I hate bye weeks. It’s just a way for the NFL to milk an extra week of ad revenue and turn 17 weeks into 18. I was bored to death last weekend without my Dolphins.

Up next is the Colts. Tyler Huntley will enter his third game as starter, with a 1-1 record that could very easily have been 0-2. In fairness, it could have been 2-0 also, but somehow we’ve lost a prime time home game TWO YEARS IN A ROW to one of the worst teams in the league, the lowly 1-4 Titans.

Huntley has been with us a month now, and every interview out there from every single Dolphin is the same: “He’s done a great job learning the offense. Good leader. Etc etc.” We’ll see how it goes on Sunday.

I will never understand how some backup QBs just “get it.” Tom Brady or Brock Purdy comes into the middle of a game with zero experience, and a few PLAYS later (not weeks or months or years later), they are All Pros. With the Dolphins, our backups are perennial losers.

That being said, EVEN IF we had our #1 quarterback, I’m not convinced the results would be much different. We barely squeaked by the Jags with Tua, and the Bills already had clinched our Week 2 game by the time Tua decided to dive headfirst into a dude.

Ironically, Tua’s head hit Damar Hamlin’s chest…the two most fragile things in NFL history collided…and Hamlin won that round.

The O line is not solid, and none of the 4 QBs who have taken snaps for us this year have had much time. Their run blocking is much better, so I’ll focus on that particular positive. Raheem Mostert was a difference maker in the last game. Achane SHOULD be cleared to play this week. Jeff Wilson got hurt during pre-game stretching (can’t make this stuff up, folks), and is still out. And Jaylen Wright is playing well so far. So the running back by committee approach is not leading to points, but it has indeed been more productive that our passing game.

Given the Colts have all their starters ready and playing, they are favored by 4 points. I think this should be higher. But for some reason, the oddsmakers think our offense is still potent. Let’s hope they are right. It would be a wonderful thing to escape with another road win and then get ready for Tua to come back at home against the Cards.

  1. Coming off the edge of cliff, I have grabbed the only sliver and hand of hope…. and that is our running game.

We cannot be a pass primary offense. we must run the ball often, and stick with it. we have the running game tools in Mostert and Wright. The QB must turn into a game manager. This statement also applies to Tua and his return. Screw your pass stats, Tua and Tyreek. Screw it.

The running game Is are only hope.

  2. We can’t win on field goals alone. We honestly haven’t had a good backup qb since Matt Moore. If we get one touchdown it’ll be a miracle.
