Well, our wish of hiring Mike McCarthy has (as expected) come and gone. Why on earth would Stephen Ross want to hire a Super Bowl-winning coach when instead he can hire an inexperienced, arrogant prick who dreams of winning a Super Bowl? That’s who we’re stuck with in “QB Genius” Adam Gase.
Defeating the Patriots is not as hard as it seems. You need to rush and pressure Tom Brady. Rushing 3 men and dropping 8 back into coverage does not work. ATTENTION MATT BURKE. Last week, we tried that, and we did a great job covering the Bills receivers. But then their QB panicked when no one was open, and he simply ran the ball, for over 100 yards.
If we try it today (and sadly we will), Tom Brady will not run. But he won’t panic either. Instead, he’ll just wait you out. He WILL find an open man among your 8 DBs. Just look at how wide open Charles Clay was on the final pass last week. Dropping 8 men back worked in the 1990s, when it confused QBs who were expecting a blitz. But it does not work any more. The teams who beat NE this year harrassed Brady all day long. We did it last year on MNF and beat him. It can be done, but you must follow the blueprint of all the teams who beat NE. What you must NOT do is get cute and creative. There is no need for schemes and innovation. You must simply rush some extra men.
But following common sense has never been easy for Adam Gase, so I expect the same old nonsense today.
The Pats go to Pittsburgh next week in a game that could mean the Patriots lose their bye week. It’s a HUGE game for them, so we may just catch them sleeping today….

Glad that we won, but the loss did not hurt NE. Because the Texans and Steelers both choked against horrible teams, the Pats remained as the #2 seed, losing no ground in my wish for them to not get a first round bye!
Admin, I agree with you that with this win (I’m not trivializing it but NE was right there to win it!) moron Ross will doubtfully keep Gase on for another season….when is this going to end? Cuz you know this was fluke and luckily for MIA the NE players all thought at least one of their own would tackle one of our guys! I mean when does NE not do what the are supposed to do?? Yesterday, they were waiting for each other to get to our player so in the end no one did, Gronk looked like he kinda tripped over his feet or the turf but it was a collapse all over and I’m happy we gave them a miserable plane trip back to cold Mass!
