I keep hearing that Tua and Grier are in talks, and it’s all amicable. Neither side is in a rush. I’d LOVE to know what is REALLY happening.
As I have said, Tua partially sealed his own fate by having two horrible Decembers in a row. And it’s NOT just because of the cold. Losing at home to the lowly Titans was beyond inexcusable. And the previous December of 2022, Tua had horrible games at home vs the Packers and also at San Francisco. In gorgeous weather.
It’s not the cold that gets to him, it’s the changing of the calendar.
Grier sees this too, otherwise a mega-deal would be done already.
Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb both will be inactive for training camp. Let’s hope they are ready for Week One, but they definitely won’t be out there practicing with the guys when camp begins.
More to come…
What are your thoughts on the new signings, rookies, free agents?? Anyone you’re excited about?
It’s a little slow here probably summer vaca’s etc. but I’m always up for a Tua discussion, you know that! Soooo, as you mentioned above, I do not see why Tua should be rewarded with a big bucks contract. What have we gotten from him? Games lost when we needed the big win? I’m all for play for pay and when we get to the AFC Championship Game, then we can talk money. Until then, prove your worth.
People often overlook that he’s already under contract. All this talk is about extending him after the 2024 season. If the Dolphins don’t lift a finger, then Tua is obligated to play under his current contract. I could be wrong, but he’s not the type to sit out and whine. Mentally, it would make him feel great and give him confidence (which hopefully makes him better) to get a big deal done, but we’ll see. I agree with you about pay for play. Perhaps Tua’s side is pointing to his September-November performance, while the Dolphins’ number crunchers are pointing to December and January. Just compromise and get something done
Ogbah is back!!!
I like this signing, as he’s familiar with the players. I can’t say he knows the defense already, because it’s the 4th time in the last 5 years our guys have had to start brand new. Shaq Barret walking out 2 days before camp hurts. I’m sure the coaches were already scheming and planning where to use him, and then BOOM; he decides he doesn’t want to play anymore. Wish he decided that before signing bonus
Just heard Odell Beckham is hurt. Status for his season or camp is unknown. 🙁
Tua showed up for practice today. In case anyone was wondering if he would hold out.

I love Tua, but I won’t be a hypocrite. I have always despised guys who hold out. You guys know this. It’s the same for this modern term: “hold in.” Yes, he is at practice, but he’s not fully practicing.
Players do this to avoid a fine, and the powerful union protects them.
Despite what Tua is worth in 2025 and beyond, this is 2024. Tua is under contract for 2024. He committed, in writing, when he signed his contract, to play for the Dolphins through 2024.
Now he’s not really honoring his word. Whether we pay him 60 million dollars in 2025 or pay him 60 cents…that is irrelevant at this point. It’s 2024 and he’s under contract. Get out there and earn your “paltry” $26 million instead of strong-arming the Dolphins for more. You are Tua, after all! Not Xavien Howard!
well said Admin, I second that!
Well said, Admin. I second that!
Thanks. I know I like Tua more than you, and it pains me to criticize him in a case like this, but he’s in the wrong, just like every other holdout.
This is just conjecture, and I don’t claim to have inside info…But it seems that Stephen Ross loves Tua, and the admiration from the teammates seems to be real as well. No doubt that the all the right people want him back. So my conjecture is that Chris Grier and the money men are the holdup. Ross has the power to end this and tell Grier what to do. But obviously Ross has not done so. So there has to be some inner-workings going on that no one is really privvy to.
And personally, even if this gets resolved today, it still leaves me with a bad feeling toward Tua for holding us hostage. X Howard was never the same after he held out too.
Admin, I may be outnumbered on here but I actually got a sinking feeling in my stomach when I saw the Tua contract info come out on my phone. This dude better play light his curly mop top is on fire, en fuego, flames, and blow torched! So IF he gets hurt, our backup is….drum roll….wait for it….Sklyler Thompson. That’s not a comforting thought. Nothing was done to address this…Disgusted with the Dolphins, Ross & Grier.
Well, we have Mike White as our #2 and Thompson #3. But your point is still valid. We don’t have a proven backup. As I’ve been pointing out, this new contract would have been more deserved (and you would feel better) if Tua stepped up in December and January, instead of regressing. This is the part where people say “But it was cold weather and you can’t expect him to thrive.” And then it’s my turn to say, “In the last two Decembers, he played terribly in warm weather as well.” I think McDaniel has a ton to do with our December failure(s), but Tua didn’t help. By the way, in his press conference, he seemed really happy and talked about getting “life-changing money.” He is already making $26 million per year? Didn’t that change his life already? What can you buy with $50 million that you can’t afford with “only” $26 million? All that being said, I am glad he’s content and can biw concentrate on football.
It is done.
Congrats Tua on getting your $94 million guaranteed.
I will root for you even though I have my doubts.
No need to argue (anymore). He is our QB for the next three years.
It is show-me-a-playoff-win time.
Time for Tua to grow up.
Go Tua, Go Dolphins 🐬!
We can still argue….especially after he throws his first pick of the year! 🙂
instead of arguing, let’s make a bet…I bet you one beer Tua throws a pick in first game of this season. I bet you one Frothy beer 🙂
Admin, you KNOW I will be the first or one of the first on here to blow Tua out of the stadium should he screw up at any point this season….reason being he is getting paid big boy QB salary…and he has not shown he is “that” quarterback. Should he get hurt,
we will be watching our season of dreams go down with him. With Tua making his big bucks now, is he suddenly going to morph into the next Mahomes? No F’ng way. Ross was lusting over Tua and the aura from Alabama- he fell for it all like a hot stripper!
