In a pathetic display the Dolphins’ starting offense only scored one touchdown against Baltimore’s third and fourth stringers. Any time–that’s ANY time—your top-caliber players go up against a bunch of rookies and has-beens, you should easily score every single time. But we didn’t come close. just think how well we will do when we face teams in the real season, when we face first-string defense. It’s gonna be ugly.
It’s not too late though. We can hope and pray that Adam Gase has been holding back. We hope that he has a much better playbook this year that he hasn’t showed off yet. Doubtful, but one may hope. One reason I’m not optimistic is when we faced a third and inches Saturday night, Gase called for a shotgun set with 5 wides. We picked up the first down on a slant to Gisecki, but it was still an unwise play call. THAT leads me to believe we’re still stuck with the same old “Genius QB Whisperer” Adam Gase.
Also, by the way, we are absolutely dead if Tannehill gets hurt. Fales and Osweiller are absolutely horrendous. But that’s what Stephen Ross gets when he allows his head coach to hire his old pals, both of whom failed under Gase on other teams.

Backup QB is a big problem but I wouldn’t worry to much about the offense based on the pre season. Last year in the third pre season game against philly we scored 31 and the offense was terrible during the year.
Since the end of last season, all we heard about was all of the weapons on offense. What weapons? They have been offensive all right. I originally said 5 and possibly 6 wins the day the schedule was announced. Vegas agreed a few weeks later. No I see 4 and maybe 5 wins at best. And a Bottom 4 ranking as the NFL’s worst teams. Trading and cutting your 3 most talented players was huge. Run defense-what run defense? Now you will see what I said would happen when Suh left. Will Amendols cath 100 passes this season as a replacement? How many games will he miss due to injury? I was hoping the OL would be at least average-that has turned into a pipe dream.
Lol….. What is hysterical is in the commentary during the game they kept referring to the OL as a streangth of the team at one time even marveling that they gave tannehill so much time to throw the ball.
So not only does the team suck but it’s time to retire the color comentery crew!
Yes, wasn’t that baffling? The “strength” of out team was getting our QBs killed all night!!
I thought the first team OL did a good job…ball slipping out of Tannehill’s hand and the center exchange mishandle killed those drives. Second team OL bad! I liked how in the 5 WR sets Gesicki was out wide and even more excited about Drake out there! He’s a great receiving back. Those lineups should create a miss match often. I think Tannehill is going through his progressions well, I do think Gase is holding back on deeper route calls till it counts. The one deep pass to Drake was nice. Tannehill read that linebacker miss each all the way. I thought the starting DL did a good job of creating QB pressures. First team Run D was much better. More concerned about the miss tackling and penalties. Except Minka Fitzpatrick, again, he’s going to be great for us! I actually think we have someone who can sniff out screens, we always get killed on screens! Second team defense is abysmal! This season is all going to come down to us running the ball well and keeping the defense off the field. And Tannehill staying healthy! Back up QB situation is bad! Cautiously optimistic….as always admin!!! LOL!
Never one to disappoint HC Gase stated that he might keep both Fales and Owlsiler as backups to Tannehill! Its incredible to think that on a team so devoid of talent we would keep two overpaid crappy backups. Why not go find some undrafted guy and give him a shot over one of the two washups. If Tannehill goes down any sembenince of winning is out the window so why take the roster spot for a a second backup QB? Gase stated it’s because it’s so hard to develop quarterbacks. Ok so you want to keep and develop three? Why don’t you forget your pals and concentrate on Tannehill? We have a very slim margin at winning any of our games to me this is typical Gase….. stupid!
I’m not saying the Osweiler had played better than Fales, but it seems to me that Osweiler has been playing with the bottom of the barrel players. He’s getting killed out there because he’s playing behind the 4th strong O-line, and throwing to 5th-string WRs. Meanwhile, Fales gets to play with the second strings. Brock was fairly productive one season in Denver, so maybe he has something left. That’s a big maybe!
I would agree with you and at least Osweiler has experience. He was on the Dever team that won the Superbowl and the next year he went to the divisional game against NE. Although they lost he did win a playoff game.
If they keep three I’d go with Ossweiler and Petty. At least Petty may improve he’s young enough and looked good with bums. You can put Fales on the practice squad to be safe he’s not going anywhere anyway.
I think that they’ll be fine as Drake looks good. Just as long as the D is OK. May take some time though lots of youth there. If the dline can kick ass it would help. Quinn looks nuts…
Yes I would definitely agree about petty over Fales and the practice squad isn’t a bad idea…. I don’t think he would take it but maybe Gase can use some of his “Whispering” skills and con him into it! The big issue I still see is the first team offense still has shown 0 passion to come out and open a game by driving the ball down the opponents throats. They start so slow. Look three series of three and outs isn’t good. It’s not ok, it’s not mediocre. In the real NFL it gets you beat week in and week out and the Dolphins (starting with the coaches) are sleep walking through the first quarter of the last two games.
