Dolphins Truth

It seems like Brian Flores will be our next head coach, and we’ll go in with an open mind.   But the more I read about this whole hiring process, the more I’m wondering… I’ve cut Stephen Ross a lot of slack the last few weeks.   Instead of pointing out my usual list of items that Ross does to hurt the Dolphins, I took it easy on him and enjoyed the brilliant afterglow of Ross’s best decision to date:  he fired Arrogant Adam.   Ross said the right things and made the right decision.  It was a pleasure to be a Dolphin fan.   The coaching search wasRead More →

While we await head coaching news, we still have some time to lament about the Adam Gase era. Specifically today, I’d like to point out that my criticisms of Gase are not unique. Many other people saw what I saw, and their comments speak volumes. The people I’m talking about are the TV announcers, including several well-respected Hall of Famers. There were about six instances this year when an announcer said something along the lines of “I’m surprised that Adam Gase called that play right there.” They were right to question Gase’s play-calling. But I’m a little disappointed that they were surprised over it. Here’sRead More →

Sam Darnold will never run a QB sneak again.  Read More →

Google Kris Richard:     Well, the word is that the Dolphins will not bring in Mike Munchak.  This is a questionable move in my book.  The man is a Hall of Famer with head coaching experience.  Doesn’t that deserve at least an interview? In addition, seems like Rex Ryan and Mike McCarthy were never considered.  This too is puzzling. Look, I’m not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.  Firing Gase was the best thing we could have done, and Mr. Ross did so.  But it seems the new coaching search is suffering from tunnel vision, where they are only looking at youngRead More →

I know this is a re-run, but I am still so happy that Gase is gone that I just had to do it…   Mr. Ross, I owe you an apology.  You DID make the right call after all. You DID give us the best present we could ask for. Arrogant Adam Gase is gone. Yes, the dust hasn’t settled yet, and our new coach might be worse, but I doubt it.   Even so, let’s revel in the holiday joy for a while and take it all in.  No more Gase. We might run a QB sneak now. We might utilize a position called TightRead More →

Let’s use this post to discuss who we’re rooting for in the playoff.s “Anyone but New England” is an acceptable answer! Did you guys see the end of the Dallas-Seattle game?   Seattle gets an interception and set to drive for the win.   All of a sudden, there are two penalties in a row on Seattle, ending the threat and they punt.  Dallas gets the ball back, and Seattle forces a three and out.  But wait!    A garbage interference penalty on Seattle gives Dallas a new first down! No problem.   Seattle forced a second three-and-out in a row.   But guess what?   ANOTHER interference penalty keptRead More →

Aside from the current coaching search, there’s been a lot of talk about overhauling the entire roster and rebuilding, whatever that means. First and foremost, rebuilds guarantee nothing. In theory, you suffer through a few 2-14 and 3-13 seasons and then eventually become 9-7, and then finally you go 13-3 and make a deep run in the playoffs. In theory. But what about if you’re Cleveland, or Detroit, or Arizona? What if you go 3-13 for a few seasons as you rebuild, but then you go 4-12 and 2-14 the next few? What if this continues for decades like the hapless Browns and Bills? RosterRead More →

So a fan shows up at Dolphins training camp and demands to speak to Coach Adam Gase. The security guard says, “I’m sorry. But Adam Gase is no longer head coach.” A week later, the same fan shows up again and asks the same guard to let him talk to Coach Adam Gase. Again the guard says that Adam Gase is no longer the head coach. Another week, and the fan once again asks to speak to Coach Adam Gase. This time, the guard is angry. He says, “Listen, Adam Gase is not our head coach. Don’t you get it? Gase is gone. Adam GaseRead More →

For several years, I’ve been pointing out the many mistakes that Adam Gase made as a play caller.  And now we’re finding out that I wasn’t alone. Barry Jackson at the Herald points out that several Dolphins complained about Gase not sticking with what was working in games.   Sound familiar?   Haven’t I harped on that for 3 years, to the point where you guys are sick of me writing about it?    One specific complaint the players noted was that when the team was running the ball successfully, Gase would “inexplicably start throwing it.”   Ahhhem.   Sound familiar? It’s as if Barry “borrowed” some prose ofRead More →

Who do you guys want? So a lot of names are flying around out there, including Darren Rizzi. From the heart, he’s not a bad pick.   As long as he proves to management and to the players that he knows his stuff.  He does seem a lot smarter than a guy who just works with punters and kickers.  The rah-rah attitude can be tiresome, but I will not fault him for getting in players’ faces.   Miami needs a disciplinarian head coach, and not another buddy ol’ pal like Gase. The Bears’ DC is getting a lot of attention, but I’m not feeling it.  He’s beenRead More →

We might run a QB sneak now. We might utilize a position called Tight End, something unknown to Gase. We might keep our good players. We might have a coach who hires professionals and not his friends. OrRead More →

The Jets and Buccaneers quickly wasted no time in all in getting rid of their unsuccessful coaches.   Stephen Ross, on the other hand, needs more time. And that, my friends, is nothing but bad news.  You see, the more Ross waits, the more time Adam Gase has to make up excuses, giving Ross reason to think that one more year might do the trick.  Ross’s hesitation shows us that he is not ready to make the call that needs to be made. The more reporters say that Gase is on the hot seat, the colder that seat gets. Mr. Ross is a quiet man, soRead More →

LIVE CHAT:   http://dolphinstruth.com/chat/   Let’s hope so.    I’ll have a lot to write about during the week, including a Bills recap and a season in review. But first things first.   Let’s see what happens today and then see who (if anyone) gets fired.   I have a feeling that not enough change will occur. Ross will probably change one of the behind the scenes guys, leaving Gase in charge.   Mark my words, if we keep this piece of shit Gase, in October 2019, the Dolphins will start 1-5, and Ross will fire Gase.   Way way way too late.  Mid-season firings neverRead More →

Christmas continues to come all week long for Arrogant Adam. Multiple articles seem to indicate that Ryan Tannehill is definitely gone.  Gase must be breathing such a sigh of relief. Seriously, he must go to bed at night thinking, “Thank God that Mr. Ross is blaming our QB instead of blaming me!” Other articles state that the whole front office will be fired, but Gase will get a another year. I don’t think Stephen Ross reads my blog, but he is a real estate developer, so I want to give him a real estate analogy. We are building a high-rise office building.  It looks nice andRead More →

Adam Gase on Monday continues to blame injuries for all the Dolphin losses, still refusing to look in the mirror.   And the media, once again, let him get away with it. When asked about his regrets this year, his first reply was to regret all the injuries.  He then moved on to change the subject, and the local hack writers let him dictate the conversation. If I had a press pass, I would politely raise my hand and ask a follow-up:  Coach Gase, you led the Bengals by 17 points and faced a third and inches with a few minutes left to play.  WhyRead More →

Live game day chat:   http://dolphinstruth.com/chat/  Ten months ago, the Jaguars led the Patriots by 10 points in the 4th Quarter of the AFC Champiomship.   A few minutes later, they had choked away their Super Bowl chance, and they never recovered. I knew they’d never recover from that crushing loss. I called it. The Jags’ descent into obscurity continues today with some bum QB who no one ever heard of at Hard Rock Stadium.    Guys like this usually have a field day against us.   Remember Thad Lewis? Anyway, let’s put it this way:   I won’t be crushed if we lose this one.  TheRead More →

It’s official.    All the third-and-inches pass plays and all the 5-WR sets and the “fun is better than winning” culture of Arrogant Adam Gase has ended yet another Dolphin season. The Herald laughably says (without a shred of evidence) that change is imminent.   The Sun Sentinel agrees.     Have these writers not studied Stephen Ross before?    The man rewards failure like no one else in sports history. If you find out about secret meetings and changes that are coming, then please report it.    But stop speculating and stop your wishful thinking, all under the guise of reporting facts.
