Dolphins Truth

I’ll say this right off the bat:    I don’t see how Damien Williams is ranked higher on the depth chart than LaMike James and Mike Gillislee. But it’s especially baffling to see Williams ranked higher than Jay Ajayi, given how good Jay looked last night Last night, Ajayi showed why we drafted him:  he’s a bruising runner who can make the first guy miss and then run over the second guy. Williams, Gillisleee, and James have some moves, but they are not overpowering.  The next time Lamar Miller runs through a would-be tackler will be the first.  Ajayi is different. Plus, he is British,Read More →

Tom Brady whining and crying and appealing means bad news for the Dolphins. A few months after Patriot  liar owner Robert Kraft said that the Patriots would accept whatever fate the NFL handed them, Tom Brady’s whining got his suspension erased.   And that’s bad news for Miami. Well, it’s not horrible news. The Patriots were going to win the AFC East with or without Brady for those 4 games.   But now they will win it even easier. Let’s face it, the Dolphins added a star player or two this off-season, just like they do every year.  They had a good draft (on paper),Read More →

Brandon Fields, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013, then got a HUGE raise, and then rewarded the Dolphins by having his worst season ever, has been cut. The normally reliable Fields blew too many punts last year, making this decision a little easier. I don’t mind that the Dolphins cut him.  Let’s hope the new rookie does just as well. What bothers me is that it appears to be a cost-cutting move.  All we hear about is Mr. Ross will spend whatever it takes and…blah blah blah.   Cut the guy if you think the rookie is better, but don’tRead More →

Like a pest who just won’t go away, Jonathan Martin continues to make news. Two years after he quit on the Miami Dolphins. A year after the 49ers got rid of him. A month after he quit on the Panthers. Somehow, this serial quitter still makes news. This week, he’s been whining about how he felt suicidal.  He admitted using drugs.  He admitted how often he got drunk.  Yet, despite those obvious unproductive (and non-LEGAL) activities, he still wants us to feel he is the victim. Now, more than ever, the Dolphins should be apologizing to Richie Incognito and begging him to come back.  ButRead More →

It’s very rare that Dolphins Truth posts two articles in a row about such a similar topic, but the incessant praise for the Dolphins first-team offense just won’t stop. Again, I don’t know what these other “experts” are seeing, but it sure isn’t a high-quality dominant and unstoppable offense. I’m guessing that they watch the Dolphins score a first-quarter TD against the Bears, and then again watched them do the same against the Panthers. Wow!  Stop the presses!  The Dolphins scored touchdowns, so therefore we have a brilliant offense.   Uhhh, no. On the first play of each game, Lamar Miller gotRead More →

It’s no secret that Joe Philbin is the worst coach in the NFL.  During Saturday’s game at Carolina, he proved it once again. Rather than than accept a second and goal from the Carolina 2-inch line, Philbin instead made a move to give the Panthers the ball at their own 20. Philbin keeps his mouth shut, and the Dolphins go up 21-0.  Philbin tries to be cute, and we lose the game. Sadly, his rationale had nothing to do with this being a meaningless scrimmage again; instead, Clueless Joe thought it was the right call.  Dolphin fans are very accustomed to this.  Carolina fans simplyRead More →

The Bears’ scrub players are better than ours. The media is REALLY over-hyping our first-string offense.   Yes, they scored on a nice opening drive, but it wasn’t smooth.  We had first and goal and the Bears stopped us three plays in a row. Then a Bear penalty gave us another third down.   Wasted. Then we went for it on 4th down.  (In a real game, there is no way on earth that Clueless Joe goes for 6 in that scenario).    We also had two holds on the opening drive…it was not a clean drive at all. The Dolphins got  touchdown out ofRead More →

What should we expect from tonight’s “game” against the Bears?   In a word:  nothing. Seriously, you have to go into these games knowing that they are a glorified practice session, rather than a true contest of who can score the most points.   If the Dolphins win or lose, that doesn’t matter of course. But just because the game itself doesn’t mean anything, there are still things to pay attention to.  The Miami Herald (and their copycat friends at The Phinsiders) continue to report the obvious:  The Dolphins are unsettled at the guard position.  Caleb Sturgis has a challenger.  The running backs are allRead More →

I don’t know about other Dolphin fans, but when I read about how practices are going, the only thing I’m looking for is if anyone tore an ACL or blew out a knee that day. Not much else matters. Do we care if some undrafted 15th-string wide receiver made a nice catch of a Mcleod Thompson pass against a bunch of ham-and-egger defenders who won’t be on the team this season? Do we care that the coaches “took note” of some bubble player who did well that day?  Remember how many times Michael Egnew looked great in practice and received so much praise in practice?Read More →

A few random thoughts for us all to ponder… A few days ago, the Dolphins announced that they’d be wearing their throwback uniforms from the 1960s. The colors were aqua and orange, not stupid powder blue.  The Dolphin on the helmet was upright and majestic, proudly wearing his M helmet.    The Dolphin is in the middle of the sun, jumping in front of it.  (Trivia:   There used to be 2 teams whose logo included a helmet on their helmet.   The Dolphins were one, but now only one remains…?) Since this was announced, nearly everyone has been talking about how great these uniformsRead More →

Let’s not kid ourselves.  The New England Patriots ARE Tom Brady.  They will lose at least 3 of the 4 games without him, and more than likely all four. The bad news is that none of those four games are against Miami.  Why couldn’t we play N.E. in weeks 1, 2, 3, or 4? In Week One, the Patriots will lose to Pittsburgh.   That means Pittsburgh will be 1-0 and already 1-0 in an AFC game.  At the end of the year, that AFC record is hugely important. Next up is Buffalo.  This hurts even more than the Pittsburgh game.   Buffalo will getRead More →

Jonathan Martin,  the Judas who turned his back on the Dolphins because his friends teased him, has retired from the NFL. Rather than simply have surgery, Martin has chickened out (again).  He opted to quit (again). I strongly predict a lawsuit coming from this.  As I reported many many times after reading the Wells Report and after watching Martin’s ludicrous interview withRead More →

Let’s hope the geniuses at Harvard are right. In a new scientific and mathematical study of the upcoming 2015 NFL season, scientists at Harvard analyzed a mind-numbing amount of data and determined that the Miami Dolphins will be in the Super Bowl. More than likely, the study did NOT take into account the negative role that Joe Philbin plays.  Our roster has improved greatly, but the man who controls that roster on game day is still the same old Clueless Joe. For example, the geeks at Harvard probably know that you do NOT call a defensive time out when the other team is exhausted andRead More →

Former Dolphins Defensive Coordinator Bill Arnsbarger has passed away.   He was a genius. plain and simple.  No other way to describe what he did. He inherited a laughing stock defense under Don Shula, and in just a few short years had them playing in three Super Bowls in a row, winning the last two. He built the no-name defense and rode them to the championships.  When Bob Griese broke his leg, the Dolphins defense had to rise to a new level in 1972, they did so under Arnsbarger. Pay attention this weekend to what the old Dolphins say about this guy.   Every player will beRead More →

Andre Johnson recently stated that the Dolphins were his first choice of teams to sign with, but Miami never reached out to him.   As many of our regular readers know, we’re not real big on spending big money on free agent receivers. You need to look no further than New England, who are perennial winners no matter who Tom Brady throws to.  Name me one WR that New England drafted in the last 10 years?    I can’t think of one.  Name me one big name WR that the Pats signed as a free agent?   Not a one….unless you count Danny Amendola. Could Andre Johnson haveRead More →
