Let’s hope we never have another 2nd half of a game where we get zero points.   Although we held on to beat the Jets, it is a recipe for failure to only score in the first half. Let’s also hope that we score on our first possession.   A touchdown even.   It seems like ages since that happened. Last week, Ryan Tannehill said the ball slipped out of his hand when he threw that terrible endzone interception to the Titans’ Malcolm Butler.   Yesterday, the ball slipped from his hand and the Jets recovered.   I don’t know how you correct sweaty hands, but it needs to be addressed.   These were both big turnovers near the goal lines, and the ball slipped while Tannehill wasn’t even hit.  Have you ever seen another QB with such slippery hands two weeks in a row? A few highs and lows to begin our season, and let’s start with the lows so we can end on a high note… The lowest of the lows goes to the NFL itself. It is utterly ridiculous to suspend a game for rain. This is not MLB, and football players are not afraid of getting wet and dirty. Your excuse about lightning strikes is just that…an excuse. By all accounts, MarQueis Gray had a great pre-season, so it hurts the team that he’s out indefinitely with an Achilles tear.  Gray was versatile and a good team player, never mouthing off when he had to sit behind inferior tight ends like Julius Thomas and AJ Derby. The two rookie tight ends will have to step up now, so this is their chance.  We also re-signed journeyman Gavin Escobar, who at least knows the offense better than signing some guy off the street.   So far, the Dolphins have made the best of a bad situation. There were no real surprises with the Saturday cuts, and that is both good and bad. It’s good, because the Dolphins stuck with most of the players who were expected to make the team.   No locker room leader got the axe.   No experienced veteran got sacrificed in order to take a chance on some kid.   There’s a sense of consistency among the 53 men who’ve been together since April. In a pathetic display the Dolphins’ starting offense only scored one touchdown against Baltimore’s third and fourth stringers.  Any time–that’s ANY time—your top-caliber players go up against a bunch of rookies and has-beens, you should easily score every single time.   But we didn’t come close.  just think how well we will do when we face teams in the real season, when we face first-string defense.  It’s gonna be ugly. A slow little white guy barely 150 lbs took the ball and scampered 71 yards against our first-string defense Friday night.  You have to assume that both of our safeties, and both of our CBs, and at least one of our new stud LBs are faster than this guy.   It just goes to show you that even though our men are faster than him, they didn’t have a chance to catch him because they were sooooo out of position. Last week, the booth announcers mentioned several times how bad the Dolphins’ offense was last year.   About 5 different times, they mentioned that Miami was ranked 27th in third-down conversions last year and like 30th on 4th down.   Unacceptable and terrible.
