If DeShaun Watson had no legal troubles, I still wouldn’t want him on the Dolphins.

Apparently, Ross/Grier/Flores don’t feel that way.  They seem to really want this kid.  There is no way that all reporters are making things up.  There has to be some truth in Ross wanting this guy.

So why don’t I want him? (ignoring the fact that he will absolutely be suspended, and possibly go to jail).  He’s another ungrateful holdout.

His defenders argue with me, but it’s a fact.  Watson did not get his way when the Texans were looking for a new coach, and he began a very public spat with team ownership.  He refused to play for the Texans, and this continues to this day.

Do you think, if and when he becomes a Dolphin, he will suddenly become a model employee?  It doesn’t work that way.  He has an entitled attitude that doesn’t go away simply because you move to a new city.

Players don’t get to demand who their coach is.  Players don’t get to demand who their GM is.  Their job is to play football with the teammates they have, not to pout when things don’t go their way.  His greed and immaturity is astounding.  And to think that Ross is even CONSIDERING this ingrate?

Before last season, the Titans were a perennial playoff contender.  They had one bad year last year, and Watson decides to hold out?   Imagine what he’ll do to the Dolphins when we have bad year after bad year.  He single-handedly destroyed the 2021 Texans because they did poorly in 2020.  He chose to do this to the 2021 Texans, willingly, by refusing to play.  You cannot reward guys who hold out.

I think this deal will fall through, and Ross (once again) will be the laughing stock of the league like when he publicly went after Jim Harbaugh, got rejected, and then lied and said Tony Sparano was always our man.  If (I hope and pray) the Dolphins do not get Watson, what will Ross publicly say about Tua?  Is he gonna deny the rumors?  Give Tua a raise?   The damage is already done.  But the damage to Tua’s ego is nothing compared to the damage that DeShaun Watson’s attitude would do to this team.

Oh, and have I mentioned his legal troubles?  None of which are going away…

  1. Cowherd said this morning that his sources are telling him it’s a done deal. Ross is just checking into the legalities. Cowherd said the compensation isn’t as bad as first thought I wonder why he may end up in jail! He also believes they are doing it to compete with Josh Allen as the D keeps getting carved up by him.

How about stay the course and build an actual team that can compete with them? What a revelation. The Fins may simply be switching places with the hapless Texans yes that’s what we all want! No cap and no picks with a million holes to fill. This guy won’t be any happier here unless he has a whole new stash of massage parlours….sounds like a winning plan.

Yeah, I thought these guys had professional massuesses who work for the team and did legitimate physical therapy. Okay, fine. So maybe Watson didn’t like the massages he was getting from the Texans and decided to hire one of his own. That’s also legit. Maybe it took 3 or 4 different people before he found one he liked. Maybe 8 or 9. Perhaps 14 or 15? 20 or 21?
No! At this point, the pattern is clear and obvious. He wasn’t interested in finding a legit massage therapist to help. He was interested in a Robert Kraft massage. Remember, this is not one or two ladies accusing him. But 22!

Check out this video. Does this seem to be a money-hungry liar, or a legit therapist who was actually scared and confused by Watson’s requests for what he wanted. (Apparently he has a finger fetish and wanted her to place her fingers into his…. Just watch the clip.) https://twitter.com/713HSP/status/1421925117295308804?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1421925117295308804%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fsports%2Fdeshaun-watson-accuser-graphic-detail-massage-requests

      1. Ya that’s bad very bad. I just don’t see how you can do this deal and look in the mirror Ross. Then market this to the fans especially female fans and kids. Sorry I’d rather fight with Tua for better or worse. ..

Womens groups have been surprisingly quiet about Watson so far. But if Ross signs this jerk, the Dolphins will be in a firestorm of negative publicity.
Ray Rice could still be a top-5 running back in this league. But you have to draw the line and understand that the negatives are too important to ignore. Especially in today’s culture.

Per CBS Sports stats: Watson was third in completion percentage at 70.2 in 2020. So he’s accurate and productive.
Tagovailoa has increased his completion percentage to 69.5 this season, which is sixth best in the league. What’s more, Dolphins receivers have dropped the most passes in the league, per CBS.
So giving away THREE #1 picks just so your QB can go from 69.5 to 70.2? I can only hope Ross reads these things.

    1. Yep Cote is dead on this is becoming a noisy circus. Thanks Ross for cluster!@$#% our team.

  3. What does this say to future draft picks? Who will want to come here if, in the light that Tua is improving, putting in the time and practice, they treat him this way.

    1. That and free agents. Who will want to sign when treated like garbage. If Ross is behind this BS he definitely needs to get the hell out of here. Another good point was that there will be more competition in the market next year but there will also be other very good QB’s such as Rogers or even Wilson available. Heaven forbid that Tua actually continues his growth and becomes even more valuable than Watson without the baggage. The whole thing smells.

We don’t have to worry about free agents. We’ll still get them here. They come here for the tax-free salary, South Beach, the girls, the nightlife, etc. No one comes here honestly expecting to win. THAT is Ross’s legacy.
Maybe DeShaun Watson can find a few massage ladies in Dade County to stick their finger in his ass as he requested.

        1. Your statement is exactly how I feel about players coming to Miami. This once great franchise is, and has been, the laughingstock of the NFL. No one takes us seriously- not even some players on the team. I feel bad for the ones who actually care- Gesicki being one of them. We’re doomed as long as Ross is at the helm.

  4. I know this is not much of an analysis but my God does Ross have such a feeble loser energy. Obviously, I’ve never met the man, but I’m generally good at reading body language. How that man can ever inspire anyone to do their best work is beyond me. I fall asleep just looking and listening to him…total loser energy. I’m not surprised at all that the franchise has gone nowhere and been a national embarrassment ever since he bought the team. It all starts at the top. As long as he owns the Dolphins, he will always hire the wrong people, make questionable business decisions (like volunteering his team to play in London every chance he gets), and treat the team like his personal hobby. Maybe we get lucky and he finally gets bored and sells the team…one can hope. I’m convinced no matter how much money he spends, Mr. Magoo will always get the football part of it (the only part we care about) 100% wrong.

Yes, and the worst part is Ross’s binding contract to sell the team to his partner. We already know who the next owner is, and he seems to be just the same as Ross.

I never understood the anger of fans in Baltimore or Cleveland when their owners moved the team. I never comprehended why any fan could hate a team owner so much. Now I get it. I’m on my last straw with Ross, and if he steps in and orders this ridiculous acquisition of Watson, that will push me over the edge. He has hurt and hampered the Dolphins for years without listening to the common sense of the fans, scouts, pundits, and experts. I mean there must be someone in his inner circle telling him that Watson is poison. Granted, I know some Dolfans really want Watson here, but 99.9% of the fan base is against this. Ross is this close to ostricizing 99% of the fan base with a ridiculous move. In the past, I’ve pointed out a lot of Ross’s mistakes, and some folks agree with me and others don’t care. But in this particular case, the people are already going insane and begging him not to do this.

    1. This is the biggest no-brainer of all time. Your defense can stop nothing and you want to give away 3-4 years of first rounders in light of that knowledge? You have no WRs that can stay on the field and… You have an offensive line that should allow the QB 4-5 sec post-snap but your gives 2 sec … Ross, open your eyes man, finger-butt guy is not a good move.

      1. Author

“finger-butt guy is not a good move.” Good one!
        Watson = FBG

  6. As possibly the lone female on this site, I heard the interview with one of the 22 masseuses, I am totally disgusted with what she had to say. Ross actually entering into discussions with this guy is disrespectful and insulting to women! Ross putting his own ego ahead of the team for this s-bag indicates he will go to the lowest possible place…the baggage that comes with this guy is bad bad bad….leave the Watson crap on someone else’s field not ours! Ross will show every owner what sewerage he will bring to this team should this malcontent be traded…and using our picks for this will put Ross’s already obnoxious reputation in the worst owner category for many years. I will communicate my displeasure to their front office…not that it will change anything but it needs to be done. As much as I have been not high on Tua, he’s a good kid and needs a chance to take his opportunity to play without this distraction. of course, if Tua does get traded, he will thrive and once again the Dolphins will look like idiots.

    1. I’ve only met a few of my regular readers (Justin and Sean) in person, and I don’t think I knew you were female until just now. We used to have a regular in the weekly chatroom, but I forgot her screen name. She was in the military in Alaska, if I remember correctly. Anyway, I’d like to ask you from your perspective….Do you believe the woman in this video? A lot of folks say she is trying to get some $$$, but I see her face and think she is genuine.

      1. I believe she is telling the truth-she speaks with embarrassment about what he was asking her to do. Maybe others jumped on the bandwagon to get some money out of this but I feel this woman was telling the truth about what happened. Getting moneww Watson is a diva and will bring that with him. I hope Ross doesn’t move forward with this trade-it will show us a lot if he’s caves in for Watson. Though GM Grier is the catalyst.

    2. And it wont just stigmatize just Ross but also Grier and Flores, forever. If both these guys come out and tell Ross that this guy is a cancer, them Ross will not get him (I’d like to think that). So think long and hard guys about your next move. Dont make your already shitty moves worse by getting this guy.

      1. Author

There’s no way Ross sits home on Sundays and watches Houston Texans games in his spare time. He didn’t learn about Watson’s stats on his own and didn’t start to analyze the potential trade cost. NO!
So how/why does Ross care about Watson so much? It’s because someone is in his ear. Someone (God knows who) told Ross about Watson’s numbers and got our owner intrigued. When the ugly side of Watson’s “hobbies” came to to the surface, THAT should have been the end of the intrigue. But apparently, by then, Ross and the people whispering in his ear were already in love with Watson, and they haven’t turned back since.

  7. I’m hoping the longer time goes by the Dolphins will have decided this is not a wise move.
