Dolphins Truth

In a pathetic display the Dolphins’ starting offense only scored one touchdown against Baltimore’s third and fourth stringers.  Any time–that’s ANY time—your top-caliber players go up against a bunch of rookies and has-beens, you should easily score every single time.   But we didn’t come close.  just think how well we will do when we face teams in the real season, when we face first-string defense.  It’s gonna be ugly. It’s not too late though.   We can hope and pray that Adam Gase has been holding back.   We hope that he has a much better playbook this year that he hasn’t showed off yet.  Doubtful, butRead More →

A slow little white guy barely 150 lbs took the ball and scampered 71 yards against our first-string defense Friday night.  You have to assume that both of our safeties, and both of our CBs, and at least one of our new stud LBs are faster than this guy.   It just goes to show you that even though our men are faster than him, they didn’t have a chance to catch him because they were sooooo out of position. Adam Gase acknowledged this over the weekend, singling out Bobby McCain, Raekwon McMillan and Jerome Baker on that play.   Gase said they were all out ofRead More →

Last week, the booth announcers mentioned several times how bad the Dolphins’ offense was last year.   About 5 different times, they mentioned that Miami was ranked 27th in third-down conversions last year and like 30th on 4th down.   Unacceptable and terrible. But they didn’t mention their thoughts as to why.  I’m here to tell you that Adam Gase is why.  His play calling, especially on short-yardage situations, is the culprit.  I know last week was only preseason, but early on we faced a 4th and inches, and Gase called a pass play.   As usual.   The play worked, and we got a first down.   that stillRead More →

Sources tell me that Jordan Lucas is wearing #23 this year because Frank Gore wanted to buy #21 from him. The price:  $20,000! Yes, I actually do have sources and inside info. I hope Gore lives up to the hype.   Yes, it’s nice to sign a hometown guy, but that’s all we keep hearing about.   Come September, I want to hear about him running over defenders.Read More →

What do you guys look for? Personally, I just like to see the rookies go out there and show us what they can do.   Let’s just hope no one blows out their knee on their very first play! By all accounts, the offense is not performing too well in practices, so that could be a very dangerous omen when the real games begin…Read More →

The coach who perfected the Wildcat is gone. A far better coach than Gase, and INFINITELY better than Clueless Joey Philbin.  He will be missed.    Read More →

While some would disagree, the Dolphins have a lot of talent entering this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. We have a strong crew of running backs and some fast and eager wide receivers. A decent offensive line and a mobile quarterback. A couple of great prospects at tight end. I know Ryan Tannehill has his critics, and I’ve certainly been one. But I feel this offense has more talent than the others Tannehill has inherited, and I look forward to seeing what he can do with it. But…the team will only go as far as Adam Gase allows it to go.Read More →

The good news:  It looks like Julian Edelman will be suspended for up to four games for violating PED standards.  It’s not rare for players to get caught these days, but it IS rare for a Patriot to get caught. The bad news:   Adam Gase cancelled the team’s final workout day today.   Perhaps Gase thinks his team won the Super Bowl last year and doesn’t need to practice.  Perhaps he thinks the Dolphins are perfect in every way.  Perhaps….who knows? I think it’s a disgusting and totally unprofessional thing to do.  Gase continues to send the wrong message to his team.     Finish in thirdRead More →

As the Dolphins prepare for summer (namely, waiting until June 1 when we get $17 million to spend on free agents), off-season conditioning workouts have begun. All reports indicate that last year’s injured starters all showed up.  This includes Tony Lippett, Ryan Tannehill, Raekwon McMillan, and more. The NFL season is long, and guys get injured every single week, from the opening of camp to the end of the Super Bowl.   Last year, we got hit exceptionally hard.   This year, let’s keep our fingers crossed… In other news, our pal Richie Incognito is now under lockup after allegedly throwing a barbell at a guy inRead More →

Each year I  analyze the way the NFL schedules games. Now that we’ve had a month since the schedule’s release, it’s time to take a look at how it affects the Dolphins. First of all, let’s look at some of the annual, repeated unfair advantages that some teams have.   For example, we all know that Detroit and Dallas will get home games on Thanksgiving. You may not think it’s a big deal, but it is. Those teams are able to plan their logistics well in advance of other teams. They know it’s a short week to begin with, and having a home game during theRead More →

I guess we need someone to play in those meaningless preseason games…Read More →

I’m not going to comment too much here, because I’m far more curious about what you our readers and other Dolphans have to say. My overall grade of this draft is a D.  It’s not an F, because some of these guys are fantastic.  But it’s also not an A, B, or even C because of the baffling positions they chose to fill. I’m excited to hear rave reviews for Minkah Fitzpatrick and Kalen Ballage.   I’m amused to hear that our new tight ends each can only do one thing.  I’m puzzled why we drafted an unneeded DB and a kicker who only makes 60% of his fieldRead More →

Interesting choice.   We need tight ends.   But we need linebackers more. Adam Gase’s tight ends sit on the bench when a game is on the line.   (I.E., he calls for 5-WR shotgun formations every time it’s 4th and inches).  Gase does not involve his tight ends during situations when other teams do.   So he’s either gonna change that habit, or these are wasted picks.  Let’s hope it’s the former! Go Phins!   Go tight ends! Now get some F’in linebackers. YOUR thoughts???Read More →

While the selection of Minkah Fitzpatrick has received unanimous praise–from the media to that lying scum Nick Saban–it wouldn’t be DolphinsTruth unless I critiqued this a little. I have no problem with his skill set, his speed, his smarts. He checks everything you need to be a success in the NFL. The problem I see in selecting him has nothing to do with him. The problem is that the Dolphins, yet again, chose a player at a position where we need little/no help. We lost Kong Suh and did not replace him. We lost Jay Ajayi and did not replace him (sorry, but an agingRead More →

What position should we take with the 11th overall pick? 2.   Regarding your answer to #1, What specific player should that be? 3.  Despite what we need, what position do you think the Dolphins will actually draft? 4.  Will the experts and pundits praise or criticize the Dolphins’ selection? 5.  What are your thoughts on trading the #11 pick to move either up or down?Read More →

Dolphins open at Home:   Week one, Titans @ Dolphins! Raiders AT Dolphins Sept 23 Dolphins end the season (Week 17) at Buffalo.  The league really really needs to stop giving the Bills this December advantage every single year. NOVEMBER 11:   Dolphins at Packers.     Better than December in Lambeau I guess.  Joe Philbin is now the offensive coordinator, LOL. WEEK 6:  Bears at Dolphins. Week 12:   Dolphins at Colts Lions @ Dolphins Week 7 Dolphins @ Vikings Week 15 Looks like the Patriots get to come to Miami on comfortable December 9th instead of miserable September.  That’s okay.  We beat them last year in December andRead More →

Will the Dolphins get a Monday Night game? Will we FINALLY get to play our required Thursday game at home? Will we get plenty of home games during the brutal humidity? Will Stephen Ross give away invaluable home games in order to play in Europe instead? Will the schedule leak out long before the “official” release?  (Yes!  it does every year.  I disagree with the Dolphin writers at the Herald very often, but I give them lots of credit for discovering the schedule in advance.) Will we get some oddball Saturday game? Thanksgiving? Will we have to go to Lambeau in December…or September.  A bitRead More →
