Should the Miami Dolphins be featured on the Miami Dolphins’ App ?

Yes, it should be a rhetorical question.   But very few things make sense when it comes to Stephen Ross’s handling of the Miami Dolphins.  I’m sad and embarrassed to point out (yet ANOTHER) example of Ross’s lack of priorities when it comes to our favorite team.

You guys know who Mr. Ross is, right?   He’s the NY Jet fan who lives in New York City, travels to Michigan to watch his favorite sports team (the Wolverines) play, foists such luminaries as Clueless Joe Philbin and Genius Adam Gase on us, and thinks it helps the Dolphins win football games when he gives away home games.  The list is long and goes on and on.

My latest gripe is with the Dolphins App.   See the screen shot here.  While 31 other NFL teams are busy touting the upcoming season, Mr. Ross’s app instead touts a rap concert.  Twice.  Including the huge headline banner.  A mention of the Dolphins is in there too, mixed in there among soccer and college football.

The “Dolphins” app.

Way to promote the Phins!   Way to win over a tired and beleaguered fan base!  I guess if we want to read about the Dolphins, we have to go to the Jay-Z website?

By the way, even the Dolphins link on the app isn’t a Dolphins link!   It’s actually a link to the Hard Rock Cafe, where you can watch Dolphin games on TV.   Not a single mention of Week One.

I have no problem if Mr. Ross wants to promote anything he wants on the Hard Rock Stadium website, but this is the Miami Dolphins app.

Sadly, it’s just another example in the long list of Mr. Ross using the Dolphins for non-football purposes.   Remember how many games Gloria Estefan and Fergie helped us win?

  1. That IS hilarious-and sad! It’s time fans realize Ross is at best,a silent partner. He has always provided the money to the lame Back Offices we’ve had for decades,so I can’t blame him for being cheap. But he’s an absentee owner at best. All the NFL was interested in was his money when they approved him-not his interest in the team.

Yes, agreed fully. He’s not cheap with his money, getting us Suh. But he’s not smart with his money, getting us Cutler.

      1. Did he have input in deciding to sign Cutler? I put 100% on the blame on the Back Office for that. He probably thought Cutler worked at a deli.

Ha! I don’t think he had the input, but he signed the $10 million check, so he deserves at least some blame.

  2. Admin your always so negative and I think your biased on this topic! I mean didn’t you notice the new fighting Dolphin logo front and center at the bottom of the app?

    1. Author

LOL, you mean the tiny black-and-white logo in microscopic font buried at the bottom?

    2. Go easy on admin,he’s still reeling from the Ajayi giveaway.

      1. Lol…. honestly he could write a story a week about mismanagement on this team thats how rampant it is. Remember when Detroit was the laughing stock of the NFL? We are the new Detroit!

Sad but true. Cleveland has won a single game in the last two seasons and fresh off of a 0-16 campaign, and yet there is still a buzz in the air about them and how strong their fan base is. Nothing like that for the Dolphins.

          1. Yes and even in Detroit when they were really bad they would show pictures of fans in the stands with bags over their heads. Were so bad the only fans they show are the opposing teams fans!

Our fans try to use the app to buy tickets, but we only sell rap concerts and soccer.

I wonder how many Lions fans will come to Miami on 10-21.

  3. Rarely do I comment, but I feel compelled today. I sometimes agree with Admin’s perspective on the Dolphins and more importantly, I appreciate the counter point to the overly optimistic Dolphins news sites. As a fan, I welcome both sides of every story.

However, today’s story is highly misleading. It implies the Dolphins are an afterthought of the Miami Dolphins app. This is simply not true. Instead, the Miami Dolphins app doubles as an app for Hard Rock Stadium (you know, the stadium owned by the team, unlike most other teams) to advertise events at the stadium (you know, to help justify the 500 million investment from Mr Ross not our government like most teams). As it doubles as both a Dolphins and Hard Rock app, it has modes for both. I just installed the app for the first time, and nothing but dolphins information appears on screen. Once I click the Hard Rock logo at the bottom of the screen (as you must have done), the information changes to Hard Rock stadium events, including Football, Soccer, College Football, etc. This is clear from your screenshot which says Hard Rock Stadium at the top and the Dolphins logo (to switch to the dolphins page) at the bottom.

I might agree with some of your statements on Miami Dolphins football, but I do not understand your seemingly complete hatred for everything Mr Ross (not even sure you like the Dolphins as you hardly every have praise for anything they do). Nonetheless, I had to respond to this extremely misleading article…

Kenny, thank you for the comment. i can tell you are sincere, and I encourage you to comment more often, including times you disagree.
Let me just say this…I also just clicked on the App to open it, and it indeed opened to all Dolphin items like you said.
However, please trust me, for the past 5 days, it was opening to the screen shot above. I didn’t tap anything to get there. i simply opened the DOLPHINS APP, and there was Jay-Z. I didn’t intend to mislead anyone, and I was honestly writing about my experience this week.
They obviously updated the app for today’s game day, and I encourage them to keep this up permanently.

  4. On a different note just watched the game on delay and the backups finally looked good which was nice to see. Ossweiler was great, the oline good, dline stellar lots of pressure which makes me feel a little more confident with the depth. Nice to see Sanders nail a 56 yarder at the end too. Go Fins!!!

  5. Been watching the cuts. Caroo gone but Parker gets to stay??

    1. Caroo has been horrible total bust. He looked like he had given up. I’d rather have a few guys before him. Parker does need to get his shit together he’s only around now because of potential.
