Maybe the NFL will place another spy in the stands at our practice today, and if he sees Tua drink some water during a break, he will run to the Players’ Union to declare that “Thirst is a symptom of a concussion. I order Tua to sit for the next month.”

  1. Haha. Sadly it wouldn’t surprise me if it did happen.

Well, our kid coach is a fine play caller, but I’m realizing he has so much to learn in regards to NFL competitiveness. As I’ve been harping on since Sunday, he just takes the league’s decisions and dubious rulings with a grain of salt, with zero protest. And now today, he already announced that Tua will not play Sunday.
That’s fine. Let him rest and begin the season again next Sunday at 3-3. BUT…. Why announce this now? He can announce Tua’s status Sunday morning at 11 am. NOT 4 days prior.
Let the Vikings wonder if they’ll be facing a righty or a lefty. Let them wonder about schemes, etc etc. It HURTS the Dolphins to let the opponent know these things.
Smarter coaches hide this kind of information weekly. Mike McD gives it away early and for free. He’s too worried about media backlash over Tua’s health and he wants to soothe the public, instead of helping his own team. Really bad of him to do this so early.

I’ve been following the situation with the Pats’ QB. Brian Hoyer is iffy. Mack Jones is iffy. The rookie Zappe is healhty.
I will bet my life that Bill Belichick knows who his starter will be on Sunday.
    But he ain’t saying.
He has experience and he knows better than to give away valuable information to the opponent.
Mike McDaniel is not so smart. He has helped the opponent already. This is NOT a situation where you need to learn from experience. No, this is basic upsmanship 101. Do NOT tell the opponent who you are starting until Sunday morning. I still can’t believe our rookie coach dropped the ball with such a thud.

  4. I think you stated it correctly- McD is worried about the media backlash. After all, the Dolphins aren’t known to be media darlings like the Pats, Packers, and others.

  5. Who’s starting? I’d simply say I don’t know ask the stumble spotter….Let them piss in the wind to figure it out.
