I admit that the NFL’s salary cap rules are way over my head, but I also know that using a franchise tag on a player protects him and keeps him on your team…probably.

Placing the tag on Mike Gesicki does not make him Dolphins’ property.   He can still sign anywhere he wants, as long as the new team is willing to give us draft picks.  That rarely happens, but it’s possible for a tight-end-desperate team.  It would have been better for the Dolphins to re-sign Gesicki long term, and then use the tag on Emmanuel Ogbah.  Our history (I should say Grier and Flores’s history) of allowing high-impact players to leave has been bad.  Perhaps Ogbah was a one-year wonder, but he deserves to be re-signed.   What did Gesicki do wrong to make the Dolphins NOT want to sign him long term?   Intriguing.

He may not want to return, and that is his choice.   but if he does want to stay, we should do everything possible (i.e., give him money) to make him stay!

  1. OMG! I actually got on your site! Still haven’t been able to recently!

    1. Yes, I noticed for the past couple months I can’t access the site on my cell phones network (Verizon), but have no problems accessing it on wifi. I thought it was odd.

  2. Yes I was able to get on with my cell too. Whatever you did admin keep it up.

Personally I think they need Gesicki because they don’t have a lot of weapons yet. Maybe Long comes around this year and if so they may cut bait or trade him. Only they know. They probably draft a WR unless they sign one again. I just know that the oline must be fixed cinci was fortunate their QB wasn’t killed not a great strategy going that route especially with Tua.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Gesicki, and we do need him. But I woulda done a long-term deal to keep him in Miami for a decade. Reward our loyal and productive Dolphins with deals to make them happy. That is a better strategy than a franchising him for one year, and then we go through it all over again in 2023.

  3. Continued thanks for letting me know about the site issues you’ve had. It affects me too when I try to get to my own site. My ISP is useless, telling me to clear my cache and other lies. I tell them that a cache issue on my PC does not affect other users around the country and Canada. But they come back with “the site works fine when we try it” Frustrating

    1. ADMIN- If your looking for a different ISP I recommend BlueHost. I had a business website from 2001-2013. I originally has IPowerWeb and it was a nightmare. They kept limiting my account saying my site was getting hacked and sending spam or some crap. They were located in China and it took over 6 months to get my site moved from them. They changed providers so I took many calls to get a rep who was able to unlock my account as everyone else didn’t know how to do it. I had BlueHost for at least 6 years after that and it was top notch service. They are located in Utah and there is never any wait getting ahold of support. The price is very reasonable too.

      1. Thanks, I will definitely be switching whenever my current annual contract expires.

  4. Well Ogbah’s staying not too bad of a deal considering DE is a money position.

Word is they are going after JC Jackson imagine that secondary if they keep all of the CB’s! Although I bet X or Jones would be moved either way you weaken the patsies so I’m good with it.

    1. I agree. Almost everyone said this is wise for Miami. A LOT of teams were set to go after Ogbah, and now they cannot. I like this signing, and the kid deserved it.

  5. Just added G Connor Williams looks like a good addition. Can play multiple positions rated higher than the rest of the group. He will help the cause.

  6. I’ve missed this site darn it! I’m glad they made the rdecision to keep Ogbah bec. he was going to be nabbed fast if the Dolphins didn’t lock him down with a contract. When they say it’s not about the money, it’s always about the money! Gesicki was the only big body we had out there to catch a ball! Grier would be foolish to have not tagged him or signed him. I would have definitely preferred a signing to keep him around longer. Why were they so hesitant? Grier is on his last life this season….if Dolphins don’t add some good players, fingers will not point at McDaniel!

  7. Preston Williams is an interesting re-signing. The guy never plays for more than a few games a year, but his potential forces us to keep him around!

  8. What do you guys think of Teddy Bridgewater? I haven’t really followed him much, but seems like a solid choice for a backup.

    1. I haven’t been on this site in a while, but I came back to ask the same question. I’m wondering the consensus about Teddy Bridgewater. My first thought is there is no way he will quietly accept being a back up. I Just hope he competes for the starting job in camp, but doesn’t mouth off or make a scene or cause a disruption to the team. Everything I’ve heard so far is that he is 100% a team player, so I expect no drama

      1. I hope he does get heated, so to speak. I hope he wants the job and I want competetion for Tua.

        1. Competition is a good thing but overall Tua’s ceiling is higher at this point. I just feel confident if he goes down Bridge can at least win a few games. If he was here last year they make the playoffs.

Bringing in Mostert is a good thing he’s fragile but they have lots of depth now. If he can remain active they’ll have a good thing going as he is fast!
