Pretty sure we will never conquer that challenge with the current coaching and management regime.
Another week another winnable loss … very frustrated that Grier will be back. McDaniel worries me, I don’t think he has improved as a HC from his first day to now.
