Let me begin my saying how surprised I am to see so much blame going around for the loss on Sunday. All over social media, people are screaming to fire Chris Grier, to make Mike McDaniel give up play calling, to get rid of our useless Special Teams coach Danny Crossman.

While all of that is valid, it’s surprising how unfocused Dolphin fans can be at times. You have to look at Sunday’s loss for what it was: a massive failure by Tua. When we win, it’s a team win. When we lose, you blame the guy who cost us the game. In this case, it was Tua. 100%

Four different times he started drives for us, and four different times he handed the ball to the opponent. Twice in the redzone.

Houston only scored 20 points, and Tua handed them 10 of those. Houston only had ONE legitimate touchdown drive. Our defense was lights-out in the 4th Quarter when we needed them most.

I’m a Tua supporter, but like I always say, I call him out when he stinks up the joint. And Sunday he was the pits. The guy has championship guts. To come off the bench and lead Alabama to the national championship was incredible. So no one can say he chokes under pressure. But at the same time, he blows games for the Dolphins when we need him most.

Even with those 4 gut-wrenching turnovers, fans are out there saying Grier never should have traded Laremy Tunsil. McDaniel calls too many screens. Crossman was ill-prepared for the fake punt that we all saw coming a mile away (Houston had the ball at midfield. They had the lead. They were at home…it was the PERFECT and obvious time for a fake, and yet Crossman was still caught off guard).

Again, all of that is true, but those are all discussions for another day. We lost the Houston game because of Tua. We lost the Packer game because Malik Washington muffed a punt before our offense even set foot on the field. We lost the Seahawk game because Skylar Thompson is a terrible football player. We lost the Cardinal game because of inopportune fumbles by Ingold and Mostert. There’s always something, and the Dolphins are never quite strong enough to overcome the mistakes of one guy. We’ll get there, but the time is not now.

We’ll also get to the point where we question Grier, McDaniel, and others. We’ll get to the point where we point out how Stephen Ross hurts the team (which is always and constant). But for now, I for one am not going to panic and demand a full rebuild. Our QB played like shit and that was that.

  1. Miami has just stunk the season up from the decision to bench Tua for four games. Like you said it’s always something different but the consistent thing is someone screws it up and we can’t overcome. Is it lack of talent… to some degree but more mental errors. If you look at the terrible coaching throughout the year I’d say these coaches don’t have these guys in a position, mentally and physically to win and that allows one guys bad day to sink the day. In other news over at the Miami Herald they’re still running stories on how the Dolphins can still make the playoffs……lol! No they can’t, I don’t even believe they want to the way they keep playing.

The playoffs do seem unreachable, but…every year (never us, but it happens), some team is sitting in the 9th or 10 seed and they need a ton of help to get in. They always find a way! It’s possible at least. This year, we need a miracle. But then again, last year we had a 3-game lead with 3 to play. We had homefield advantage in sight and a first-round bye. The whole world was in our hand, and then we got scrambled by some guy named Will Levis and the lowly Titans.
So I don’t mind needing some help. NOT needing help last year didn’t work out either

      1. Excellent point but did you really need to remind us of Will Leviis! The Dolhins had that game in the bag up 13 with 2:48 left and than BAMM some QB who many thought would go Number 1 slid to 33 in the draft and crushed the Dolphins! I think he’s benched now…….. oh the horrors of memory lane as a Dolphins fan!

  2. what the frick happened to our running game???? Ever since Austin Jackson went down, it has disappeared and has been replaced by a dink and dunk palooza.

and I will say it…Tua chokes under pressure. yeah he had his glorious moment in the Alabama championship game, that is just one moment in a series of failed moments in his professional career. maybe that Alabama moment was more blind obstinate dumb luck.

But Tua can’t be blamed for a poor Online, blamed for dropped passes (ahem Tyreek),
blamed for a poor running game, or blamed for poor coaching and in-game management. he will need those aspects in better form to win his first playoff game and any other playoff game beyond that.

    go Dolphins 🐬

  3. Where do I begin?!! Tua’s big game is way behind him-Alabama’s savior is not going to be doing it again. That was college-the miracle he pulled off is not transferable to the NFL, least of all for Tua. Those Glory Days for him were left on the field along with Roll Tide. This team needs a “legit” QB who is not afraid, yes he is and don’t think otherwise. Watching the games for the past few weeks shows that our QB cannot compare to other team’s QB…even if a team loses, I’m seeing an “effort” that I don’t see with these Dolphins. Not to be confused with the effort you do see, I’m talking about mental effort, a bond that is united. Something this team (and for some past years now) is lacking…They look too soft and maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with the
weather in South FL that begets a lackluster attitude for grit. Teams come to Hard Rock and used to be gasping by the 3rd quarter, but not so much any more, better conditioning I suppose. This team goes to a cold weather stadium and it’s not looking good off the plane! This team is no longer feared like they should and need to be. Respect is lacking…our QB is not a threat. Every time Tua goes back to pass I hold my breath. That shouldn’t be- we should be confident in his abilities if we had a QB that we know can handle the situation the team is in. These are my observations and I’m open to your thoughts. Besides, dumping Grier needs to be first and let a new GM go shopping!
